  1. Hi Mothy, thank you for the information. i have now got myself a .40 ripmax trainer which i am currently modifying and bringing 'up to dat' and running the way i want it to as i have bought it second hand and have some control issues. but should be sorted by the weekend. I am yet to but the nijhuis kit due to lack of funds but on the plus side this gives me time to fully underdstand how the model works and learn how to flyu it properly
  2. thank you BEB. tried it the photobucket but it didnt work.
  3. This is my connecting rod to the carb. I don't really understand when you say metal to metal. I'm assuming its the metal rod to metal arm? http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b127/mango_maty/null-4.jpg
  4. right guys, i have have had a good look over the model over the last couple of days and i did find a loose front wheel and a slightly loose engine so i tightened everything up. i also saw that a couple of the servos were slightly rusty (bought the plane second hand) so i took it out and tried to fly it again. it took off perfect with no twitching and flew lovely, i then did a circuit and came in for a touch and go landing. this is when the prblems started, the engine revver up for a few seconds and made it too quick for a landing so i pulled up again and went around for another circuit. as i turned in for a final aproach the plane went mad again and revved up and the wings dipped to a point where i just had to level it up before crashing. luckily i was in a farmers field with a crop so very light damage, but what i did find was that the grub scre that holds in the internals to the carb on the engine was missing letting them almost pull out like a kind of barrel. it may have been this causing the revving of the engine if i had only just noticed it?
  5. Ah it is an IC powerd model and i am now aware i have posted in the wrong section....can it be moved?
  6. thank you for the comments guys, i will look deeper into the problem today and see if i can find the source
  7. hi guys, i am having a few difficulties with my ripmax .40 trainer. i have all futaba radio gear and is 35mhz. i am getting a lot of interfierance whilst in flight i think as the motor is throttling very irratic whilst im not even touching the remote. i would like to change it to 2.4ghz stuff so as not to get any interfierance and crash.....again. i have heard of 'dogy crystals', im not sure what this means but could be a factor in my problem... i will put up some technical info of what gear im using in a bit as not got aircraft to hand, just some initial thoughts would be a good start..
  8. The engine looks fairly old in my opinion. Kc, I will try this tomorrow as batteries on charge. Should I wind in the leaning knob all the way in to start with, then wonderful it out gradually, or the other way round?
  9. Ok. I got the plane second hand last weekend and was debating over changing the glow plug as I don't know the history of it tbh. The needle is screwed all the way in and then back two full turns. Does this help. Not sure about the fuel as its what's left in the tank when I got it. The guy I got it from is a mad moddeler and had over 70 planes so I'm sure it's the right kind but not 100% sure.
  10. It runs on tick over all ok but when it goes from just above tick over to full power it stalls like pretty much instant...
  11. Hi guys, me again. I have a ripmax 40 with an irvine 40 now I can get it running and revving but after two minutes or so I still can take it to max power without it cutting out. Is this normal? Do I have to wait longer for it to warm up etc. or does it need tuning slightly? Thanks. Mat
  12. Ok guys I think It was user error as I connected the wrong leads together. Whoops. Thanks so much for the help and sorry Pete for the photos. Will read up of forum rules. Thanks again guys mat
  13. ok im using Futaba gear, rx and tx i have tried turning on the rx and tx in the order you suggest but its still not working. i made a mistake the top wing only has one servo in. whoops   its an ic engine, the switches im referring to is on the body of the plane i think its a safety switch and once the wing is on it wouldnt need to be detached to turn off the electrics. and the other switch is the on/off to the rx   Edited By Pete B - Moderator on 27/05/2013 19:42:45
