  3. Hi Shaunie Thanks for that breakdown of everything. It all makes sense now. The last thing I wanted to do was wreck my engine through lack of knowledge. Thanks Scott
  4. Past my SAA gold with blackhorse extra 300. My Bronze with a Kyosho Trainer with a 46 up front. I still fly the kyosho today
  5. Simon the B6 charger is really good and at ?20ish is you're best bet for the moment. Its rugged and reliable. Just what you need. The parkzone ones are more to allow the rtf label rather than long term use. Scott
  6. Ben do you have some photos of the fuselage and wings? Thanks Scott
  7. Posted by cymaz on 24/02/2015 22:43:24: That tubing on the photo ....looks like silicone tube to me. If not sorry. But for petrol then get Tygon tubing. Cymaz sometimes i wonder what i'd do without you, just had a little read and yip i'll be ordering Tygon tonight, Thanks Scott
  8. Ok so far progress has been slow though i've been busy and also writing a checklist for the cub and a refurb budget! I've taken the engine off and cleaned the carb, new plugs and fuel lines (fuel lines where hard, cracking and yellow). The rubber bands around the tank have become a permanent fixture too. I'm also looking at a simple smoke system consisting of 500ml diesel/oil tank , inline pump, one way valve and inlet into one of the exhausts. I've so far rebuilt the servo tray that houses the elevator and rudder servos, This is also where my receiver sits and Dualsky vr mini voltage regulator. Im planning on making simple but hopefully effective exhaust deflectors so i get less grime on the sides of the aircraft after flight. These i'm planning on using aluminium sheet welded to both exhausts. I have a big question though and my first mistake. Whilst i was removing the ht leads i didnt mark what way round they go, its a twin boxer style engine so they fire at the same time. Not sure if i can cause major damage getting them round the wrong way? Anyway's the rebuild will pick up pace soon with many more in-depth photos to follow, starting lightly. Ps Paul that flat four is lovely Scott
  9. Hi Simon sometimes the parkzone plug in chargers can be temperamental. I used one whilst on holiday years ago with my radian and it started charging one lipo and not the other. I have a brand new eflite/parkzone plug in car charger if you want it for free to try. There are also a lot of very good digital chargers out there just now that would allow you to monitor you're lipos condition. A worthwhile investment for if you're planning on flying higher ect I also make note in a lipo diary of how many flights they've had, a tad ott though I like to keep on top of there condition and airworthiness. Best of luck and if you want to try this charger pm me and I'll send it off Scott
  10. Posted by Allan Bennett on 23/02/2015 07:48:41: Personally I'd be interested to know what "incident today" has prompted you to post this. Unfortunately, there are already laws in place to stop people flying irresponsibly, but nobody seems to be able to enforce them -- apart from the one incident where someone posted a long video of one of their "illegal" flights, and was identified and fined. It'll be normal club members, who usually fly responsibly, who will suffer if laws are somehow tightened up, for they're generally the ones who abide by them. Yes indeed so would i, i apologize for my outburst. I believe a mixture of non sleep and recent buzzing at the strip caused my on forum venting. Sorry all, not like me Regards Scott
  11. Ok i'm scratching my head if this can be done or not. Currently my engine sits with the carburetor on the bottom with the prime bulb. Can have the engine round the other way with the carb on top or would it not run. Seems a silly question but my new exhaust would fit better into the cowling. Thanks Scott
  12. Hi Ian yes it looks similar to the Model Tech kit though it has Balsa USA wrote inside the fuselage to the rear. I'm getting the impression as i go along that it maybe two kits as I can't find photos of either kits that are the same. I am however missing a cub hub cap and have located 2 from a Balsa USA kit in America. I'll post a few more photos later since I'd like to get to the bottom of the kit mystery
  13. Thanks Tony and Cymaz i'll do both, I do have a feeling theres more hidden issues hence the reason i'm still up at 6:10 am going over everything and chipping away at old epoxy or whatever it is!. I shall post more photos later of what i found behind the Union Jack Flag!!!!! Scott ps off to sleep theres only so many hours i can concentrate
  14. A short silent video of what i was allowed to do after my BNUC-S. Dont waste you're time smashing a nice multicopter . Get the certificate and learn to fly properly. All my videos where before the days of even the most simplest gimbles. I flew completely off a steady finger. Have a look at the Five Sisters zoo website and there videos of flying close to a bear! No gimbles but i can assure you Caa approval, BNUC-S and hefty insurance, So to all you wannabee (drone) pilots think twice before showing off!. I personally don't fly multicopter anymore or run my aerial photography business anymore and am getting sick and tired of fpv/drone pilots thinking there topgun! Buzzing my rc flights and real flights. These multicopters give the pilot a feel of confidence when it is the technology flying. After incident today, enough's enough . I hope the CAA crack down on multicopters and fpv. I was one of a few at the start of this but i could see this coming from china! Quit Buzzing real aircraft and rc and maybe we will get along, and stop bending aviation laws. They are there for a reason, enough said **LINK**
  15. If anyone near Edinburgh would like access to a Chipmunk originally used by the Air Cadets i'd be happy allow anyone from the forum to take photos ect at Kirknewton Hangar where a friend and i keep a toy, I can also provide any cockpit photos too , any alternatives you require please ask and i'll get them with discretion.   Regards Scott Edited By scott finnie on 23/02/2015 01:40:49
  16. I just put into google maps my route From Edinburgh to Lancaster and it's 166 miles. thats well over 300 miles round trip to my closest REAL model shop. I do take my paraglider for some (hopefully nice) flights around the lakes though i do not regret the trip as the drive is great and the service even better. I have even recieved Scottish discount hehe i wont say the amount but thanks guys for you're kind custom. Will always be back, sorry for standing on the old timer Scott
  17. http://youtu.be/FLEZrebssYo     A very short clip of running in the new engine at 1/2 throttle. Sorry about the non HD this has been corrected for future videos   Scott Edited By scott finnie on 23/02/2015 00:10:19

    starter

Posted by John Privett on 22/02/2015 23:42:48: Only on-board starter I've ever seen was on Ali's half-scale 210cc Piper Cub that he flew at Wings and Wheels in 2009. Follow this link to the point in the flight where he demonstrates the in-flight engine restart. I love it! Cheers John Scott
