  1. i thought mine was a bit early as well, arived this morning, will be doing a bit of reading this afternoon.
  2. the one prroblem i have had with stripping down a engine to eather clean it or replace the bearings is on one engine i managed to shere every single cyilder head bolt, which lead to the engine being about as useful as a chocolate tea pot!! any ideas to prevent be doing this again?
  3. i think i might need to try and get my hands on some of this fairy power spray. do i need to strip the engine down to use this stuff effectivly or just clean it as it is?
  4. i said other because some of the crashes at my club have been down to radio problems, insuficent take off speed, engine problems, pilot error and most of the other catorgorys listed in the poll.
  5. all of these ideas sound like they could do the job, my dad has sugested using petrol or paint thinners to get rid of the gunk would these work as well?
  6. hi as you may have heard from another thread i have just receved a webra speed 40 glow engine, and it needs a good scrub up to get it shinning again. this leeds me to a problem in that im not sure the how best to clean it because iv heard of lots of different ways to clean then, leaving it in petrol over night, cooking it in glow fuel, fairy power spray, leaving it in brown sauce!!! and many more. but which is the best way to clean it and do i need to completlyy strip it back to clean it? chris
  7. i have just spoken to the guy i brought the engine off of and he said a 10x6 would be the best for it, so have just ordered a 10x6 prop so should be able to play with my new engine at the weekend hopfully.
  8. i think it is from the 70s/80s so would a 10x6 be a good start, as it will be put onto a super slinky i intend to build once my exams have finished
  9. hi i have recently got a webra speed 40 glow engine and am wandering what size prop to put on it, will the prop be the same size used on any 40 size engine? or does it need a specific size? chris
  10. thanks for the info worden, i was thinking about these for the ailerons and these for the elevator, rudder and throttle. should these do the job?
  11. for the ailerons would 16/17g servoes be ok or would standard size be better?
  12. i think the mini servos might help to reduce the overall weight of the model i have found these servos would these do the job or would you recomend anything better? chris
  13. hi i will be soon be receving a webra speed 40 engine and am thinking i might build the super slinky plane features in the mag a coulpe of months ago, but was wondering where can i get standard size servo mounts to put in the wing, i can find mounts for mini servos but carnt seem to find standard size ones anywhere. do they exist or do i need to make them? chris
  14. i have just had another idea, simalar to bobs in that it involves cutting the pipe in two places so that you can bend it upp and across to get the pipe and thecannister lined up, then weld up the joints, it will be much stronger and more heat resetand then silicon tube. then the gap between the pipe and the cannister should be inline making it alot more easy to fit a silicon pipe to fill the gap. chris
  15. allan what i would do would be to bend the pipe upwards after the u shaped manafold by the head and then bend it back down a bit further along to get them in line and then fill the gap with silicon piping. is it easy to bend or does it definatly need heat on it to make it more flexable? chris
  16. cymaz, as a member of banbury model flying club i know that we are going to try and have a funfly event each month.
  17. going to the rear of the fan would work on a sort of vacuum principle, sounds like it could also work. good idea ben
  18. hi i am thinking about retiring my phase 3 fantom. which will leave my with a 50mm edf unit and i was thinking about what i could do with it when i came up this this idea. you will have to excuse the drawing art isnt my strong point!! anyway i was thinking that by puting a sort of by-pass around the outside of the edf, the force of the air being pulled in by the edf might pull or push air into the by-pass creating more thrust, also that as the air from the edf pass's the back of the by-pass it might create a vacuum and pull air into the by-pass. not sure if it will work or not, what do people think?   chris Edited By chris edwards 3 on 14/04/2013 16:00:25 Edited By chris edwards 3 on 14/04/2013 16:07:40
  19. hi i have broken the servo which operates the retracts on my p-51 mustang and was wondering if there are specific retract servos or weather it is just a high touque servo? another possability is to chage it to servoless retracts, but this means buying two units instead of one servo. which would be the better option? chris
