  1. Hi all, thanks for all the help and advice you all offered. I contacted Mike this morning and the ff6 rc is now oh it's way for repair. That component is a Schottky diode, it sometimes gets blow, if a flight simulator lead becomes faulty, i.e a short in the plug that goes in to the transmitter. It can also happen when modifying a transmitter and an error in the wiring takes place. The transmitter can be repaired, it's just a matter of replacing the diode. The P&P both ways costs almost double the cost of the repair, o it's well worth it in the long run. This site has been more than helpful, and I think it's safe to say I will be on here more for help and guidance etc. Cant wait to get the rc back and arrange a trip to Hamilton to meet with the pros. Thanks all Paul
  2. Hi John, thanks for the photo. I will give Mike a call tomoz to see if he knows what component should go there and if he can repair it. I'm good at soldering, but its well small and probably over fiddly for my fat fingers lol Yeah I think a trip there wouldn't be wasted. There are a couple of clubs closer, West Calder is closest but the chairman emailed to say there weren't any heli members/trainers and recommended somewhere out fife way. I've never flown rc heli's before, other than little battery models. Charge for 40 minutes get 5 minutes flying models. I bought the heli on eBay from a guy in Arbroath, won it for £132 plus fuel to collect so kinda won a watch. It's in full working order, well until I replaced the battery in the rc lol It's fitted with an MDS 38, seem pretty good, but hadn't been run for over 3 years prior to me collecting it. I prefer boats, well should say ships, but there aren't pre built huge ones available here and if I buy pre built from china etc it will be in pieces when it arrives here lol so don't fancy that. I've seen a few beauties on Mr Google, but haven't got the confidence to buy to have shipped here, also I don't have enough room nor water to use it. Anyways I will let you know how I get on tomoz. Once again, thanks for all your help and advice Regards Paul
  3. Hi Gary, thanks for your message. Do I have to be a member to come for the day? Where exactly are they located, I'm in Bathgate. Thanks Paul
  4. Hi John, when you have your rc open, are there any more of the same component you could take a clearer photo of? Thanks Paul
  5. Hello John, When are you passing Scotland lol. The clubs local to me don't have many heli members, or experienced heli trainers to teach 1st timers. Maybe they think m too old to learn new tricks lol Thanks Paul
  6. Hi John, Thanks for all your help. I'm new to all this rc stuff and wish I hadn't changed the bloomin battery pack now lLolita the thought of setting the rc up etc. I've not got a clue lol Thanks Paul
  7. Hi John, please don't say that lol. I only bought the heli and rc the other day. It needed a new battery pack so I replaced it and it worked perfect until I removed the pack and reinserted it It's shorted and blown the component. Is there another suitable rc to use with my heli? thanks
  8. Hi John, yes I used your picture as I'm on the iPad and it doesn't allow me to add a photo when posting on here. Sorry to have stolen your photo, made my life easier lolol have you any idea what the component is? And where I can get it fixed, oh I'm in sunny Scotland in Bathgate. Or maybe another rc controller that will fly my Kyosho Nexus 30 heli. Thanks
  9. Hi, I have just had a better look at the area where the component sits. The black battery wire has shorted on the jaggy piece of solder to the left of the component and the component has exploded/broken apart. The area around it is marked where its shorted out. The component has broken ip and showing the insides ie a small piece of wire/metal is visible. When I place a pincer blade between this and the jaggy solder the rc powers up and works as should do. When I remove the pincer the power goes off. Thanks
  10. Hello, thank you for all the responses There is nothing written next to the component and its the op that damaged so I can't see any writing on it. Its the same size/dimensions as some others on the board. The component is just the right of the red battery connector. Do you have any idea what the component is, and where I could have it repaired or replaced? Thanks
  11. Hello all, and A Happy New Year to all. I have a Futaba FF6, I recently replaced the battery pack. I fed the spare wire into the hole on the lhs, unfortunately and unable to find an explanation the small black component on the pcb has been damaged. Now the controller won't power up unless you put a bridge in place to link the main solder point to the damaged part. The component is sited at the left hand side near the top, near to the battery connector. Does anyone know what the component is and what it does?   The above link should show a photo of the pcb. The small black component is next to the battery connector. Thanks in advance.
