  1. Just inherited a nicely built old SE5A model which has spent some time in a loft. The Nylon covering is a bit dirty as you might expect, but it has also sagged quite a bit. Can I restore it to required tightness by cleaning then re-doping? or what's my best move please?
  2. Same experience with me. Sad as most of them are really good. it's a case of 'one bad apple'in my view. Hope they get it sorted. It's a really good shop otherwise... Come on boys..
  3. hear hear to that John. Very enjoyable. Keep it going!
  4.  Oi you might need this it's a bit quick. Want to borrow my bicycle clips as well just in case?!
  5. CONENECTION!? never made one of those before! must be computer error!
  6. Thanks for the responses. This is very helpful, and I'm sure will help a lot of others as well. One more quick question: Battery charging. Does one conenection to the charger charge both batteries at the same time, or do they have to be charged separately? and do they take twice as long (as one) to charge? Sorry, that's at least three questions!
  7. Thanks Aslan. Will get everything out on the bench over the weekend and let you know how I get on. Sounds a bit mind boggling, but as you say, once it's in front of me hopefully all will be clear.
  8. Can anybody please advise on how to wire in a dedicated battery back-up to support retract operation and not drain the main battery on board. I am using a Futaba 6 EXAP system with R137F receiver and since the model ( hangar9 spit) has flaps, all 7 ports on the receiver are taken up.
  9. Thanks for the advice Aslan and Al. I'll try both those suggestions. Still not that clear how your idea will work in my case Aslan, since I forgot to mention that all available connections are in use. Look forward to picking this up again with you in a new thread, and I'll try and be more specific about my problem.
  10. can anyone give me a bit of advice how to wire in a dedicated battery pack for the mechanical retracts on my Spit please? Trying to avoid draining on the main battery!
  11. I have finished and flown the De-Ag spitfire and will try and send some pics to the site. I have had the nose over problem and have now installed a retractable under-carriage which looks a lot better and is mounted a tiny bit further forward, well worth the effort. Aileron problem with the push rods noted but it seems ok and don't really want to add any more weight. Hope the pics come out.
  12. I have really enjoyed collecting the parts for, and building the de-ag spitfire. It's got me back into aero modelling again after a 30 year break. It's made very clear by De-ag that this is not for beginners and the best course of action is to join a club, and get insured Etc., This must be good for the hobby generally I think. I agree with Bill Hughes' comments and feel they have been quite responsible in their approach It got me out learning to fly RC again with an ARTF high wing trainer last summer, and progressing onto a low wing trainer while the parts for the spit arrived. After a slow but intersesting build The Spit took to the air about 6 weeks ago under the careful hands of my instuctor and it flies really well - a great feeling. Yes I know it's cost me more money and it took a long time to collect, but it's meant i've stuck with it rather than the whole thing being a five minuit wonder. I thought it was a very well put together and informative series, and the fact that you actually have to 'build' it rather than it being an ARTF has to be a good thing I feel. I hope others have enjoyed this collection as much as I have. And no I don't work for or have shares in De-Agostini!
