  1. Thanks for your reply Speedster. I have other planes setup using 8 channel receivers and have to admit it is easy to get all the functions using the Sailplane setup. The 6 channel receivers are used where spare is a bit tight. I looked at the link you posted but correct me if i'm wrong but you only seem to have flaps on the throttle not butterfly? Just to confirm what i'm looking for is Proportional crow on the throttle stick. Camber adjustment (full width ) on the flap switch for thermal and reflex Snap flap full width ailerons Thanks in advance if anyone can help me out. Cheers Tony
  2. Hi A question for all you Spektrum DX8 users. I have a couple of 4 servo wing mouldies which I have setup and flown, one has a AR610 receiver in and the other a AR6100e. I have managed to setup the crow and full width Ailerons but I can't seem to get either full width camber adjustment or snap flap to work, in both instances one of the flaps doesn't move. I have read tons post on the forums and followed several different instructions but still end up with one flap not moving. As I said crow brakes and full width Ailerons work. Would be interested if anyone has cracked it if they could post there file so I can copy it , or send me a detailed , step by step guide on how its done. Many Thanks Tony
  3. Chaps. I Its time for a new mouldie but which one?????? I already have a couple of 60" gliders and would class myself as "intermediate" in the skill set and only fly for pleasure, but would possible think about some competition flying down the line. Planes on my radar are the "Typhoon" or "Tucan" from rcrcm or " the Schwing" or the Alex XL. All the suggested are 2m but I'm wondering if I should think of looking at a bigger size. I don't do any competitions at he minute but would like to think I might be able to do some in the future so possibly a f3f might be a better buy. Budget wise I'm thinking up too £500 for the airframe. Suggestions welcome!!!!!
  4. Simon I used 255 savox servos all round on mine. After speaking with tony fu at sloperacer he recommended these as you can slide them between the skins if you remove the mounting holes which gives you a bit more room for the linkage. Its a tight fit but mine is a couple of years old now and had been trouble free. Can't comment on fitting the control horns as mine came pre fitted.? Hope you enjoy your bird as much as I have. Cheers Tony
  5. Hi i have a sunbird 60 with a four servo wing which I have setup full wing ailerons, my question is do the flaps follow the ailerons exactly or a percentage of the aileron travel. I guess I could just try it but with the weather were having who knows when that will be manys thanks
  6. Hi Paul. I have the same fault with TX, i was programming today my first model with it and it did exactly as you decribed, I thought that was weird, anyway made me feel a little uncomfitable about the transmitters performance. Interested in what spektrum have to say about it. Cheers Tony
  7. Can somebody recommend a good first DLG glider. Don't want to spend a fortune but do want it to have ailerons. This is not going to be my main interest but would prefer a DLG rather than a big thermal glider any advice would be grateful, don't want to by a dog Cheers
  8. Thanks for that, for a while there I thought I was gonna have to get a 7 channel receiver. Just need to find a bit of time to play with the dx8 Thanks again
  9. Help wanted ???? I have just purchased a dx8 transmitter to upgrade from my dx6i. Ive been flying my sunbird 60 with 4 servo wing using a servo reversing lead for the flaps on the throttle channel which worked just fine for crow braking but lacked the extra functions like different flight modes, hence the upgrade, having brought the dx8 I looked on the spectrum community site for a download of a 4 servo wing but was surprised when the setup states it requires a 7 channel receiver , but the throttle is not used. My question is why do you need a 7 channel receiver to do a job that a 6 channel receiver can do?? i haven't had any time to play with the dx8 yet but guess I'm going to have to do the mixes from scratch. Is there enough mixes to get all the 4 servo wing functions, including cruise, reflex and launch modes using a ar6200??? Many thanks Tony
  10. Looks great, I maidened my weasel last week and have to say there are Brilliant!!! Just remember to reduce the rates and dial in some expo as there extremely sensitive. To be honest they make me look a lot better pilot than I actually am, but they give you lots of confidence and you can try lots of aerobatics and easily recover if you get it wrong Have fun Tony
  11. Well it's taken a while to finish, due to work and other none flying related things but the sunbird was finally ready to maiden, so with a moderate westerly I set off to my local slope, surprisingly quiet for a lovely sunny day , so with a few nerves I took the plunge and launched my first mouldie. Now im not the most experienced pilot , as ive only been flying about a year but nothing ventured nothing gained kept telling myself, but at nearly £400 fully kitted out you do have second thoughts!!!! I was slightly worried about the trim for the Tailplane and visions of it flying straight into the ground but as it turns out it was spot on, this plane certainly carries some speed, I didn't really push it , just enjoyed zipping along the slope and some doing some fast turns, nerves set in again with the thought of landing as my hands were getting cold, I tested the the crow brakes at height and all looked ok other than slightly too much elevator comp, After bringing her round the back of the slope I applied the crow and she floated down with ease, and a big smile on my face, can't wait to get another nice day and have a play with the rates and expo. That's the maiden over with and she's still in one piece, great fun !!!!
  12. Thanks again, I've seen some of the other build blogs It was really hearing from somebody who had used the Savox servos that I was trying to find, I think I've worked it all out now but you know how it is, you do one way then you see somebody elses way of doing it and wish you'd done it that way.
  13. Thanks for that, I did consider rising the tube like that, I still Not sure how to secure the end cap though???? Managed to get one of the flap servos sorted last night, ( spoke to Tony at slope racer and he told me to slide it between the two skins, it's very tight but just about do,able, This gives enough room for the linkage.
  14. Can you help, I,m presently building a rcrcm sunbird60 Using savox 0255 servos, I'm finding everything a bit tight, especially the wing servos. I'm also a liitle confused how the ballast tube locking system works, if you have any photos or advice your willing to share I would be very grateful. Many thanks
  15. Thanks Lee for taking the time to explain these terms for me, it just make me realise how much I have to learn, and no thanks to you Tim, as you now have me thinking again as to what radio to buy. I thought I was settled on a DX8 but your the second person that seems to favour the JR, personal recommendation from guys like yourselves is difficult to ignore.   I guess am gonna have to research this a little more.   Lee you were right, this really is a mine field!!!!!   Thanks again
