  1. hi guys.i had been building the cirrus moth from db but as usual we get side tracked. well im pleased too say that im on home stretch now.fuz covered and painted.nylon was my chioce of covering.bottom wing covered.just a bit more sanding then doping again and painting.servos in just ailerons too cover.then start covering top wing. i went electric with this build and used the motor recomended on 4max website. but being me i bought the same motor someware else half the price. anyway chaps will try post some pics soon.
  2. thanks for help...think im begging to get it..... motors come in all differant ratings....is the kv rating also the rpm. so eg a 4500kv will give a higher rpm then a 2200kv therefore giving more thrust higher watts and draw more amps so also a higher rating esc would be needed.... i wish id studied harder at school...... thanks for your help....
  3. hi all.i need more power. im using a 300mah 3s 20c pack for a small wing. havnt flown it yet but think i need more power.the motor is about 1240kv outrunner.with a 20a esc. will a 500mah pack give me more ooomph.or more time. would a bigger prop help..its a 5x4 at the moment. or will i need a bigger motor.... the problem is its only a 19inch flying wing so too much weight and it might not fly thanks for any advice... george
  4. iv always been into ic. been playing with leccy but just epp flying wings. i think its all down to how well you can solder..... been using those mini deans on my latest very small wing and they really test your soldering abilities...... my conclusion is if you can solder........go leccy if you cant go ic............
  5. thanks for the info guys.ill only be taking a couple of packs..
  6. hi guys. ive been flying a lot in spain with my old man but always use his models.this year i was hoping to take my own small electric wing. can i take lipos on a plane either as hand luggage or in the hold.any help please.
  7. hi martyn.have you flown it any more yet. i have a question about engine choice. i was going to use an sc52 four stroke.but i bought an old cub just to run in the sc52 but it flies so well ive decided to keep it...the other 4st i have is an sc70. i know you used a saito 70 so how did that work with the c of g. did you have to add any weight to front or back.ive checked to specs on the saito and the weight is 470g compared to the 650g for the sc70. any help would be great thanks...
  8. looks great martyn.so looking forward to flying mine... long way too go though............
  9. thanks chris.theres a cirrus moth at my club and it just flys so slow and stable. really looking forward to those slow flypasts.
  10. if theres a mistake to make ill make it. im enjoying building this kit and so far no quality problems at all. trying to take it slow as it was intended to be my winter project.
  11. ok first mistake,im on the 3rd wing section and counted the ribs i got left, then i noticed the 2 root ribs on each wing panel are thicker then the rest, oopps. so now the last wing panel will be made up with mostly the thicker ribs, option 1 would be to make up some new ribs and use them option 2 would be to use the thicker ones and maybe even sand them down a bit so that the lateral balance wouldnt be affected too much. im not worried about the fact that the root ribs are thinner then they should be, dont think that would make much differance.
  12. i got my kit today (thanks eddie) and thanks martyn for your pics posted on here there a great help as its been a long time since i built anything. just started on the first port wing...
