  1. Thanks Tony, As I said before, I've never done electric so this is all new to me.......... Cheers, John
  2. Tony,  I thought about that but I thought the tube method looked more secure. Great model by the way. It's going together much quicker than I expected. One question though. My motors havn't arrived yet (brushless) so can I just go ahead with the nacelles and fix the motors later wit a few screws? Cheers, John
  3. O c**p. I finally got through to FA this morning and ordered the stuff although he didn't seem to sure about what I was lookin for. I thought they would have a few sets made up but obviously not. I'll wait and see what they send me before I think about carbon. Cheers, John
  4. Does anyone know where to get the tubes for joining the wings on the Lanc, phelonic and ali. I can't get through to Falcon Aviation. Alternatively does any know another phone number for F A other than the one provided on the plan. There website is down as well.  Cheers, John
  5. I started RC Flying when I was 14. I got a trainer for my 14th birthday. I'm only 18 now but I don't even remember how I found out about the hobby. I was lucky in that my dad has always been interested in this kind of thing so he helped when I started. Since then I have have built 5 artfs......well assembled, and 3 kits (Never crashed one either which is more than I can say for the other club members). At the minute I am build Tony Nijhuis's Lanc. Personally, I have not found any problem with buying any of the materials required for the hobby, except the money of course. I am probably the youngest person in my club (the average age is about 85) I am now teaching my dad to fly.........he's a slow learner but he's getting there......lefts and rights and all that. I'm in Ireland and i believe that our national organisation, MACI, are now organising some kind of education program to encourage youths to take up the hobby. I think that the main problem with the take up of this hobby by young people is the cost. Most don't have jobs and unless your parents will help chances are you will not be able to afford it. Many of my friends have been dicouraged by the cost. I have been working for a few years, (used to cut grass but have now moved on to better things) so I always funded myself but this is not the norm, in my area anyway. I do think though, that clubs could make more of an effort to encourage the hobby at a local level as most people I know have never heard of an rc plane with an i.c. engine. When they here about rc planes they think of the little 2 channel things sold in toy shops. I personally think that these planes make the hobby look a bit childish and people will not appreciate the skill invloved in flying a plane. John C
  6. What set-up did Lew use? I read through the forum again and I couldn't find it. Does anyone know if you you need gearboxes for the 3 blade props on a brushless motor. Also, what servos are people using for this motor? How powerful should they be? Is 1.6kg/cm of torque enough for this type of model? Cheers, John
  7. Thanks Tony, Could I just use 1 ESC over 100Amp or do I need seperate ESCs for each motor. Also would I need to use gearboxes if using the 3 blade props. Thanks, John
  8. Hi everyone, I ordered my Lancaster yesterday. Hopefully it will arrive next week. I know nothing about electric rc but would you think this set up would be suitable: 4 x https://www.unitedhobbies.com/UNITEDHOBBIES/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=2046 2 x https://www.unitedhobbies.com/UNITEDHOBBIES/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=2045 If so, what kind of speed controller should I use. Would I need more than one? As I said before I really dont know anything about it. I would appreciate a response as I would like to have everything ordered before I start to build. John
  9. Hi everyone, I have wanted to build this Lanc for a while but have been put off by the problems with the plans. Is the 3rd plans print 100% correct. I just wanted to double check as it would be a bit awkward sending things back and forth from Ireland. Thanks, John.
  10. Wow! Those videos are amazing. What plane/ setup are you using? John
