  1. i have bought an old Easy Street still in the box, but no idea of the size of battery or size of motor and speed controller needed. All the drawing are showing very old electric set ups. Hoping someone can advise on a more up to date set up. Thanks.

  2. Hi Guys

I'm well behind all of you on this build, I have just received my wood pack, but thinking now to go electric. I'm new to electric so still finding it all a black art. I have a BL2832/05 which came out of a plane I bought and turned into IC. So I am looking for your advice to see whether this motor would be OK and what battery's and ESC I should use. The electric aircraft I have are all powered by 4s 2200 lipo,s.

    Thanks Tom

  3. Hi Dylan, well let's try again.

Just got the drawing printed at Staples, I asked for full size but I,m not sure of what I got. As I said orinally this plane was around in the late 80,s great flyer, but they are only RTF these days, which I don't buy. From that you can guess my age.

I have in on a memory stick also, so what would you prefer, the drawing as it is, or both.

What address do you want me to send it all to.

    Thanks again

  4. Hi everyone, I have bought a DB Jodel in very good condition, but it has been changed to electric and I,m trying to convert it back to IC. All looks straight forward enough but i,m not sure of the position of the engine mount.

So can someone please advise me of the exact position to fit the mount. The original has been changed.

    Thanks

  5. Hi everyone

i keep reading that the Frsky is compatible with Futaba, what I,m looking for is some to tell me that is so. I read so many articles on the subject, but to be honest I never believe most of them.

i have 7c transmitter and using r617fs RX. So help needed as I,m like most and looking for a cheaper receiver.

    thanks

  6. Well what a response. Points have been suggested that would never enter my mind. So a big thanks to everyone.

This morning I see this Foamie is back in stock after many months. So I have ordered another and hope I get this one right. I must admit I wanted the parkzone Spitfire but as we know these are no longer made.

I shall assemble the new one and try to address all the suggestions put forward, but please don't stop, I,m open to all ideas.

    thanks again

  7. Right, when if flew without flaps it would become uncontrollable at lower speeds, and pitch from side to side.

Flaps put down on approach for landing would make matters worse. Flying at high speed was OK. But you can't land on grass flat out. I could take it off the deck with no issues and fly around OK. The moment revs were reduced the problems would start.

  8. Hi Bill

i only use the flaps to land, normally I'm flying full throttle, which is not too fast on these. I finished up not using the flaps at all.

I,m a B standard flyer, but this thing was very twitchy.

  9. Hi Guys, I need your help. I bought one of these last year and from day one had lots of problems.

whenever I put the flaps down, to land it went out of control. After a few very lucky landings I stopped using the flaps. It would take off ok then suddenly tip stall, last flight broke the fuselage.

bought a new fuselage and no difference, sometimes flew ok others it was uncontrollable, mainly when slowing up. Last flown mid summer when it took off ok I turned at the far end of the field which looked ok, then it was all over the place and again heading to the ground which left me with another broken spitfire.

Any ideas please. I balanced it to the 70 mm as instructed, but it's the flaps down bit that worried me. As I said all over the place, and no control.

i want to buy another, if they ever get China to make enough, but .............

  10. Hi Gents

i know it's awhile after your original comments, but I have bought a Sig kit direct from USA. No one in the UK has stock. British customs had their share. But the point I,m trying to make is that the quality of the wood in the kit was dire. So soft on the wings, every time I picked it up I put my fingers through the panelling. Also when building the fuselage the bits did not fit. Looks like the dies are wearing, one side was bigger than the other. Love the Hog have fallen out with Sig. Flair would be on a winner at the moment. Just bought original F Dunn plans, so will sit in the garage for the spring cutting bits out, unless you know a good laser cutting service.

  11. I should have known better. Had 2 Flair, one built up wing, one foam. Both good builds and great to fly, but got a bit tatty in the garage and couldn't be bothered to recover, so off they went. I saw one on ebay to build but the muppet wanted £300 for it.

great plane dire kit. Come back Flair.

  12. Hi all

fell I needed to go into print, if nothing else to make me feel better.

well I have been after a Hog for ages, built a few Flair over the years and eventually sold them on as ones interest changes. Well I have seen a couple down the field and thought, I should have kept them.

So I tried to buy a kit, no one in the UK has stock. Sussex told me delivery should be in November, that was back in July. So as impatient as I am I bought one from SIG.

It arrived, I'll say that, customs took the mick, box split in half, but no damage.

    Contacted SIG no answer.

So it starts raining and I start building. Nothing like Flair, when I opened the box.

Rather than write war and peace, as I easily could, let's just say they must have produced thousands of these over the years as a good few of the pressed out parts were oversize and needed trimming to the drawing, and the marked out bit had thick ink lines so you could not make out the edges.

I have now reached the stage where all is built up but now needs rubbing down, as you do a lot of this on a Hog. My gripe is the standard of the wood used. I have never had a kit like it. I put my fingers through the wing panelling just removing it from the building board. It's either very hard where you can't get a pin in or so soft the pin will not hold it together.

For the first time in my model building time, I will not mention the years , I actually felt like jumping on it, and binning it, but I kept thinking of the money. Never felt like that before, normally little bits go wrong, but here it was the whole build.

Blood pressure coming down now, so anyone thinking of buying one don't bother.compared to Flair this kit is over priced and not in the same class.

Will not be contacting SIG, seeing as I'm still waiting an answer ref the packing.

looking back now I,m sure the tooling has worn so too big. They must be buying cheap grade wood, or their quality control is non exsistent.

    thanks Tom

  13. Hi all

great to see the wonderful job done with the paint tin. Mine is covered in film. Can someone please explain how to cover with the tissue and dope. Last time I did that I was 13 year old playing with control line. And what a state I used to get in.

plane flys really well, just not happy with the solar film, and now I,m building another I want a better finish.

  14. I have been reading many comments on the pushy cat, so decided to build one.

well I flew it for the first time today, although very apprehensive, my pal launched it and it quite happily just flew away with no vices at all. In fact my comments were "oh" as it went away. I was expecting it to dive, dip or deviate from the flight line. It went straight and level. Could not believe what a pussy cat it was. Great flight at low or high speed.

landed ok with no problem, but it did drift on a bit with no wind.
