  1. Hi Pat, Thanks for sharing your experiance with me on this, I have taken your advice and have ordered everything I need (i think) to convert the model. I decided to go with your original suggestion of the bigger motor, as the model is by no means over powered with the magnum .10 and I don't intend to open the throttle up very often . Thanks a lot for your help with this, I will post some pics of the conversion. As an aside, I was planning on using my futaba 9zap on 35mhz as I am unable to find a cheap 2.4 ghz conversion for this transmitter. I was wondering is 35mhz safe to use with electrics these days? (perhaps I should start this in another thread) Regards James
  2. Hi Pat, thanks for your help with this, I have just weighed the model and it is comming in at 1.32 lbs with engine and an empty 2oz tank, with a wing area of approx 350 sq.in. So it is quite light for its size. Hope that helps, thanks again.. James.

  4. Pat, I forgot to ask what you think would be a suitable Lipo for your suggested setup? Would this one be acceptable? Tipple 3S 2300 Regards, James   Edited By Chris Bott - Moderator on 27/03/2012 20:00:09
  5. Hi Pat, thanks for the good advice, I hadn't seen the database before and it looks to be a wealth of information. Sound advice about nose weight and something that I hadn't considered until you mentioned it. I will have a good read of all availible information on these pages before I take the plunge. I can't believe I have waited so long to get into electrics . Thanks again..James.

  7. Gents, This is my first posting on in this wonderful forum after lurking here for sometime. I am currently flying this vintage style model with an old Magnum .10 2 stroke turning an 8x4 master airscrew prop and would like to try to convert it to electric. I guess I am after some advice really, I am new to the world of electrics and have been looking on the Giant Cod website for a suitable motor/esc/lipo but am struggling to make a comparison with the Magnum. I would be extremely greatful to any one that can point me in the right direction with this, I am only testing the waters right now so I would prefer a budget route. Many thanks again for a great website and forum.. James Green.
