  1. Laura Branigan - self control . rick james- give it to me baby. Dido some Spice Girls. And a few others
  2. Hi Baz it looks like the esc's included in the topgun dc3. I had one and it was great, 40amp though it never came with setup instructions. Hope this helps direct you towards finding them though Scott
  3. Thanks Caveman , will do , god knows what i've been googling instead with my beer goggles. It was close though Scott
  4. Hi all I got my hands on a free Ace rc BLC-40 speed controller and have decided to use it on my mini titan build. It came with lots of instruction in chinese and what looks like a nice well built heatsink and good soldering. It also came with someones hand writing saying setup for heli! Woohoo to good to be true , indeed it was. Ive tried it on a donor motor and it seems to have - Brake - on Quick throttle sensitivity- on Hard timing- on Flying mode- Helicopter with Governer instead of without! Pretty much a recipe for disaster. I'd like a soft start for my throttle and brake off but not sure what the beeps ect are since i can't find an english version of the instructions, Anybody have or used one before, I did find it strange my lhs giving esc's away for free haha Thanks Scott
  5. Doesn't surprise me, I like there aircraft but there tools and equipment have also failed me recently. I had there heavy duty starter that died on it's first use. A chicken finger stick that snapped whilst flicking a prop and a hand held pump that was already seized. All these where brand knew though lucky neither could have caused a meltdown, yes certainly get in touch with HH Good Luck
  6. Thank SC. Just ordered a Go Discover! Couldn't help it. Looks like an interesting aircraft for a bit of slope filming
  7. Hi James if you message me where you are in the UK I can get a rough idea. If I where you I'd still look into Paul's two options since there both good aircraft for the money. Just remember you can't easily obtain spares for these or the duet as there's not much a marks for them. Another aircraft to possibly save for is a hobbyzone Champ rtf which is ?59.99. You can buy replacement wings and tails for them. Like others have said ?30 is a very tight budget. Most of my aircraft's internal electrics cost over ?150 that's without the aircraft, engine, transmitter, fuel, tools ect so to try buy a rtf aircraft for this size of budget is difficult
  8. Hi James both of the models Paul has posted about fly outside. Flying time varies with how you fly them but I'd say both would be around ten minutes. Possibly a few more. It doesn't sound long but after standing concentrating its long enough. The Duet has been flown twice last was over 3 weeks ago and its back to sitting in its original packing and won't be flying again. If you look on Gumtree Edinburgh in the for sale . others and hobbies section you'll see the advert. The best recommendation for the Duet would be more batteries as the batteries these aircraft tend to use half a 50-100 flight or less lifespan depending on the flight conditions and how they've been kept.
  9. Looks like a right armchair flier. Just floats around. Lovely
  10. Looks like a right armchair flier. Just floats around. Lovely
  11. Paul its like a mini apprentice and mini Escale phoenix. They look ok
  12. Sadly with the modelling world there's very little warranties out there on aircraft due to the nature of our hobby ie beginners crashing and incorrectly plugging batteries in ect. Maybe find a local club you can go and discuss with them the best options. This is a Hobby that if careful its shouldn't cost too much though from time to time mishaps will happen.
  13. Sadly there's nothing in you're price range that could be considered for long term or modifications since everything is extremely cheap and most have ir (infrared) transmitter which makes it possible for indoor flying only. That's if it has the power to fly indoors. Yes the cub is an ideal aircraft in much pricier form. The two channel aircraft normally will fly (if it flies) for 4-8 minutes and are aimed at indoor flying only with a 25ft range. Maybe save and get a rtf hobbyzone super cub which are fantastic to learn with
  14. When we bought a few to fly between our other trainer (brushless) charge times it was clear from the box that it was very toyish and light. Its most suited indoors or out in no wind. You'd be lucky if it reached 10mph. Our average trainer flying at 30-45mph and 8 times the size. The duet is much more something to toy around wit . Sadly will never be a major stepping stone for Rc flying but for you're budget that's the best as the two channel cub has even less control. My regular weekly flyers are a 70cc cub and raptor 90 helicopter. Our beginner's even found it will fly without touching the sticks so sadly not an airplane for much progression
  15. Hi James I have a Horizon Hobby Duet rtf for ?20 its two months old and in original packaging. I have it on Gumtree Edinburgh. I can send at additional cost or can be picked up. Its a very simple 3 channel with elevator, throttle and yaw(turn) through the twin motors alternating speeds. It has a 1 cell lipo that charges on the transmitter. Its as basic and slow as you will get. It was bought for a beginner but was to slow and small for the specific requirements. I can't think of many other aircraft but will have a look Scott
  16. In you're post you had mentioned repaired? Was it badly damaged and had you checked the power system for damage? Sometimes one of the most overlooked parts of a crash puzzle you can sometimes have the assumption that because the motor spins up straight ect that its ok
  17. I'm guessing that on one of your previous flights the prop may have been damaged also some of these plastic props have weaknesses direct from the factory so its a matter of time before they go. I use aeronaut propellers on gliders or anything that folds Good luck
  18. 1. Stress ball 2. McEwan's Special Ale 3. No.5 scalpel 4. Fine wet sandpaper 5. Araldite 90secs 6. James Horner's music on loop for inspiration
  19. Yes Steve indeed the tail dragger was , i was thinking for myself to fly, all my aircraft are tail draggers and i fancy something different again. Tbh i wish i learnt to fly on my 1/3 cub as its the simplest most relaxed aircraft i've ever flown, no nasty surprises and the smoothest engine till my prop failure . Though glided in for a perfect un-hurried landing
  20. That seems to be the issue up here Chris is a lack of good model shops, We have well 2 one which sells mostly doll's houses now and one which is kites and multicopters, everyone who wants to learn has to go online and with clubs pushing them away are buying aircraft that are simply not the way forward. There's a buzzing community spirit in England but quiet and distant in Scotland. The budding model shops are now toy shops and unwilling to help with the slightest request unless its DJI . I traveled from Edinburgh to Lancaster to buy £60 worth of rc equipment that i wanted to see before i bought. My lhs wasn't willing to source a prop for me and says it was impossible. Only for me to bump into a sales rep in England who said that he supplies to my lhs. I used to be able to pick up model fuel and compare hinges id taken off my aircraft with new ones at my local but not now. Yes the clubs in England may have a lot of trainers but you'd be lucky to point out one between the quads in scotland
  21. Hi Steve they look great, any tri undercarriage? Are they 40 size? Thanks
  22. Cymaz , the Arising Star certainly can be fun, takes you from complete sloppy novice to pretty impressive maneuvers quickly
  23. The only crash i ever had through buddy box was a stray sheep on a dead stick landing, other than that it was a few bumpy landings, i also learned a heap of knowledge from the past members of crosswinds ect and also safety. Safety is a very big part of my flying having learn't a lot from starting a aerial photography business before the drone boom with a state of the art Droidworx quad and loosing out when everyone laughed at the toy with a camera on the bottom, now away from that and working with a local model shop, i was too aware of these self flying gizmos causing huge safety concerns int the near future which is now. Ian the Wot 4 is a masterpiece , is it the wood or foam version? both are excellent for every form of flying. Bill, I wish i had a simulator reset ect and panic button but a voice from an experienced flyer told me how to correct my wrong doings and fly happily out of my issues. A sim doesn't make you're fingers go cold and eyes water with the wind. Also you'll never get that true feeling of what's going on around you , cars in the distance , birds tweeting, all the little things that can distract you Scott
  24. Ok so i'd like to start a little topic/debate... When i started flying which wasn't that long ago well 21 years ago i was handed a bright fluorescent pink kyosho trainer 40 with a 25 onboard!!! And a Futaba skysport 6A . I was on buddy box and learning to fly the real way with someone standing close (wind brake) and telling me the small inputs to make to correct minor issues developing, i loved going to my flying lessons as a young child in charge of a 1.8m span ic aircraft. Yet was not allowed to man handle my ic engine till i was 14 at the time and trust me the 7 years up till that point i'd learn't a lot.   Now many aircraft on. Some of which i still own! I'm seeing this horrible trainer scheme come out of a simple "Hit the Button" and recover !!??? How will anyone learn what they've done wrong with a button.... Nothing! they will learn. They will simply have false hope that they can fly, perform loops, rolls whatever then bang when they buy there next aircraft and it thumps into the ground because they had never learn't to fly properly and can't recover from even a mild bit of discomfort without a simple push button recovery. Now yes this is great news for a beginner but it takes the skill out of flying and building an aircraft you have respect for. Most of my aircraft it is't the case of i'll order a new epo part for £5.99 , its the case of sadness and a few months in the workshop.   So are there any real trainers left out there? What are the real options of getting airborne with something that teaches you the real basics rather than bank angle control nonsense? What aircraft are out there now artf, rtf, pnp, bnf ect that are suitable for a novice hopefully encouraged to learn to fly through a club. I don't discourage learning yourself to fly by any means though i do warn it's Horizon Hobby Duet territory and a field without houses , people and trees! Our local Model shops could come in on this to as well as clubs to offer free membership to rtf buyers. Its much less a loss of £20 a year membership with some hope and encouragement  to a house window , car or person being injured.   RC has come on so far in the last year it's pretty scary, before you know it there could be rich kids out there with gps stabilised turbine heli's buzzing the fields. People need to learn the correct way, but to learn... we need a better list of the better aircraft out there to learn on. Yes foam is great but with self righting and panic button,,, is this the way forward?     Scott       Edited By scott finnie on 03/02/2015 19:31:50 Edited By scott finnie on 03/02/2015 19:33:38
