  1. James, welcome along! I too have returned after a break, and I will freely admit it seems mega daunting when you first look at it. However, as many of the above say, the info on here will sort you out. Do not worry too much where you start, though the beginners bit really helps, you will soon get the hang of it. If you can remember back to your early days of ic and flying, you must have encountered terms then that puzzled you. This is simply the same. Lots of new words and abbreviations, but think of it this way.... They still have whirly things on the front or some other launching system, and magic bits inside that convert thumb movements to control movements.... it's just confusing at first. Best of luck with the puzzling Myk.
  2. Hi Garth and welcome along 'fraid I cannot help with advice myself as just recently returned also, and from roughly same time. However I can recommend the many articles on here and other sites with regard to electric set-ups and understanding. Try this by Stan Yeo, simple to understand and helpful to get you started. Have fun, Myk. Simple Electrics
  3. Hi Scott, sorry no pics but check online. RR is no Tx, Rx, batt or charger, rest of stuff is fitted. Minimal build though, and the same place does do different versions, which are cheaper than UK stock in general (but have not compared those). Always nervous about buying outside UK, but this one was fine, and you do get paypal protection. Hi Chuck, yes, it was between this and a Radian pro really, and as I had no reply to my questions from Radian peeps , I went this way with Mpx. Cheers, Myk.
  4. This on an Ebay shop, nice price with todays exchange rate. Not sure? Can you trust it?   Yep, bought one! Arrived on Friday after purchase on Monday. Myk     Easy Glider from Germany   Translator.... Edited By Myk Riley on 28/01/2015 11:22:10
  5. Hi Martin, thanks for the offer but I should be ok (at least for now) with Tx and Rx. Although I will be using some 35 meg stuff whilst learning (not in the EG) I also have an Mpx Cockpit 2.4. This will be supplemented by further Rx and just eventually using the one Tx. Thanks anyhow, Myk.
  6. The Easy Glider Red Edition is now £112 and a bit.... Check the link above! Myk.
  7. See, I knew someone would make the connection   I have re-checked the ad on the Ebay shop of the supplier, they have now corrected the description to read correctly. Glad to see them do this after I pointed it out, as it was good service and a bloomin' good price!   Paul, how about Ice Cold in Alex next? Myk Edited By Myk Riley on 20/01/2015 08:38:11
  8. Hi Aaron, welcome along. I am returning to the hobby myself, after some 30 odd years! In that time virtually everything has changed ...... planes and what they are made of... engine performance and types... electric powered planes and gliders have improved beyond belief! So in a way, I am in the same boat as yourself. From this newbies point of view.... Great advice above. Check out some of the shop sites and have a look what they have. Do the same with this and other flying forums and just start to read a bit. Have a good think about what floats your boat, by which I mean do you fancy old style planes, or sporty things? Do you want to go with glow or petrol type engines (those with liquid fuel) of electric motor ones which are quieter but can fly the same types as liquid fuel. As the people above have said, read some of the beginners stuff on here and other sites you come across. The main thing (to reduce your costs) is to try to decide on which direction you want to go in. Clubs can be hard to find, may not be very active during the winter or may not be easy for you to get to (remember I do not know where you are or your circumstances). Try not to let this put you off making contact with one though, but in the meantime keep asking any questions you may have on here, and try a copy of RCM&E which at the moment is running a beginners article. Don't give up! It is just sensible to be initially cautious, read (and watch on you tube!) what you can, and see if you can borrow/obtain some old magazine copies. Ask if you do not understand but most of all, welcome along...it does get easier! Best wishes, Myk.
  9. Paul, do you mean watched it on Ebay? I must admit to being dubious (who isn't) before buying, but as it was not a private seller, and you have Paypal protection, I just had to risk it! Very happy with the thing, but not assembled yet, no glue! Will sort that tomorrow. If thinking of buying, beware the description as I said earlier, and don't forget to check postage costs. Myk.
  10. Hi John, welcome along! Know the sensory overload thing, I am in similar situation. The threads Pete B refers to are very good, but also try this one from 4 Max Useful Info I found it quite clear. Happy landings, Myk.
  11. Perhaps one of those 'helpful hands' croc clip things, fitted with the opposite (male/female) connector secured? Just a thought, Myk.
  12. Hi Gurth, thanks for the tips! The 35 meg is going with the non-elec stuff in Hi boy only, as I have already, strangely coincidental, an Mpx Cockpit Sx which will be used for the EG (and others...love that model memory stuff!). Glad to see it mentioned, as other newbies may be considering what you describe... Its a bloomin minefield at first eh?   Myk. Edited By Myk Riley on 18/01/2015 10:49:33
  13. Oh, and here is a link to Preis-Fuchser item on Ebay Myk
  14. Hi All, hope you are all well. Just posting this as an update on this newbies progress so far, and for a bit of info and support for anyone considering similar actions or paths. I do hope this is in the right place and contains no naughty slips, mods feel free to check and adjust! I decided, after much reading on forums and shopping around, to go for an MPX Easy Glider Pro RR, instead of the Parkzone Radian Pro RR. Reports on performance seemed to beat the Radian (in this later version) and certainly had better reports in the quality department. Must admit I was also swayed by it being MPX, a firm I remember (from waaay back), and also being German (quality). The EG arrived Friday, from a company in Germany, for a lovely pound to euro friendly £118...not bad, postage was another £15 so £133 in total, and it arrived on the fifth day after ordering! Slightly different from the description in the ad, Ebay shop listing said Blue Edition, this one is Red. However, it was the one I expected, as the price difference was similar to other stores, and to be honest, it makes no difference at this stage, but is something to be aware of. Having had a good look at the instructions (which are also the same ones as in the kit version), I would in future have no hesitation in ordering a kit and doing a self-build. They were clear and detailed, and although a builder from previous I think anyone could do it if they took their time and were careful to double check before gluing/cutting. More on the EG shortly. I have also obtained a ready built (read old) Precedent Hi Boy 2, an OS FS 52 and a flight box with all the usual bits. All this again from Ebay. All looks very good but will have to fit kit and test run before 100%. Will be using my old, but thoroughly checked/tested 35Meg Fleet PCM HF7 in the HB. Intention is to re-learn power flying before putting the 52 into a Puppeteer (with a 2.4 set!). So with both models and bits arriving, I got a trip in to Kings Lynn Models and obtained, along with some small parts, two Overlander LiPo packs, 11.1, 3 s, 2200mAH. These I will charge after re-reading all the precautions regarding LiPo and setting-up a safe charging area. There is no rush, so I will learn before I burn! Need to get some Elapor stuff for the EG then, once packs charged, go through all the set-up tasks on the model and Tx, and see if I can rope someone in to guide me through the first flights! Membership of BFMA sorted by a Christmas pressie, not long to the sky eh? So that's it for now from a returnee, I will add more to this once things happen, hopefully may be of use to some others. By the way, after checking Ebay earlier today, the exchange is even better, so you can get an Easy Glider Pro for £114 plus postage... Just search for the item on Ebay, and look for the seller Preis-Fuchser Cheers, Myk.
