  1. Well its day 2 and I thought I had better make a start before I get so far behind I won’t know what I’m doing. It was a good idea starting a day behind Danny as I can have his blog open whilst I’m putting things together. Pictures 1&2 are self explanatory but 3 is my attempt at getting the fin post central. I also took Danny’s advice on laminating the fin post from 2 pieces of 1/8 balsa. I will fit the second laminate tomorrow when everything is dry and solid. By the look of picture 4 it seems to of been a success. I look forward to your comments. Well that’s all Folks!! Be sure to follow the next exciting installment. Dennis
  2. Danny, Just one last thing. When I was looking at the plans earlier today I was thing of making the fins leading edge out of a sheet of 1/4" balsa. ie cutting the curve. is this not advisable? Dennis
  3. Hi Danny, The level of content is brilliant! I have set up everything today and I have a free morning tomorrow, so intend to make a start then. I will let you know how it proceeds. Dennis
  4. Danny Don't the CA maker the joints brittle? Or does it not matter? i will start a small blog with photos of my progress. That should be interesting!! Dennis
  5. Just found all the other build blogs! Looks like I'll be following everyone a day or so behind. Danny, saw your work on the rudder and I think that is where I will start. Do you recommend using super glue or aliphatic as the main adhesive? Dennis
  6. So the great day has arrived!!! Being a complete novice who has never built a model before I need all the guidance I can get. Danny, what will be the order of play so i can get organised. Thanks Dennis
  7. Pm sent to Colin so make that 13 I believe!   Dennis Edited By Chris Bott - Moderator on 04/10/2014 18:03:04
  8. Hi guys, As the build date creeps up upon us has anybody created a definitive list of the extra wood we will require? Dennis
  9. Hi Colin, Can I be added to the expanding list for instrument panels. Thanks Dennis
  10. Hi All, Just received my oleos from Hobby Kink. Did any of you have to pay an £11.60 excess to the Post office for excess customs duty? Dennis
  11. Hinges ordered from SLEC, Wood pack coming from Traplet, have plan, cowl & canopy so, almost ready to start! Has anybody gone through the plan to list what additional wood and materials we will need come October? Dennis
  12. Danny Can I be added to this new list for hinges. I have sent an email to Slec requesting the same and await their reply. Thanks Dennis
  13. Hi Nigel, Chris, I suspect I wont be the only one to sign up after reading about it in RCME and its a long time till October! So heres hoping to an extended list of people wanting a second batch of hinges! Its so good to see that I'm not alone at being a novice! Dennis
  14. Hello All, After reading Danny's article in RCME and the previous 36 pages of this blog I am hoping that it is not too late to join the build? Having never built a model as intricate as this I do however already have a copy of the plans, cowl and canopy in cold storage waiting for the day when I felt confident enough to build it. Add to this the fact is it is going to be electric then all my reasons for not starting have been answered! I have just ordered the wood pack from Traplet but was unable to get a copy of the March/April 1999 edition of RC Scale International as it is out of stock, but I'm sure I will get by without it. Finally is it possible to get a set of hinges from somewhere or am I way too late? Regards Dennis Mulhair
  15. Hi phil, Thanks for replying but I am still no further on. I have the required leads to connect my PC to the FRsky kit but do I connect to the display FLD02 as all the instructions as in Hungarian and there is no help within the program. Also, I have figured out that RSSI is the signal strength so the parameters reccomended by FRsky should be OK But I still dont understand where inputs A1 & A2 are connected to as my Lipo is connected via the FLVS-01 unit and the hub FSH01 to the RS232 port "RX" in the receiver. So, I think (but i could be wrong) that the A1 port is monitoring the NiMh receiver battery as the A1 & X pins are connected by a jumper, and nothing is connected to the A2 port. So how do I set up an alarm for the Lipo? Dennis
  16. Hi, I am having a few problems setting up the FRsky telemetry on my model aircraft. I have checked their website and all software levels seem to be correct. I have tried downloading their manuals but still cannot set the units up correctly. The following are attached to my Futaba FF9 transmitter. DFT unit fitted to the transmitter, FLD-02 Display, D8R-11 receiver, FSH-01 sensor Hub & FLVS-01 Lipo sensor. Within the aircraft I have a separate NimH battery to power the electronics and servos whilst the 4 cell lipo only powers the motor. The link is in on the A1 port enabling the onboard voltage sensor within the receiver for the NimH battery. Nothing is connected to the other analogue port A2 whilst the Sensor hub is connected to the Rx port. With the Lipo connected and everything switched on I can see the individual cell voltages for the lipo but I do not know how to set up the alarms. Their documentation shows that there are 6 alarm ports A1-1, A1-2, A2-1 A2-2, RSSI1 & RSSI2. I cannot figure out how these are set up and I do not know how to set up the Volt ratio or if it is relevant to the Analogue port monitoring the NimH battery or the FLVS-01 or not. Has RCME ever done a review of this equipment and if so could someone tell me which issue so I can read it. Thanks Dennis Mulhair
