  1. I think some suggestions are a bit OTT. Likely only a small percent of purchasers will have bought the "special" just for the plans and a similar percentage of subscription customers will build it. Quite a few "plans" elsewhere are a bit wonky, f'rinstance the ones with my Northstar kit, and yes that has been a known problem for a while.  I believe David will do his best to alleviate the problem, within reason.
  2. That does appear to suggest Rx overload/blocking from the camera transmitter when it is in close proximity to the flight RX. The type of modulation in such a case (from the Flight TX) is not relevant. Liken it to standing beside a noisy engine, you are not going to here the pin drop.
  3. Clamps, sorry, I do not like them. I once used them on an ARTF that had them in the box. Guess I also am finding building adds something to the overall enjoyment. The plane I wanted the bolts for is a "Northstar". I shall use the 3.5mm bolts with the sort of "blind" nuts which I got from SMC.
  4. Thank you chaps for the input. I am aware of the alternatives, however twas model dealers I was targeting as they supply top brand engines but not the specified/decent means to mount them.  I have also used self tapping screws with no problem, but I dont wish to use any but the specified 3.5mm items for this OS engine. No dealer response yet, perhaps they do not read this forum
  5. Got mine today. The first (and only) thing I have looked at so far is the typhoon article and plan. Did I not have another serious idea in mind I would have jumped at the wood and canopy packs. As it is I will have to "sleep on it" for a while. Good one RCM&E. The rest of the read will have to wait it's turn as I got some grass cutting at the strip done, non-stop for four and a half hours and I feel a bit Knacked. It was long that grass. Wet, wet, for weeks, and even sleet yesterday in Glen Nevis.
  6. Tried Modelfixings website too. They have 3.5 caphead bolts but not nyloc or similar nuts to match. I much prefer bolts of the correct size for the holes in the engine mounting lugs, less chance of mis-alignment or movement. Today I received 3.5mm engine bolts with a "small" slot head. They also have self securing nuts which means that the only means of tightening the bolt is with a screwdriver, not with the nut and certainly the use of thread lock IS a must.
  7. My latest, an OS46ax came with a plug. As did my last Irvine.
  8. Why, do dealers seem to have a problem supplying 3.5mm engine mounting bolts with locking nuts? More especially why is there a dearth of 3.5mm cap head bolts and locking nuts suitable for engine mounting. The is all stems from a continuing need for mounting bolts to fit two very well known engine types, Irvine and OS.  Screwdriver type bolt heads are not always the best, often the allen key style can be easier use in an application.  Sizes 3mm and 4mm are readily available, 4mm can be used on drilled out Irvine lugs however the lugs on my new OS .46 have nuch less metal.
  9. sadly, last month, RCM&E's "spot the transmitter" compition had no winners... Sadly, the above line from Cactus gets my vote so far, even with the speeling mastike
  10. For a friend marooned at Government lab. No battery tho! Try this guys, pure levitation
  11. Thanks Michael, The pics are of Ben Nevis not the Loch Insh one. I cannot remember where I aquired the pic of Jeremy's Stranraer at Loch Insh. Not one I took.
  12. Good luck with this project. My "Wallpaper" on the PC is of Jeremy Shaw's Stranraer flying at Loch Inch a good few years ago. Beautiful.
  13. The large model guys I have met so far have not been even slightly standoffish, maybe fifteen till now. All were happy to talk about thier models and even some one elses at times. Probably as always it depends on the time and place. Only one was kind of shy of a stranger as I met him three/four times before he loosened up. Just like any other people.
  14. Having received my August issue today I have not yet had a read of it. I did look to see when the publishing date was. Now, either it is a week late or four weeks early. The reason I checked this is that earlier this year I had a polite knock down when I queried why I had not received one, only to be told LOOK AT the NEW publishing date. I am still waiting to receive ANY of the freebies which subscribers were supposed to get. I think that follow-up reports on somefeatured models could be helpfull as the possible problems and suggested improvements could then be aired in print. Any hobby magazine has the problem of trying to satisfy newbies and the more experienced builder or just plain model flyers.
  15. At the SAA show at Castle Kennedy (Cults Airfield) a Flight Sim set-up with normal computer size screens up to a really nice near professional one went down a "bomb".
  16. Similar fuel problem. On the Saturday at the Loch Tay Splash-in I had a rough engine run on my Ready2, so I refueled, set it a bit richer and went for flight two. Engine cut, maybe half tank. Hmm, refueled for Flight three, engine cut again, on carrying the plane to pits I heard and felt the water sloshing in it. Now where the H,,, did that get in I asked meself. Only, was fuel wasn't it. The tanks' "brass" tubing had corroded and nearly disintegrated and fuel had bled back into the body. I should have checked sooner than flight three. Thanks for new bung and tube on Sunday George.
  17. Hi Grant, thats why I left it an "open" gallery. Any more join in?
  18. Had two "moments" with the same model, a Seamaster. First one I decided to put the aeriel wire inside the fuse, stretched it to the tail and glued it. Flew well till forty/fifty feet up and forty/fifty yards out. then vertical SPLAT. wire wasnt glued and had coiled back. Fixed model. Second "moment" I let myself be distracted when fitting the wing. Started take-off run, wing flew up, now got a high speed boat. No damage at all.
  19. Well that could be the case. It's not just Weston that could do this, also at most shows don't the pilots have a major input, and does it matter as the theme would be to show the public lots of ready cash is NOT required.
  20. I agree with Richard and Timbo about a "trainer plane" slot. Perhaps needs to be spread out on runway to do a proper visual to the punters tho'
  21. Grand Lee. I knew of a tutorial, the problem I find is the information one wants is like a grain of sand on a beach. Perhaps the info can be added to to a header in the gallery? Meybe is and I am to thick to see it.
  22. I enjoy this time of year here in our northerly area. I can save on "the electric" due to very long days and really short nights which seldom get dark. I wonder how our Three Peaks member got on with his endeavour? See the pic in the gallery in latest images, of Ben Nevis at 11pm the other night. If I can figure out how to link I will later.
  23. Model shops. I think only a few times in many dozen purchase orders have I actually got exactly what I asked for and in reasonable time. Oh, and RCM&E non existant free gifts.
