  1. If, like me, you love the sound of 4 strokes, you will be aware of the problem of connecting the crankcase breather through the underside of the cowl. It's a pain having the tubing connected to the nipple on the donk then trying to mate it with the 1/8" tube fixed to the floor of the cowl. I find that K&S #1146 tube has an internal diameter of 1/8"and when fixed in position in the floor of the engine bay will accept a piece of 1/8" brass tube connected by fuel tube to the crankcase. Slides in and slides out; no more fiddling.
  2. Hi, My version of Boddo's "Old Bill" has an enclosed cowling so I use the RCD 3001 on board driver. This little unit has a button which will power the plug for 15 seconds. I run it via the UBEC which supplies power to my servos c/o a 2200mAh LiPo even though it will take 6-10 volts. Works a treat and costs only $AU20.00.
  3. Putting pushrods such as Gold-N-Rods through the side of a fuselage used to be a pain. The drills are too short and if you do have a long drill you need a very steady hand. Of course, you can drill by hand, bit I've paid for the drill so I must use it. I select a tube the same size as the pushrod outer, preferably aluminium as it's easy to cut and then find a steel rod that will fit through it. First fit the steel inside the tube and close the chuck around the steel. Start the hole at right angles to the fuselage holding the tube to steady the drilling, then, when the "drill" bites, lay the drill at the angle you want and penetrate the fuselage. Using a small, triangular file I cut notches into the end of the aluminium tube, disconnect the steel, but leave it in the fuselage; attach the tube to the drill and slide it over the steel and drill the full size hole.   4. I'm tired of waiting for the Adelaide weather to settle down and for the wind to blow the right way to fly from the cliffs at Sellicks so... I had the EDF lying around in the shed so I put Glad Wrap on the centre section and laid down fibre glass and 2 pre-drilled "L" pieces of aluminium. With a 22oomAh battery up front she weighs in at 45 ounces. I have named the unit "Otis" (Electric lift)
  5. Hi PatMc, The downgoing aileron causes increased drag and thus adverse yaw, but it would be on the upgoing wing. Cheers Sean
  6. Hi Leslie, Perhaps using differential aileron with more up than down in order to remove the adverse yaw and drag effect. The weather in Adelaide is atrocious and I have been unable to throw mine off a cliff, but some weekend soon I shall have a go and let you know what happens
  7. What I did was to bottom hinge the flaps as they are only going down then centre hinged the ailerons and sanded the aileron to a curved section.

  9. Hi I am having terrible problems loading my photos to this thread. The system keeps telling me that the website has a problem. The photo is a .JPEG and about 5 Meg in size, so it should load (All my others did). Does anyonone have a solution? Cheers Sean
  10. Well, the little lady is complete. I am having difficulties uploading photos, but as soon as things settle down in the ether I shall post. I am going to be flying with a 1300mAh Lipo and a UBEC; Orange 6 channel receiver and I needed 2 ounces of lead in the nose for balance. All up weight is 32.8 ounces which gives me just about 10 ounces/sq foot so she might even thermal. (In the Summer in Adelaide I can get a concrete block to thermal). I shall keep trying to upload the photos, especially of the maiden flight. Now, where did I leave that cliff?

  12. Thank you Alex; flattery will get you anywhere, so please don't stop. I have now covered the wings and will be spraying the fus and tailplane tomorrow. All up weight with an airborne battery pack and all servos is only 24 ounces. That is before spraying the fus and tailfeathers,but that shouldn't add much. I am using all Hextronic HTX900 servos as I thought they would be sufficient. If, however, I rekit the model after maiden flight, I may reconsider. Watch this space. Cheers Sean
