    Tips

WhenI had a stint at model flying I failed to offset the rudder when flying using controllines and lost the lot, then I covered the wings of another with tissue and doped it all, tried drying it in front of the fire and you guessed it lost the lot in flames. It got me thinking how do you cover wings these days? there must be easier and safer ways i,e. shrink wrap? so there is a need for catchup, a monthly catch up for the 25+ members who are not up to date on all aspects of building, R/C, clubs etc. So thats my suggestion A monthly catchup for the retun to the fold fliers and builders. ian muir

    Tips

I am trying to have fun cheaply and utilising cheap ready mades, plane and helicopters. I bought a £20 poly/helicopter and found it only went up and down (vertical flight) with some control to stop any spinning. In the model shop they suggested adding weight to the nose which would tip the heli into forward flight, maybe an easy idea to some but a valued suggestion to me and I hope many other ideas from other members may follow,i,e. cheap sustiutes for expensive items needed for the hobby etc.
  3. Yes, motor power related to model size or weight as related to a beginner flier and builder, this in relation to servo/battery requirements? In my case in relation to electric 2D/poly home made models. ian
  4. Hi Enjoying threads and getting plenty of input, am trying out cheap poly ready copters and planes and intend to build 2D (flat) planes and reuse the salvaged items from the shop bought poly types. It would be easier if there was a sliding scale of motor to plane weight/type of use/span to give an idea of what to look for in estimating parts needed to carry out a project. ian
