Hi Martian, good to see you making progress.

Not to distract you, but I was reworking my battery tray in my Tigercat (not built by me) and noticed something moving about in front of the nose UC. On closer inspection i found a chunk of lead had become unglued. It couldn't really move about much although a bit surprised that a model with tricycle UC still needed lead up front.

Might be worth some provision of space should you need to add some with your model.

    All the best

Thanks Chris I have given it some thought if a problem I will open up the nose on top ,but I have been at pains to keeping the tail light and the lipos will be in the nose of the nacelles still not all plans work out .

  2. Hi and thanks to all who drop in to view progress.

More or less up to date , been reviving the art of paper mache and glue covered fingers and hands and probably other place, the fuselage is no all covered in brown paper and had a light sand down ready for primer. just finished covering elevators (rudder already done) hopefully fit tonight. there is precious little space in the fus but have managed to squeeze in servo mount and servos, carbon rod for elevator and push pull for rudder. Currently printing pilot ,instrument panel ready for fitting ,pilot seat to make along with armour plate behind pilot. waiting for cockpit green to arrive then I can fit out cockpit. Lots to do still but am picking up pace.

  3. Series of pics from my phone. Fin half covered in brown paper (pleased with that. Servo tray ready for servos I had to cut this out of fuselage no idea why I placed it where I did it may will be shortened, am going to place 2 battens to support tray lower down to clear wing. Still to work out wing retaining . Nose finished apart from fine tuning gear works ok still need to fit light spring to hold doors open when gear down. nose leg steering servo can be seen. Gun ports fitted inner ports made with paper straws.

  4. Hello I have been busy this year honest but not always on the Tigercat. I got sick and tired of the 2 wing halves so joined them together only to find I had screwed up on the one nacelle (it was to long by 30mm) what to do start again or ponder for a week ,pondering worked it required delicate surgery (no record of this) making a template to match the correct one turn it over and mark out the shape then very carefully slice into to top sheeting and into the formers removing what was needed and then bringing the two sides together to match other nacelle it took a while but I got there. This will not be the end of mistakes, more later. Anyway, wing has been moved to hanger 2 out of my sight and the fuselage moved in ,its not easy working on it with limited space. The plan called for bespoke noseleg gear but as this is a reduced scale that wouldnt be possible I sourced a noseleg for a flight line Tigercat as I have done for other bits as its the same scale. After careful measuring, I committed to to cutting open the lower nose section down to a hardwood string gradually removing bits until I could fit in nose leg , A ply plate was made to support the retract and nose leg. The nose leg on the Tigercat is canted forward I packed out the retract until I achieved the desired angle that still allowed the nose leg to retract in just below the fuselage skin. Anyway some pics to show the result.

I've not been following along too closely, I didn't realise that Richard would be offering motors too. I'll try to get back up to date! In the meantime my P51-D is progressing ok, only 4 years later than most!!

mine is still in its box untouched but I did look at it 🙂

  7. long time since any updates for all those under going treatment I sincerely hope it went well. Me I'm still being monitored PSA reading creeping up but nothing to be alarmed about. My younger brother has been diagnosed after taking my advise to get checked unfortunately has prostate cancer to big to remove prostate so is undergoing hormone treatment to reduce the cancer ( happily not suffering with side affects i.e breast development and a desire to wear a dress. Recent MRI showed the cancer to be confined to the prostate capsule and is about to start radiotherapy long road ahead of him but should have a good outcome.

So please get checked you never know because without the test my brother would be looking at a very bleak outcome.

Sorry to introduce a sober note here but it reminded me.   Two people I know well have been diagnosed with prostate cancer in the last 3 days.   We are all having annual PSA tests (despite the reluctance of some GPs to provide them), aren’t we?

Hi Bruce please see here I would appreciate updates here to remind us blokes to do just that and get the PSA tests PSA

  9. So it continues 🙂

Port wing almost sheeted nav light completed , landing light completed . Ae servo fitted and one flap servo fitted other flap servo will be fitted after wing joining (no far off) and trailing edge shrouds fitted. Inlet ports on wing completed , these were done by laser cutting several pieces of rectangular balsa then laminating and carving to shape plus filler . I meant to show my little homemade tool for creating a bed for trailing edge bed, this was made using 2 pieces of hardwood  in an l shape with coarse sandpaper .
