  1. ha ha guess it was a pretty stupid question
  2. Nice wheel wells Tony, i kinda cheated and cut some coffee mate pots that seem to fit the wheels. going to line them with the dimpled mettalic type seals frrom inside the coffee mate an see how it looks My air scoop is very stiff and only fits half way on does it just need a proper dose of sandpaper??
  3. Cheers John, much obliged... ha ha dont be sad Tony... the speed you build you'll prob have a B version done too well before i've finished this one what engine are you planning? i'd love an RCV 90cd or similar but will probablu use a 15 -20 cc petrol Edited By Steve B on 06/02/2013 23:38:58
  4. Some more pics... itching to get back into the garage now!! done the wing fairings and carved out the skin off of first wheel well.... appologies for home made building jig too
  5. yeah that makes sense... The guy in my local model shop is a club member so will prob have best idea of who is better qualified so he will be my first approach...when i finally get it finished that is
  6. Ouch thats got to hurt!!! bet the bandaging gets in the way of the gluing too Would like to do the 'b' conversion on mine... but the shipping is too dear on flea bay...is there any suppliers of the kit in UK??
  7. The last pic showing air tank isn't mine, dont want credit for someone else's work.. is a pic i was following for advice on switch installation and finished up in the thread...dont know how to remove it tho Doh !!
  8. Hi all and many thanks for all the advice re cyno.... i use aliphatic as much as i can now and only cyno when i have to,,, effects me pretty much straight away too... i've got a fan in garage to blow most away and work with the door open... hence why no winter building As for the flying, there is no way i would consider even trying to fly it...no matter how much i'm enjoying the build i dont really want it to be a re-build ha ha... read some right horror stories on p51 build threads of first flight crashes...dont want to join the list!! when its built i would like willing skilled volunteers to take her up...for the foreseeable gonna build a dc3 next ha ha i'll fly that one (joking to the fly bit) Thanks again all for the warm welcome and please contribute where you can to ' a beginners p51'
  9. i tried to do a 'mech' way on the doors too...made little ball jointsan push rods but it is really hard to get the geom right as you say, found that it opened the doors fine but when it came to closing the doors shut trapping the wheel 'out' partially retracted rectified it by using the wheel itself to open the doors and a plastic spreader fastened to the leg to stop them closing... then when the wheel retracts the spreader drops in with the leg and a simple peice of elastic glued to the door inside pulls the doors shut behind the wheel...as i said really simple but completely effectice....not stand up to close 'scale' visual inspection but works well. Time will tell how robust it is. i've made use of the space you describe by creating an extra servo tray to house the pull pull system...will just have to rig up the bell crank. next photo shows it: and some others i've found:
