  1. Peter Thanks for your info but it is the much smaller type of iron I am looking for that usually has a couple of different heads
  2. IS anyone able to point me in the direction of a supplier of a Trim sealing iron in this country. There are many listed in the U S A but I cannot find one here. My Protech model has packed up on me at last and my standard size iron won't get into the nooks and crannies on my current project Thanks in anticipation
  3. Hi ! Having decided to buy my first petrol unit I realised how ignorant I am concerning the changes and precautions that have to be considered. I have been unable to trace any in depth information re filtering, fuel tubing, potential radio interference, etc. etc. Although some of these topics are fairly obvious (petrol fuel tank bungs and tygon tubing being marketed for instance) I wonder if any of the experts has published an article covering all the necessary steps to be taken when converting? What about an article in the magazine detailing the way to go about a change of "wet" motive power? I have several diesels that need an "outing " .The last time I ran a diesel it was an E D Bee in a Veron Bee-bug with metal stunt tank. Does this fuel also have a detrimental effect on various plastics ? Any info welcomed !! Edited By Ron Brooks on 06/06/2012 12:29:53
  4. Can anyone tell me when the Wot 4 first appeared in it's original form   Thanks in anticipation
  5. Many thanks for all the advice Taking account of all the comments I have tried cellulose thinners and found that it works The project is converting the Boomerang to a dolly-take off job. Bought the damaged airframe for £2.00 at a table top sale and having been caught out by the problems of split panels etc. held together by the covering on a Vemar Apache, some years ago I decided to strip it completely. Splits everywhere!!!!!   Anyway with the advice received acted on I can now get on with the project in earnest   Thanks once again to all   Ron
  6. Has anyone any tips for cleaning off the sticky mess left behind after taking off the self adhesive covering on an A R T F ( Boomerang) ?   Or is there already somwhere that this is covered on the site?   I do know how to spell residueEdited By Ron Brooks on 04/08/2011 15:10:15
  7. can anyone advise names of vendors of  components etc. to carry out conversion and also suggest the size range of glow engines that would be suitable   many thanks in advance
  8. Thanks Alec Opposite way to the set up I have chosen at the moment!! i noted the line up of the throttle linkage and although I can overcome that small problem i think it would be better to go back to the building board and reshape the front of the "posh"nose I have already made Have you flown it yet ? I still feel that the thrust line is going to be low but is that going to have any effect on the flight charecteristics I wonder Any aerodynamics specialists got an answer to that one?
  9. Hi Have bought and started to assemble Wot trainer. Have found just about all the faults detailed on the forum (joiner tube, captive nuts etc.) forewarned is to be forearmed so quickly corrected but what about the engine mount ---which way up ?. There is a 19mm difference in the thrust line depending  on how it is mounted with no clue in instructions or illustrations on the box.. My thoughts are that the lower position places the thrust line too low but the instruction comments about possibly cutting out recesses for needle valve and silencer suggest that this is the way to go! As I have "closed in " the nose with suitable air intake vents for cooling, at the moment I have the engine set at the higher position. before I go any furher with this front end modification has anyone out there any comment Cheers
  10. Timbo We have checked ----the deer are not deaf but fortunately they are dumb1
  11. Point taken re  noise we are fortunate in our field being well away from habitation and the aircraft do not seem to worry the deer that graze in the next field. What price Devon, glorious Devon ! Sad about all the lawn mowers and chain saws that blight sunday afternoons !
  12. Thanks Peter I shall now go and ferret through my engine collection and sort out something appropriate. As it happens I bought a n.i.b Super Tigre 34 at the same auction where I got the airframe.but I think I might lean towards a 4 stroke. Theres a an O.S 40, an Enya 41 and a Saito 45 all waiting for their first "outing". When the gear is installed I shall see which best suits balance with minimum added weight. Thanks again
  13. Sorry Timbo I do not have any electrical tendencies, purely I. C.
  14. Anyone out there flying an 80 inch span Playboy?  Bought an airframe at a local auction and am not sure of power required the airframe is really light weight and I am a bit concerned at the suggested '45 'recommended in the plans guide. I presume this is a four stroke but even so I am not looking for any height records I thought the aircraft would do nicely during the balmy evenings of the glorious summer we are going to have! It will probably have to be hand launched due to the state of our flying spot any suggestions welcomed Thanks in advance  Ron Brooks
  15. Hi again Timbo Have looked at link given and now have a headache !!!!!! But am better informed (do I mean confused?) As I reach 3score + 11 on Saturday I am wondering if I have time to get to the bottom of this subject however I am about to dig out one of the discarded computers lying around somewhere in my workshop as I am intrigued by the PSU conversion referred to in your very detailed and informative information Should have asked questions BEFORE purchasing blind Thanks again
