  1. Hi and thanks for all in depth responses. Yes I use straightforward Park Fly type planes, typically using a Plush ESC (with integral BEC). In my stupidity I watched a YT review of FrSky V8R7-II 2.4G 8CH Receiver where the tuber said that that due to the voltage they could not be used in a 3 cell... Otherwise I would never have question it. Thanks again...
  2. Yes i do mean 2 cell Lipo. Maybe I'm misunderstanding the effect. I use 4 cell lipo.
  3. I'm moving from Spektrum to Taranis so just getting my head around various matters. I note that the X8R reciever that comes with the Radio has an operating Voltage of 4-10v - Does this mean it will only work with up to a two cell? Thanks
  4. Cell voltages are all as they should be. I was charging at 5a - I always do and for a limit of 110 minutes. These are replacements to old ones I had so just doing what I would normally. I'll run them now that they are all fully charged and balanced and see whether the next time they will charge on the balance option . Thanks for all your help.
  5. Denis - Its a 20a Power Supply Matty - Yeah I do have a limit for safety reasons. I t has been suggested that "Discharge some down to about 50% and charge again at .5 or 1 amp max. Problem is your charger balance circuit is not heavy enough to get these in balance. This is becoming "the new normal" due to shipping regulations requiring them to discharge much lower than in the past and causing an imbalance that many chargers cannot correct at high output charges." I'll give that a try....
  6. Denis, Its a Hobby King HK4B6. I use it all the time works fine on my old batteries. Alan, They are all balanced @ 4.21/2 - I always charge on the balance option rather than normal charge option. I have three charge options, normal, fast and balanced. I've done a normal charge and all worked fine. Really strange why it would'nt balance charge - I guess i'll need to keep an eye on them. Thanks Edited By David Jacobs on 30/03/2017 16:55:49
  7. Just received Turnigy 5000 4S from Hobbyking. As usual with a new battery I have Balance charged at 5a. However unusually I the charger has not reported Full (and stopped charging) after three full cycles now. I have four of these and all are doing the same. I also received some 2200 3S they charged fine. Do I continue balance charging or zap in a normal charge? I am well used of charging LI-PO's but never had this before. Any advice appreciated. Thanks
  8. Based on the advice from DAVID!!! I bought the Hobbyking 4010 820kv 'donkey' brand I bought this. It is NOT a direct replacement and CERTAINLY not the same, it's considerably larger, it can be made to fit though you will need to fly without the Cowl and redrill the holes making the holes extremely close to the edge.... Not sure how, if you made this replacement you did not notice this....
  9. I Bought one of these POWER-TECH 20AMP POWER SUPPLY  **LINK** about Eighteen months ago. In the past few weeks it smells like its burning but appears to be working still. Can anybody advise what I can do to remedy this as it cost around £40, also is it normal for these to go faulty after such a short time? Thanks David Edited By David Jacobs on 16/12/2014 16:08:37 Edited By David Jacobs on 16/12/2014 16:09:45
  10. Thats fantastic. I will give it a try. Thanks
  11. I have just built an Irvine Tutor using an equivalent .46 Electric motor. I tried it at the club and it was diving a little. Club members checked it and suggested using washers under the motor mounting bolts to counteract the dive. The problem is I cant recall if the washers should go on the lower two bolts or the upper ones. I appreciate the advice.
  12. Used the blu-tack option worked a treat. Thanks for all the feedback.
  13. I am using captive nuts and am trying to find a way of gluing them in without getting glue on the inner thread. Vaseline is too difficult to work with in the small area I am doing so any ideas appreciated. Thanks
