  1. 18 May 2014 Please note that members will also be flying. Free tea and coffee available all day. Toilet facilities. Barbecue lit but please bring your own food to cook. Could people state if they are coming to have some idea on numbers please?                                                       DIRECTIONS Leave Retford on the Leverton road. Continue on for 5 miles. In leverton village carry straight on passing the post office and Royal Oak PH Drive through the village until the road narrows over a small bridge and then becomes a single track lane. After 1/2 a mile our flying site is on the right Hope this helps Steve Edited By Steve Dunning on 03/05/2014 10:49:42 Edited By Steve Dunning on 03/05/2014 10:50:01 Edited By Steve Dunning on 03/05/2014 10:50:18 Edited By Steve Dunning on 03/05/2014 10:51:07
  2. Please see separate new page Steve
  3. May I give a big thank you to Paul Bardoe and the flying club at Sleap Airfield for allowing us to hold our Fly-In today. No politics, no arguments, mutual respect and a everyone enjoying a very good day out with many classic models flown by around 15 pilots. Roll on Retford on the 18 May! Steve
  4. Hi all. Spoken to Paul Bardoe this morning, advising him as to the number of fliers registered. With this in mind he is approaching the club as to providing the barbecue with the usual fare at reasonable prices. See you all Sunday Steve D
  5. One further thing, as this is a 'live' airfield, visitors will be 'ferried' to the flying site in convoy. Visitors are asked to assemble at the entrance at 9 and 10am. Paul (or a n other ) will form a convoy and lead pilots across the airfield. thanks in advance for your help in this matter. Steve
  6. 'A' Certs and proof of insurance for those flying please. Toilets and food available in the control tower. Cars only on the flight-line for un-loading and loading at the end of flying. A donation of £1 per pilot towards club funds would be gratefully received. Within this post could I have an indication of those pilots attending the event next weekend. Names I have so far include: Steve Dunning Martyn Kinder Paul Bardoe Sam Wragg Robert Thompson Graham & Martin Fox Minty Morton Tim Hooper Bill Michie (10 so far) Could any others please post in this thread. If there is enough interest, Paul says the Barbie could be fired up. See you Sunday, Steve
  7. I think the price was around £320 so asking 2/3 more than that is taking the Michael. Someone in the States might pay it as the number of classic kits that are sold at silly prices is un-believable!
  8. Hi Tim Glad to hear that you are coming along to Sleap, the more the merrier! PB asked a similar question the other night. Sleap will follow a 'Fly-In' format but I would like to have a discussion amongst pilots as to what to do for the other events planned. The Retro Nats has been cancelled at Barkston, but there, I had thought of a 'sandwich' event, comp flights, off the peg, comp flights etc, so as to involve everyone that has an interest in this area of modelling. Hope that helps See you at Sleap Steve
  9. Hi everyone. The news is true, for the foreseeable future, casual licences for Barkston have been cancelled, apart from the free flight and R/C Nats which are over Bank Holiday weekends. The Grantham club have also lost it for the time being. This does mean that the Retro Nats in September is also OFF. The best we can do is to embrace the club site events that have been booked. If anyone could ask their club if their site (if suitable for F3A flying) in a central area of England for that date (Sat 7th June) then perhaps we could have an alternative get together. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Steve
  10. Hi Terry. The angled wire elevator joiner will not work due to the geometry of the linkage. I would use a forked pushrod (as I have done on all my retro models). The two snake system is an option, as typified by the DEPS system described on the Central Hobbies. Giant Shark have dual elevator couplers but unsure of the how the widths would suit. Hope that helps. Steve
  11. Got my stickers too, nice job Martyn.
  12. Just like Martyn, I can't believe it's so long since I last posted on this thread. Got round to taking a couple of piccies of the final model. AUW is 8lb.
  13. Willyuk, I support what Paul has said. You will find members more than supportive. You will gain info on setting up your model and, what's more, the social side is great, people exchanging ideas, memories and even swopping items such as plans and parts. You will enjoy it and find it very rewarding. Steve D
  14. All Oracovered with the trim, including lettering being automotive vinyl, cut on my cutter. GRP cowl painted obviously. Steve
  15. Just happen to have the plan of the 25 size Supra Fly as a PDF. Just needs converting to cnc production. Mmmmm?
