  1. Folding wings were a feature of the John Watters R/C plan so the model for sale on eBay WAS built from the plan in my opinion.
  2. Rapide I looked for the eBay model but couldn't find it. I believe it has appeared on eBay before but got no takers. The seller is somewhere in Essex I think. The New Zealand aircraft is a Simmonds Spartan and not quite the same as the Spartan Arrow. The fin/rudder shape is different and it has ailerons on all 4 wings whereas the Spartan Arrow only has ailerons on the lower wings. I expect you knew this already Rapide.
  3. model-plans.co.uk can supply the plan. The Spartan Arrow model was designed by John Watters and he drew the plan after measuring the full-size so you know that the model is an accurate copy. The photo is of my free flight scale model which spans 45" and was reduced from the R/C plan. The full-size is based at Redhill, Surrey. If you need I have detail photos I can probably send them. 4. Robots are already delivering on a regular basis in Milton Keynes.
  5. If you go to one of the Modelair events at the Shuttleworth Collection, Old Warden you will see plenty of rubber powered models and can ask the owners all of your questions. MayFly 13th – 14th May 2023 Scale Weekend 22nd – 23rd July 2023 Festival of Flight 16th – 17th September
  6. The Plastruct is the solid triangular rod available in sizes from 0.75-3.2mm carefully applied at the correct spacing. It was stuck to Proskin, a glass fibre sheet sold by Mick Reeves.
  7. If you do the stiffeners have a look for Plastruct. It is mainly used by plastic modellers and comes in various sizes. This is what I used on my model.
  8. It is 1/12th scale so 48 inch and scratch built from a 3 view. The Beaver has stressed skin construction so my model has foam wings rather than ribs poking up from fabric covering. The cowl is my own fibreglass moulding.
  9. My free flight Beaver had scale position undercarriage and made 3 successive dead straight take offs at the BMFA Nats 2013. It came in 2nd place.
  10. There was a change of insurer. BMFA members have been insured all for of the Christmas/ New Year period.
  11. A friend had a similar plane a Dauntless I think and my experience was the same as Barryorbik. Heavy and underpowered,

  13. With ailerons you can use scale dihedral. Check out the 3 views and photos of the full size.
  14. Garden dahlias are propagated by dividing the tubers or taking cuttings from sprouts, and bedding dahlias grow readily from seeds. Nothing wrong with your gardening skill Early Bird just the wrong type of dahlia.
  15. BMFA Rewards scheme I have used this scheme to make some good savings on my purchases but lately I have come unstuck. I used the Argos website to order a Shark vacuum cleaner and paid with a Giftcloud voucher. About 2 hours after I placed the order I realised that I had ordered the wrong model and cancelled the order. Giftcloud say that since I have redeemed the voucher I am not entitled to a refund but they have taken the money from my bank account and I have nothing to show for it. Apparently 'no refunds' is in their terms and conditions. With the benefit of hindsight what I should have done was let the order for the wrong vacuum cleaner go through then taken it to the Argos store and exchanged it for the correct model. Let this be a warning to other BMFA members, don't change your minds.

    Litter

I once found a set of false teeth! Also found a nearly new bike, handed it in to the police and it was not claimed. My daughter now uses it so litter picking does pay. . .
  17. I got eBay to call me back. They said just tell the seller to enter 'paid'. There was no explanation as to why they didn't send me the QR code. It is not very often that I bid on eBay auctions and it might be sometime before I do again! Thanks everybody for your replies. Bryan
  18. Thanks. That seems fair enough. More searching of eBay and I have found this;- "After you’ve completed your purchase, we’ll send an email with a collection code (a QR code and a 6 digit code) to your Messages. You can either print off your email or show the seller the message on the app when you collect your item. The seller will scan or enter the code on the eBay app to confirm you’ve collected your item." The problem I have is that I cannot find a message from eBay with a QR code. I'll try contacting eBay.
  19. Thanks for the replies.I paid by PayPal using the 'pay now' button. I don't see the need for a QR code when I met the seller in person and collected the model. I've no idea how to get a QR code anyway. The seller saw me put the model in my car and we were both happy with the deal. I have no intention of telling eBay that I didn't receive the goods. I will contact eBay and ask them to explain the need for a QR code and is it a new requirement.
  20. I recently bought a model on eBay. Paid with PayPal and collected it in person. Now the seller is asking for the QR code so that they can close the sale down correctly. Has anyone else been asked for a QR code? Bryan
  21. You need the book Republic P-47 Thunderbolt - Alan W. Hall (Warpaint Special No. 1) £15 s/h on eBay. On page 79 there is even a razorback captured by the Germans complete with swastikas and crosses!
  22. Free flight scale modellers use silk from Harrington Fabric and Lace. Google the website. If you ask they will send a sample of silk number 4202 before you buy. Covering first with tissue or mylar avoids the use of too much dope.
  23. Milton Keynes Aviation Society have a lecture on this restoration. It is on September 10th 2019 More details here **LINK**
  24. Why not wrap the piano wire with gummed paper? Keep winding it on until you get the required diameter.
  25. Hi Pegasus I would be very interested in your photos as a friend, who is not a member of this forum, is researching the Stampe. If you send them to [email protected] I can then forward them onto him. Many thanks. Bryan Lea
