Many comments resonate here. Have simply been priced out of the hobby to a point that I rarely fly these days, and agree with comments regarding the Nats showline. Used to love it and flew there, and at the Engineering Exhibition, Olympia for a number of years. All manner of models, that more often than not, could be purchased on the trade line after salivating over a demo slot. All a bit cliquey and exclusive these days. Things change, I get it. But not always for the better...

Mmmm. No hangar...definitely thinking twice about going at all ! The atmosphere in the evening is what the Nats is all about...

Until I read a reasoned explanation as to why these two seasoned ACE's have not been re-elected, I'll continue to assume that it's simply the old boys network up to mischief. The whole episode stinks. Shameful behaviour.

I'm numb. I just happened upon this thread. It was quite a shock to find out Dereck had shuffled off this mortal coil some time ago. His column in RCMW was the first time any of my models appeared in print. Such a dry sense of humour, he will be sadly missed.
Now then, what's really bizarre is that approximately two hours before finding out about his untimely passing, I'd dug out the Amelia plan specifically - looking for something to scratch the build itch with. Spooky....
It's going to be a race to get it finished in time for the North Cotswold bash in August.
See you there!

Flew one this weekend. Very nice. A little underpowered with a .46, but a good .53 or FS should fit the bill admirably!Flies just like the old one, but a little lighter with the built up wing.Definitely got to have one of these to replace my 12 year old original....cheersJulian

Hi,sorry the info you needed wasn't there. Propeller size can be a very personal thing, especially with electric models where the performance can be tuned to whatever end, by varying prop and/or cells. A 3D guru would want a different type of performance than a pattern aerobatic flier.
The propeller used in the review was an APC 11x7e, whilst average current draw ranged between 30-35 amps, with the Hacker Ray 3S1P LiPo supplied.
Hope that helps

I've not experienced magnets coming adrift in any Axi stuff - I bet it was operator error as much as anything else way back when brushless was really new, and we were all experimenting.
That said, they've had plenty of time to get it right!

Mmm, Axi motors fall to bits? What a plonker. What did he do? - run a 2208/34 on a 40 amp controller hooked up to a 6s pack with a 16x8 prop?!!!!!!!!
I'm running a range of Axi's from 2204/54 and above. Some are getting on for 4-5 years old now, and look & run like new.
Unlike some of the other cheap garbage that's cluttering up my workshop...
I reckon anyone buying Axi, Hacker, Jeti, or latterly MVVS, won't go far wrong.

When will we see some 2.4Ghz without the ugly module.
Come on futaba, how about the new 12FG in a fully native mode - the pics on Futaba's website are very misleading - it's still got the module and aerial poking out the back, but is photographed very carefully so it looks otherwise...

Hi,
no, this is an all wood model, although I bet the wing is the same. I'll get some measurements...
thanks

Hi,
How about sub1500 grams, and less than 400 watts of power? Seems to be a common denominator these days.
I would recommend joining the BMFA if you haven't already. The insurance is a good bargaining chip for new sites - especially as it indemnifies the landowner.
cheers

Just checked out the spec of the radio - reckon you'll have to do some clever mixing with the free mixers to get around this...

A similar problem as removing aileron differential under crow braking with a slippery F3f glider.
It may be that you're at the limits of what the tranny can do. You're probably looking at FF9/JR PCM9/MX22 and above to deal with these sorts of issues.
Go fishing for some glider boys - bet Mr Ellison could help...

If you want vinyl decals to look like the airbrushed Jart logos on Andy's model just let me know - whatever size/colour you need.

Have you ever watched or flown a pure carbon look model?
Scary. Can't tell whether it's coming or going most of the time...needs colour
