  1. Thanks for the suggestions! I had a look at the Quantum 2814/09 that is suggested by some distributers. This motor seems to be priced around £35 if you include the postage. I was considering the Turnigy D3542/6 1000kv as this appears to be a good motor at a much better price. I think it was around $20 at HK which when converted to pounds is quite cheap! I was really keen to see what others had used with this model and what success they had. Is there much difference between the Quantum 2814/09 and the Turnigy D3542/6 1000Kv apart from price? Also if I decided on the Turnigy which would be the better option 1000kv or 1250kv? thanks
  2. Hi all, I've just bought my first electric trainer a Black Horse Liberty (not 182). Can anyone suggest an alternative to the (expensive) AXI motor. My preference would be for a Turnigy and I've seen articles suggesting a 3542 motor but open to any ideas or proven combinations. thanks Robert
  3. Hi there! I managed to pick up a Parkzone Ember recently that was sold as needing a repair! It was very reasonable so I took a chance on it! All appears to be well except for the reciever module. It powers up and binds to the supplied transmitter but only the motor seems to work. It looks like the reciever board might have got hot at some stage as there are signs that the plastic frame has melted. Can anyone advise a good source for a cheap replacement? I think the part number is PKZ3051, is the reciever inter changeable with the ember 2 board? thanks
  4. Thanks Andy! I've spliced an extra length to the lower longeron and have now managed to form a nice curve at the front end! Thanks for your help. When you have time it would be good to see some pictures of the finished model!
  5. Hi Andy, Thanks for the assistance! you have clarified a number of issues I had. I have build a few models over the years but I think in the main they all had a blow by blow instruction guide, where as this time all I have is a box of balsa and 2 plans! I will follow your guidance to the letter!! Might I ask one other question while I'm here? As mentioned before I have so far laid out one side and have glued the vertical struts and the diagonals to the rear. Just putting together the front end around the front formers. The 1/4 square piece of balsa that runs along the bottom of the fuse doesn't seem long enough to reach the full length. Can you confirm that it runs from the tail end up to F2? with a new short length running under the engine bay? The plan isn't clear at what postition the join is? Not sure if my explaanantion is clear but hopefully you will get the gist? Also is there a trick to bending up that length of balsa at the front end or is it just pinned and glued under tension? Sorry if these questions are rudimentry! Just don't want to make any mistakes! thanks in advance!
  6. Hi there! I too have just started to build one of these wonderful models. I'm a little rusty, and need a little advise. The plan only shows one side of the fuselage. How do I build the other side? I've pinned and glued one side over the plan and some of the parts fit flat on the board. Clearly the two sides are not identical. thanks
