  1. Can any one tell inform me if when using "bonus points" for purchases with a large hobby company & the amount of your bonus points is more than enough to cover the cost of the item; does the amount (or is there any need for it to) show in your Pay Pal statements (i e in your next bank statement attatched to Pay Pal) Really would appreciate info about this.
  2. Speaking of Hobby King purchases: has any-one been in touch with Scott lately? have sent him a couple of messages recently about some items from H K but have had no reply as yet: any suggestions?Ross B.
  3. Mmm! Interestinger & interestinger?Maybe there's a Xtal conspiracy happening? Will file your notes PB & yes a few of us old fellas down here use 36MHz : I have AM / FM / & 2.4(we call it multi skilling) Mind you a lot of people are still trying to reach our distant land eh! Enjoyed watching some of your Olympics. RB.
  4. P S John,to answer your question; I was trying to set up another model by using a spare Rx I had which didn't already have a Xtal. So I figured by just finding another Rx Xtal everything would be fine. So far the story has been more than interesting.
  5. P S. You only mention Rx colours? does that mean the Tx is or can be different> Keep up the good work.
  6. Thanks Andy, I suspect its the "colour coding" that may have me confused:I have red, green yellow & black. My oldest F M radio is a Hitec with a removable module (Xtal within) & my youngest is also a Hitec.Didn't know much about the "dual conversion" : some of the Xtals have lost the coloured tab off the end through handling but the No's are still legable. I also have a Corona dual conversion Rx that (RP6D1) I can't get to co-operate. Have previously had one working O K If the end coloured tab has gone is there any way of determining the "modus operandus" of a Xtal? By the way,the quoted No's were both 36.370. My key board misses whole words occasionally. Of course I should check before posting.
  7. I have been collecting Xtls since I first stated flying with A M radio a long time ago but now with 2.4Gig & F M there's some confusion with "matching" Xtls: typically my green tagged 36.370 RX does not whant to "talk" to my green tagged TX 36.70 Xtl ? There seems to be a "oils ain't oils" condition here somewhere. Is there a simple rule of thumb to be aware of here. Apart from not swapping Xtls around which we have all done.
  8. Thanks for all the ideas fellas.:will get cracking.
  9. Does any-one have small easy to down load plans for a "chuck"glider? Want to build a couple for grand kids for when they visit. (3 & 5 years) Get em early I say.
  10. Thanks for that Dave: have you tried fixing solar film to E P O? If it would work I imagine it would be lighter than the "peel & stick "sheeting?
  11. Have just baught an E P O MX2 model without any covering: (covering comes in large sheets to be applied by purchaser). Aileronsare quite large with very little torsional strength. Does any-one have any great ideas on making them more rigid apart from applying the the supplied "peel off"sheeting. On a smaller model i used 1.5mm. carbon rod glued to the trailing edge of the ailerons which seems to work well but the MX2 ailerons are much bigger. Suggestions please?
  12. Thanks for that Scott: will send those details via PM (again) & wait a couple of weeks for you to return to base. I did include my email address by the way.
  13. Interesting comments from S-R-B regarding H K after sales (hit & miss) Scott says "you only have to ask" which is exactly what I did two years ago but my plea fell on deaf ears: maybe its because "down under"is so far away? Maybe Scott has a suggestion? Would love to hear from you Scott?
  14. Nice to hear the good news on warranties Scott: did you get the information about my "not yet returned" Tx Rx & esc yet? Thanks mate, Ross Blackwell.
  15. Hi there crazeUK,I too have a Honey B King as yet unflown (Ihave several other helis waiting to be flown) the reason its still sitting is that most of my time is taken up with fixed wing flying at present. My first heli was a Belt CP which is now about three years old : I spent quite a bit of time skidding (to the left) across the concrete garage floor with a cheap fixed pitch heli before deciding that something more sophisticated was the way to go. My first flight at local tennis club was really good until:::::::: take-off & forward flight was easier than I had hoped , even turning. The mistake I made was because my friend had suggested "don't get too high for a start" & I was already 3mtrs. up & going gang busters; better come down a bit but whoops cut throttle too quickly & did enough damage to need some spares. I would like to see more info in print about trimming, throttle curve, gyro settings etc. I do have a web address with good advice which I will post if I can find it. by the way the reason I got myself the H B King is that I found it was the easiest model to fly on my simulator
  16. Have sent Scott a couple of notes so will be keen to see results.
  17. I don't believe i violence eitherStartaz & I too have only ever had the one problem with H K :but as the items were a Tx,Rx &esc I feel obliged to be concerned. Dealing with so many different individuals was perhaps the problem. As a large busines surely the left hand would keep an eye on what the right hand was doing? From what has transpired over the last few days I feel sure that Scott may be able to achieve a positive result.
  18. Thanks for nthat Olly, I think I need to "get out more!"
  19. Hi there David, my apologies in advance for contacting you via the forum but from previous experiences you won't be surprised to find me struggling with your usual "modus operandus" in this forum. I am unable to convey a point of view without "stumbling" over my own feet. How does one P M someone? I would appreciate your advice in this area please?
  20. Hopefully I can find suitable jargon / means to convey relevant details to Scotty : Garbo, don't be afraid.
  21. Ross, I've deleted what is, in part, private data, please PM Scotty. David.     Edited By David Ashby - RCME on 06/08/2012 07:45:18
  22. Thanks a lot for responding Scott: I kept records of communication for a long time hoping that some-one would do the right thing but deleted most in frustration: this was the only time that things have not gone to plan. I will do some research & post as much info as I can for your perusal. Thanks, Ross Blackwell.
  23. Whoops! Maybe I got my terminology wrong there. At least I know what "soak test" means now. The only time I've water tested mine was an occasion while flying out over the ocean from a usually reliable site & fell into a big "sink" Retrieved everything but life was never the same after
  24. Just looked up the EMC compliance suggested Walston flyer (thanks for that) & that makes it a little easier to follow. Shall file that away for future reference. On another forum I see where someone "water soaks" Rx & esc's before use? Does anyone really do that?
  25. Hi there Scott, I did all the things you suggested even sent my gear back registered mail & recieved emails confirming reciept but almost every time there was correspondence some-one new was on the other end: I'm sure it would be difficult to trace after two yrs. as Tasmania is an awful long way away. But I would like to hear your comments.
