  1. Hi Paul, I've been abusing my arising star for almost a year now. I've fitted a thicker steering rod as the supplied one kept bending during taxi, resulting in the model nosing over and killing the engine. Very annoying. It might also be worth getting hold of a spare noseleg and steering arm as mine have had it following a few bumpy landings. I'm sure the engine you have will be fine. Mine has an old, plain bearing Enya 40 and it does the job. re the Tx, I'm pleased i spent £35 on a second hand FF6 for the buddy lead capability. Definately worth considering as my instructors saved my model (and my bank account) several times Lastly, I keep a roll of 2" sellotape in the car for patching up any holes that appear in the covering. Mark
  2. I'm new to this flying lark having only started last Autumn so i'm certainly no expert. What I have found with an SC46 fitted into a Calmato is that the engine does cut out after a few minutes unless I set it up rich on the ground. This was after checking the clunk, getting the engine as low as possible etc. Mark
  3. My Kyosho Calmato flies well with a 46. So far it's holding up well to less than perfect landings, inc one in a hedge. Really good kit and a doddle to put together.
  4. Wonder how long it would take before one got shot down?
  5. They're not new, they've recently moved premises. I think they used to be in the Chandlers Ford area. Always been helpful on the odd occasion I've been in.
  6. Graham, good thinking. We've got some reprographics guys at work. I'll see what they've got.
  7. Thanks folks, I'll see if I can get some offcuts of film. I'd heard that solarfilm etc doesn't stick to artf covering but it's worth a go. If all else fails, sellotape will do. Mark.
  8. After a month or two away from flying, mostly cos it's flipping cold, I ventured out this morning. Due to wind direction I had to make my landing approach from an unusual direction. During the final approach I misjudged the distance to the model and flew into the tops of some trees. The model, a kyosho calmato has suffered only covering damage to an upper and lower wing. Can anyone advise a decent way to repair the covering or is it likely to be a Sellotape job, as per my arising star? Mark
  9. I recently asked the same question. Do a search for '2nd model choices'. I went with the kyosho calmato alpha in the end and I'm glad I did. It's lovely to fly and easy to land. I passed my A with it.
  10. I don't know exactly what make of model but I do know it was either a large Sukhoi or Yak aerobatic ARTF job. The switch showed no obvious signs of physical damage.
  11. I don't know what type of switch it was I'm afraid.
  12. Fraid not, I had to get home as the dog had been locked in for too long already. Loving the Calmato compared to the arising star.
  13. I saw an expensine model belonging to one of the club instructors pile in at full throttle today, destroying the model. Testing the electrics after retrieving the pieces showed that the switch had failed in flight. Something to be aware of folks.
