  1. Thank-you chaps, I will look at all the above mentioned options further over the weekend, it sounds like i'm not alone in updating older models to new technology. I'll keep you all posted as to how I go on..........
  2. Can anyone suggest an outrunner that will give a simalar out put to a Graupner Speed 600BB geared to 2.8/1   I want to replace this brushed motor with a brushless outrunner in a sailplane with an AUW of 1800grams.   What I am looking for is a good climb to height, not aerobatic performance, would like to use the existing prop 5mm shaft 14" x 8" My battery selection could be either 2,3 or 4S, escape to match as required.   If someone can suggest a good motor that will not break the bank.........   Many Thanks
  3. What is this one Tom?   Ava?   Much more what I'm after......
  4. 2.4 M span running Aveox 1406/2Y 3.7 to 1 gear ratio and a 13x8 prop   80 amps and 904 watts aprx   Goes like a bat out of somewhere?   Vertical from static hand launch.   I do not know the model as I bought it second hand.   Would be nice to fly it slower, might look at putting a larger lighter wing on it, and then balance for one lipo.   Any suggestions?
  5. As you can see, very short nose, batteries fit very snugly behind brushless motor.   Lipo packs will be charged on their own, with dedicated balance charger.   The other reason for wanting to double battery capacity is that using the Electric Motor Calculator the estimated full throttle run time for my set up with one 3350 battery is only 2 minutes 25 seconds, so to double it to nearly 5 minutes would be great.
  6. Thank-you Chris, this being the case does anybody make a harness to connect in Parallel using XT60 connectors, i can only find connectors for series connection
  7. I have bought 14.8 volt 3350mAh Lipo packs to replace my existing NiMh battery packs, also thinking that I would get a great saving on weight for my Electric Glider. Fantastic weight saving, but the amount of lead needed to balance the plane means there is no weight saving at all. How do I go about coupling two lipo packs together to still give me 14.8 volts, as this will bring the C of G back to the right place and also give me a much greater run time as the battery will double up to 6700mAh   Do they need to be coupled in series or parallel? Can they be stacked one on top of the other with velcro or do I need to put something between them?   Many Thanks for your help.
  8. I recently bought a complete airframe (Hotliner) with motor, esc and batteries all in place. The aircraft has a span of 2450mm R E A and M control.   The motor is a geared AVEOX 1406/2Y 40,000RPM MAX 80A Peak hard wired to an AVEOX Hybridrive M160C esc 4-21 cells 70A cont. 120A 10 secs. This was being driven by a pack of 16 x NiMH 3300 cells.( very heavy)   my questions are this,   Is the motor / escape combination any good? can I run the combination on LIPO batteries if so what do I need? If not, can someone suggest a motor/esc combination to replace it?  Edited By NIGEL CASTLE on 04/04/2011 20:51:53
