  1. Hello Timo. Thanks for your reply. I have already cut out all the parts so the Yak will be built! I may buy a new .15 OS LA and keep the .25 for another project. Another member of our local flying club has already built one and we are going to try and persuade others to build and join the fun👍 Will keep you posted on progress. Cheers James.
  2. Hello Timo, I am building your Yak-9 and I have a spare OS LA .25 looking for a home. I was enquiring if the OS LA .25 engine is too large for the design. The .25 is around 60 grams heavier. Your thoughts would be appreciated Cheers James.
  3. Hello Mike Just seen even your comment, sorry not been following my own forum posts! Been making some progress lately,( photos to follow) I have started sheeting the wing after joining the wing tips to the centre section. The retract are fitted and tested, this is my first attempt at using retracts and they were a lot of work. Have decided to use a servo for each aileron, never did like all the cranks and pushrod you get with one servo. Have ordered glass cloth for covering and will apply it using Poly C, I used it on my Airsail Chipmunk with good results. There is still quite a bit of balsa bashing to do but it is enjoyable. I have given myself a year to finish the build but it is now half through the year😯 Cheers James
  4. It’s been awhile since I’ve had time to continue the build, what with work,a house renovation, and a little bit of procrastination. However I’ve restarted and finished the lower deck framing and most of the sheeting. Then made a start to the centre section, it turned out to be easier than I first thought it would be. Retract should be arriving shortly, but I should be able to build the outer sections without the retract, just cannot join the pieces together.
  5. Yes Jon, it is exciting, the problem is keeping the momentum up. I have also found that some of the supplied wood is incredible hard. I replaced the 1/2” thick top sheet and all the top 3/32 with soft ones I had in stock. I’ll use the supplied wood in the wood burner to keep us warm! I noticed in an earlier forum that a builder reccomended using a separate snake for the taIl wheel rather than what Top Flite show on the plan i.e combining the rudder and tail wheel on to the same snake.I think adjustment would be difficult if not impossible in the plan suggested method. Has anyone any experience of this set up? Cheers
