  1. Built a new Y-3 HK fibreglass Tricopter and its great fun but the battery life is irritating, 4-4.5 minutes at the most. Specs are Turnigy D3536/8 1000KV Brushless Outrunner Motor x3 Spec. Battery: 2~4 Cell /7.4~14.8V RPM: 1000kv   Max current: 30A No load current: 1.7A Max power: 430W Internal resistance: 0.052 ohm Weight: 102g (including connectors) Prop size: 10 x 4.5 Max thrust: 1160g ESC x3 Max Cont. Current: 30A Max Burst Current: 40A Max BEC Current: 2A BEC Voltage: 5.5v LiPo: 2~4S Weight: 23grams Max RPM (2-pole): 200,000rpm   Current batterys 3c 2200A 25c My question is can i use 4000mah 4c 25-50c batteries and would i always calculate x3 for the motors. IE: 4000mah@25c = 100A /3=33.3A which is close to the 30A burst rate of the motors or have i made a booboo?   Edited By Twister on 28/03/2013 00:34:11
  2. Its sorted, checked the board and it had tripped out of Tricopter mode again, not sure how as i know i checked it, so re programmed the FC with v1.5 just incase. also re-calibrated the ESC's. Interestingly i read somewhere you can port off F5 for Yaw as F4 can reverse settings hence -100. many many thanks guys.
  3. Thanks GuysTried re-calibrating and double checked Tricopter mode but still low on power on one motor,I will give v1.5 a do. thanks again. Matt, hows International Rescue? excellent vid, great guys, bet your chuffed. Edited By Twister on 23/03/2013 19:32:54
  4. Hi all. just bought a Y-3 fibreglass Tricopter by HK. kk2 as delivered,1000k Turnigy motors,30A ESCs all set up with motors turning in right direction. I first found it span around on take off but changed the Yaw to -100 and managed to get a foot or so. pleased with my result i decided to flash the KK2 with 1V4 and re flashed the ESCs now the motors turn the otherway and the left front seems low on power, even when lowering that corner it dosent increase in rpm. Have i got a faulty ESC or have i messed up somewhere. many thanks, top forum.
  5. Just ordered one to build and wondered if anyone has built one one here.
  6. Recently aquired one as most of the guys at the indoor club has them, great fun but stripped the bevel tail gear front and replaced it with metal, then the rear tail bearings went along with the small plastic bevel gear so replaced them along with the large rear gear, then 2 flights later small one has gone again. My question is has anyone tried the all metal rear gears? Richard
  7. Hi Ken I had the same issue and found the bearing had gone and was snagging on a magnet which was proud of the others.Century replaced no problem.
  8. Hi Chuck, i had a look for my old tail wheel which you could of had but cant place it. My motor seized and was replaced then the new one seized and i swapped it for a more powerful motor, check my old posts. I know what you mean with the weather, I just got one of these.http://www.brchobbies.co.uk/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=1_167&products_id=755 yet to be built but hopefully great inbetween showers or indoor.
  9. Sorry guys been away, John,if i remember it took a tug to break free but i tied a wire on first to pull back through, Chuck,it seems the wire hasnt been bent to the right offset to the rudder, also the rudder being out of line to the fuse is the same as my first one but my last one was fine, only option is to reglue the hinges in line.
  10. Im a bit of a novice myself and admired the Magnum also, but they are quick very quick,i've got a Jamara Roo push jet which would be a good stepping stone maybe.**LINK**
  11. Hi Chris i have both, the fms is 1400mm and the other is 1600mm just got them and havent flown yet but will be soon. The FMS hasnt got flaps fitted and if you put the planes together there is a far size difference,i think the hobby king and max-thrust are the same planes. There is a big power difference in running up.I had a FMS corsair 1400 and lookied and flew great but snapped in half on a slow loop and was no more afterwards, with the mustangs if you lift the planes via the wings the fms flexes more and the U/C looks like it needs rakeing forward. Time will tell.
  12. This could be my next purchase,it looks great from the vids i've seen......
  13. I trained myself on a radian pro as i figure it would be slow and once up high i could learn aileron control in relitive safety, then went to a century Riot for faster manouvers, this was opposite to how my neighbour went,he started with a Wot 4 foame and had to go back to a supercub as he found the Wot was a bit much,he's got it sussed now though.
