      You tube video of maiden flight, no drama just floated a lot more than I was expecting, flies hands free ( well I suppose it was origionally a FF!)     Hi All Finally got an opportunity to spray the DD with blue butyrate dope. Don't remember how many cross coats, but my arm was sore from holding the gun !! Used a 50/50 mix dope and retarder. Got some decals made up by a local sign Co. and here are the results. Hopefully do better on the next build (KK falcon maybe!) Assuming good weather this weekend, will maiden it and maybe post some video. Cheers Jules

    Hi Chris The full size one is a Just Aircraft Escapade with a Jabiru 4 stroke. I gather there are a number of them in the UK. Although I have the Highlander wing which is longer, we have much more relaxed microlight rules here in NZ. 1200 lb AUW and stall better than 45 knots is about it. It was a kit from the States pre welded fuse etc. I had scratch built a couple of aluminium ones before a Zenair 701 and a Teenie two, but the Escapade was the first fabric one (much easier and quicker) Jules

    Hi Thanks for the comments I am going to have a go at spraying some colour dope this weekend. As for pinking I just used some tape that was left over from the real big model ! I found pinking shears don't seem to work on thin material, I tried doping first to stiffing it up by still wouldn't work. Could be that my pinking shears are not good enough. I am after some advice on butyrate dope. From what I can gather off the net, when spraying in humid conditions ( and thats what we have here at the moment, 65%+) you should add 1 part retarder to 2 or 3 parts thinner and then a 50/50 mix with dope. Others have said they use straight 50/50 retarder and dope. I am after a sheen finish rather than shinny or dull, and I understand that retarder does help put a bit of shine to it as it dries slower.     Covering now done so that brings me up to date. Just waiting for a dry , low humidity day for some spraying. I'll use some retarder and that should reduce the chance of blushing. Cheers Jules

    Hi Chris Its my Garage, but had to add a roller door on the Gable end to get get my rather larger model in and out!! Funilly enough never had a car in it ! Horizontal tail Fin and Rudder Fuselage Made up a music wire bender from a few scraps. worked surprisingly well The finished U/C Et Voila as they say. His name really is Biggles (maybe it should be BYB- Biggles' Younger Brother) Needless to say he loves flying in the big model! Cheers Jules
