  1. Sounds good cheaper than playing lotto and i have probably got the same chance of winning, but you got to be in it to win it! sorry couldn't help it. But if i get a choice jig would be good for newbie with a wife kids goldfish and a dog. Cheers Ian
  2. Hi Steve, I don't think there is anything wrong with thinking and building big, the sense of achievement you get from your own build is the best. Ok you have a problem when it comes to flying but I'm sure a club could check your model out and might have someone qualified to fly, if they want to take the risk. I do think you should find a small hack to fly at least you gain the experience and maybe one day fly the models you build with the right training. good luck Ian
  3. Hi Glenn, Thanks for the info had a look have got some parts listed. Going to check what numbers i need might be able to fix whats there. thanks for the input thanks Ernie yes as you said most the damage around cockpit, will be looking to put some strength back when rebuilding looks like it had a heavy knock around cockpit and a few bits missing but the rest seems solid enough. Thanks
  4. Hi Myron, cheers for that! not a problem, i can copy damaged parts from other side just wanted to see how the front of the cockpit looked seems to be missing some pieces. I have found some pictures on the web so hope all will be well, thanks for bothering to give a response. Regards Ian
  5. Hi all, I 'am looking for anyone that might have a plan they would sell to me or even better give me a copy for a Flair piper cub kit. I have been given the model and it needs some attention, so if anyone can help. cheers all
  6. Hello to all, Well i would like to say my model is close to completion but things have not gone to plan. serious illness over the last few months caused a bit of a problem for me so unable to make any headway. Back to it now so hope to give you some progress reports soon, got a lot of catching up to do cheers Ian
  7. Hi all, Thanks Ian Jones as a newbie it did seem my original question was lost in translation, however i have had some useful information and considering i have to stick to a budget, selling and upgrade might not be the best way forward. I thought the optic 6 would be a good starter radio and i could build from that. Remember we all have to start somewhere and when your new to the hobby then you can easily drown in a glut of info, there are many of you that are seasoned model builders/flyers so please spare a thought for the guys who like me are just getting started. Thanks everyone for the help cheers Ian
  8. Hi Simon, Thanks for the help ,yes the transmitter is the grey optic 6 so looks like there will be no problems with a conversion. I bought this as a starter radio but think i will upgrade at some point in the future and pass this on to my son. I will look at the Hitec module thanks again for the information always grateful for the help. Cheers Ian Edited By Ian Davis 2 on 22/11/2012 18:27:08
  9. Hi everyone, Can anyone tell me if my Hitec Optic 6 Transmitter can be converted from 35Mhz to 2.4ghz i have been told it can be done but not sure. if it's only an addition of a module that makes it possible, maybe someone in the know can tell me grateful for any help. many thanks
  10. Simon Thanks for the input what your saying seems logical, i was looking at a Y lead to connect the servos to the receiver, I thought servo's mounted closer to the wing control surface was a better way to go. The wing currently has long rods and I'm also having to deal with flapperons which i thought i would leave on a central servo and rod set up. I always try to see what other builders are doing, but we all have our own ways of doing thing's I'm quite happy to learn from someone else every now and then, input always welcome Cheers Ian   Edited By Ian Davis 2 on 08/11/2012 20:01:52
  11. Hi everyone, The fairchild PT26 rebuild continues the wing starting to look the part (pictures to follow) just wanted someone's opinion about servo mounting on wing instead of a central servo with linked rods and bell cranks, not sure what would be best, got room to put servo on each side of the wing and wonder about how to link to the receiver not done this before are there any pit falls with this set up. I would appreciate any input or ideas. cheers Ian

  13. hi just keep you up to date not a lot of progress still spent most of the time on the wings, more like a demolition! than a rebuild but have started to repair wing, stripped outer covering off. thought of patching but decided to lighten and also gave me better access to rods bit rough looking at the mo but started to rebuild missing wing tip used template from other side will layer and shape so hope it will look as good as other side. Ailerons need some work not fitted in a working position but think will be able to sort with out to much trouble. thanks for looking, i know there are some more interesting builds going on, but as a newbie hope to improve blog as i go on. always welcome input and open to idea's   cheers Ian Edited By Ian Davis 2 on 27/10/2012 10:43:46
