  1. I bought a copy of RCM&E today and have read the Hawk article. I presume the retract version could be bungee launched as well?
  2. Many thanks for all of your replies. I just need to order the paints, now! Not sure if I'll need some clear base coat. What are your thoughts on brush cleaner? Lots recommend nail-varnish remover which I imagine is much cheaper than the special stuff sold by airbrush suppliers. Two airbrushes came with the compressor. I'm not sure which one to use: the gravity brush's nozzle is 0.35mm and the syphon's 0.3mm. For greater coverage, I imagine the gravity will be best...
  3. If TN could design a Folland Gnat in Red Arrows' livery it would, along with his Hawk, make a nice set.
  4. Thanks for your replies. The Vallejo paints are 'airbrush-ready' and require no thinning. Has anyone of you used them and, if you have, what's the coverage like?
  5. I noticed yesterday that there's a 'workshop special' (correct title?) magazine on sale. I had a flick through it and the articles seemed familiar - one was by the late David Boddington. Would I be correct in thinking, therefore, that the articles have appeared in previous issues of RCM&E?
  6. I am keen to try airbrushing and would like to try it out on a foam model, but am not sure which volume of airbrush paint to buy. Vallejo paint has been recommended and it is available in two amounts: 60 and 200ml. I would be grateful if someone could give me an idea of the coverage of 60 and 200ml bottles. Thanks.
  7. I've not flown a EDF myself, although, funnily enough, I've got a foam BAe Hawk that will hopefully take to the air soon. I've not read any reports that they are particularly different or difficult to fly, but I'm sure many on the forum will be able to provide information re this. As for launching, this is often done by hand or with a bungee. Click on the link below for some videos of bungee launches. **LINK**
  8. I saw a copy of RCM&E today and it was stated therein that the plan should be included in either the August or September issue. I have marked my calendar accordingly. Earlier in the thread, someone encouraged TN to design a Folland Gnat. I've long wanted to build one of those - a great-looking aircraft. If TN could turn his talent to designing one, I would be a very happy man. Edited By Tripwire on 21/06/2015 16:16:52
  9. I've seen another photo of this charger and it looks like there are more ports on its other side. Thinking about it, £200 will, of course, probably be the RRP.
  10. Mmm. Sounds interesting. Not sure I'd want to spend £200, though. I'll have to have a look at the review. I presume you mean this unit: From the photo, it looks as though it can only charge 2 batteries at a time, unless there are 2 positive and 2 negative ports on the other side of the unit. I'm now also looking into parallel charging boards and parallel balancing leads... Edited By Tripwire on 22/06/2013 17:19:32 Edited By Tripwire on 22/06/2013 17:25:27
  11. Crispin, is your B6 charger the one made by SkyRC, i.e. the IMAX Quattro? If it is, where did you buy it from?
  12. Thanks for your replies. I'm glad, Ian, that I'm not the only one pondering this subject - your 'bump' was a good idea. I'm still not sure which direction to go in. I read an earlier thread in which Tim Mackey recommended using a 'parallel charge board', but one of these would require a charger with a considerable output in watts (most seem to have around 50W max output, including my current one). Also, with a parallel charge board, you cannot balance charge. I like the look of the Ansmann charger. It's a shame that its price has increased from £69 to £89 since last Christmas. Regarding battery size, the largest size I use is 3S 2.2A which charges at 2C. I don't expect to ever use batteries larger than this, but who knows? My current power supply (Pro-Peak) has a 0-20A power rating; so, I think it will be sufficient for most chargers. I'll still be interested to see if anybody posts regarding quattro-type chargers because, for the size of batteries I use, there is great potiential for reduced charging time. I'd just like to know which quattro charger perfoms the best and where it can be bought from. As I've already mentioned, there are a lot of clones about and, from what I've read, their perfomance could be described as dubious. 13. I recently bought 2 LiFe batteries for my transmitters and now need a compatible charger. I'm interested in the chargers that can charge 4 batteries at a time (such as the SkyRC Quattro B6), but I've read that there are a lot of clones being sold that are not up to the job and, to work properly, have to be recalibrated. BRC Hobbies/Robotbirds sell what appears to be a SkyRC Quattro B6. I've contacted them to ask if they are selling the genuine article, but have not yet had a reply (I've contacted BRC 3 times, first at least 10 days ago). Has anyone got any experience of using a Quattro-type charger? Any recommendations for chargers and suppliers would be appreciated. Many thanks.
  14. Thanks for your reply. The Skysport has a round socket, just like the FF6.
  15. Would I be right in thinking that the FF6 can be linked by a trainer lead to a Skysport T6YG or FF9 for buddy boxing? I've tried in vain to find an answer to this on the internet - even the Futaba site. Thanks.
