  1. Rapide    I looked for the eBay model but couldn't find it.  I believe it has appeared on eBay before but got no takers.  The seller is somewhere in Essex I think.

The New Zealand aircraft is a Simmonds Spartan and not quite the same as the Spartan Arrow.  The fin/rudder shape is different and it has ailerons on all 4 wings whereas the Spartan Arrow only has ailerons on the lower wings.  I expect you knew this already Rapide.

  2. model-plans.co.uk  can supply the plan.

The Spartan Arrow model was designed by John Watters and he drew the plan after measuring the full-size so you know that the model is an accurate copy.

The photo is of my free flight scale model which spans 45" and was reduced from the R/C plan.  The full-size is based at Redhill, Surrey.  If you need I have detail photos I can probably send them.

  3. Garden dahlias are propagated by dividing the tubers or taking cuttings from sprouts, and bedding dahlias grow readily from seeds. Nothing wrong with your gardening skill Early Bird just the wrong type of dahlia.

  4. BMFA Rewards scheme
I have used this scheme to make some good savings on my purchases but lately I have come unstuck. I used the Argos website to order a Shark vacuum cleaner and paid with a Giftcloud voucher. About 2 hours after I placed the order I realised that I had ordered the wrong model and cancelled the order. Giftcloud say that since I have redeemed the voucher I am not entitled to a refund but they have taken the money from my bank account and I have nothing to show for it. Apparently 'no refunds' is in their terms and conditions. With the benefit of hindsight what I should have done was let the order for the wrong vacuum cleaner go through then taken it to the Argos store and exchanged it for the correct model. Let this be a warning to other BMFA members, don't change your minds.

  5. I once found a set of false teeth! Also found a nearly new bike, handed it in to the police and it was not claimed. My daughter now uses it so litter picking does pay.

  6. I got eBay to call me back. They said just tell the seller to enter 'paid'. There was no explanation as to why they didn't send me the QR code. It is not very often that I bid on eBay auctions and it might be sometime before I do again!

Thanks everybody for your replies. Bryan

  7. Thanks. That seems fair enough. More searching of eBay and I have found this;-

"After you’ve completed your purchase, we’ll send an email with a collection code (a QR code and a 6 digit code) to your Messages. You can either print off your email or show the seller the message on the app when you collect your item. The seller will scan or enter the code on the eBay app to confirm you’ve collected your item."

The problem I have is that I cannot find a message from eBay with a QR code. I'll try contacting eBay.

  8. Thanks for the replies.I paid by PayPal using the 'pay now' button. I don't see the need for a QR code when I met the seller in person and collected the model. I've no idea how to get a QR code anyway. The seller saw me put the model in my car and we were both happy with the deal. I have no intention of telling eBay that I didn't receive the goods. I will contact eBay and ask them to explain the need for a QR code and is it a new requirement.

  9. I recently bought a model on eBay. Paid with PayPal and collected it in person. Now the seller is asking for the QR code so that they can close the sale down correctly. Has anyone else been asked for a QR code?
