  1. Hi I'm just about finished my seagull edge 540 and I'm using a super tiger g20 23cc glow engine, what prop size would suit this engine best?
  2. Hi im looking for info on cog on fly fly bae hawk@import url(http://www.modelflying.co.uk/CuteEditor_Files/Style/SyntaxHighlighter.css);@import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css);

  4. Yes it is quite dark, how do i over come overheating, sorry for all the questions i am new to this hobby.   @import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css);
  5. The head and the exhaust stick out from the cowl quite a bit so the air flow over the engine is quite good.@import url(http://www.modelflying.co.uk/CuteEditor_Files/Style/SyntaxHighlighter.css);@import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css);
  6. @import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css); im unsure of age of engine as I bought second hand but was assured it had low run time. fuel tank position is level with carb. engine is mounted on its side. it is sitting behind a cowl but does get good air flow, i am using model technics 10% fuel there seems to be a bit of discoloring around top of engine ie black.
  7. Hi all I have a Black horse Renegade with an Irvine 53 up front, the problem I am having is during flight I seem to be losing alot of power after about 5 mins of flying (no extra power from half stick to full stick). What could be causing this? @import url(http://www.modelflying.co.uk/CuteEditor_Files/Style/SyntaxHighlighter.css);@import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css);
  8. I have been using foam ear plugs as exhaust bungs to stop the used oil dripping out after flying, it works a treat. they expand to fill the hole perfect. Also helps that I work in a factory where you can get as many as you like free. @import url(http://www.modelflying.co.uk/CuteEditor_Files/Style/SyntaxHighlighter.css);@import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css);
  9. Yes as the plane sits on a level workbench the right horizontal stabilizer sits approx 15 mm lower than the opposite side. @import url(http://www.modelflying.co.uk/CuteEditor_Files/Style/SyntaxHighlighter.css);@import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css);
  10. Hi thanks for your reply. the fin and tailplane are at 90' and the structure of the fuselage is mainly solid. Im tempted to take it back to the shop as it is only a week old. I could probably live with it but its just annoying as you like new models to look perfect. @import url(http://www.modelflying.co.uk/CuteEditor_Files/Style/SyntaxHighlighter.css);@import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css);
  11. @import url(http://www.modelflying.co.uk/CuteEditor_Files/Style/SyntaxHighlighter.css);@import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css); Hi all. I recently built My Blackhorse Renegade and maidened it today. Whilst taxing back up the runway I noticed the tail plane was slightly lower on one side (approx 1 1/2 cm), which was not like this when I built it. I measured all surfaces and they are spot on so I can only put it down to a slight twist in the fuss. is there any way of overcoming this problem. and will it effect flight perfomance at all.?   The plane was sat in my car for a good few hours whilst the sun was out yesterday. could this of shrank the film causing it to twist?  @import url(http://www.modelflying.co.uk/CuteEditor_Files/Style/SyntaxHighlighter.css);@import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css);Edited By M1TCH on 04/06/2011 22:26:00
  12. It is worth getting yourself a simulator such as phoenix to help you learn. I found it helped me quite a bit especially with orientation and landings. Good luck,
  13. I think its more of an optical illusion. The camera is just one of the cheap mini dv jobbies from ebay £12 i think. Soon as you start the engine the vibrations make the picture appear wobley. That is the most stable video out of 4 the other 3 are alot worse. I need some sort of anti vibration material unerneath camera.@import url(http://www.modelflying.co.uk/CuteEditor_Files/Style/SyntaxHighlighter.css);@import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css);

    @import url(http://www.modelflying.co.uk/CuteEditor_Files/Style/SyntaxHighlighter.css);@import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css); @import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css); I have got the Black horse Travel air. I cant rate it high enough. It is a fantastic second plane very responsive and very forgiving. I have just upgraded the engine from irvine 46 to a 53 with a 12 x 6 prop which has livened it up.   Buy this plane you wont be dissapointed. love mine ..

    second model

    I am on my second model and I bought a travel air. fantastic second model and cheap, flies awsome especially with a 53 up front @import url(http://www.modelflying.co.uk/CuteEditor_Files/Style/SyntaxHighlighter.css);@import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css);
  17. Totally Agree BEB about the pole. Infact im sure it jumped out at me on my perfect landing. @import url(http://www.modelflying.co.uk/CuteEditor_Files/Style/SyntaxHighlighter.css);@import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css);
  18. Well done mate, there really is no turning back now. I have just started flying myself and just become solo. it is so addicitive. If im not flying im thinking about when ill be flying again. It is worth while investing in a sim like phoenix etc. it has really helped me get my wings.
  19. Well I had an eventful day at the field today. I have not long become solo and enjoying every minute of it. Today started of fantastic, I had 4 very successful flights with very smooth landings and my confidence was getting as high as the plane, then I decided to have one last flight before heading home. Take off was fantastic and flying was spot on, loops, rolls awesome. Then time to land, approach was good speed was just right all three wheels touched floor at same time smoothest yet, then as hurtling down runway trying to slow down I didn't realise how close the windsock pole was to side of runway until my Boomerang was trying to climb it. Head on crash quite fast into steel pole was not a pretty sight. It broke the prop smashed top and bottom bit of fuse and broke fire wall. 5 hours later with some appoxy 5 and thin ply wood my boomerang is ready to fly again. My new nickname in my club is pole dancer @import url(http://www.modelflying.co.uk/CuteEditor_Files/Style/SyntaxHighlighter.css);@import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css);

    Trainers

    Im new to flying myself but in my experience the tri -cycle style of under carrage that comes on most trainer aircraft is alot easier to contoll on the ground. The tri cycle style also protect the front of the aircraft in heavy landings ie propeller etc. @import url(http://www.modelflying.co.uk/CuteEditor_Files/Style/SyntaxHighlighter.css);@import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css);
  21. Cheers lads. went up again today just to check it wasn't a fluke and everything went ok. couple of heavy landings ending in bent landing gear but soon straightend out nothing major. Good luck with your first solo Dave it feels like a life changing moment.
  22. I went to my club today and met up with instructor after a couple of flights and successful take offs and landings he said that im ready to fly solo. So with the help of my instructor talking me through it I had a couple of solo flights. feeling was amazing...... Its took me 6 lessons on the buddy lead. I know I have still got alot to learn but I am so chuffed.. @import url(http://www.modelflying.co.uk/CuteEditor_Files/Style/SyntaxHighlighter.css);@import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css);
  23. Hi all just come back from my club and got my 3rd 4th and 5th flight in today. chuffed to bits on how its going. instructor thinks im doing really well too.   I was learning take offs and landings today. all take offs were very smooth, landings were ok even thought i did go through 2 props from missing runway. the wind was blowing quite strong and the instructor was a bit dubious about flying but glad we did now as it boosted my confidence. @import url(http://www.modelflying.co.uk/CuteEditor_Files/Style/SyntaxHighlighter.css);@import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css);

  25. Well had my second flight today and everything went excellent again. figure of 8 pattern felt alot more smooth and my confidence was boosted. still came away with a big smile and very numb thumbs. @import url(http://www.modelflying.co.uk/CuteEditor_Files/Style/SyntaxHighlighter.css);@import url(/CuteEditor_Files/public_forums.css);
