  1. Hello I'm an experienced modeller but on to my first foam model. It is a Durafly EPO vampire. What's the best glue for assembling EPO foam based models? Cheers Mike
  2. Hello looking at http://www.easycomposites.co.uk/#!/cured-carbon-fibre-products Which type of carbon fibre tube would be the most suitable for a CS panel spar on a model like the Circle Dancer 3000. Don't have theoriginal smashed version. Pultruded, woven or roll wrapped carbon tube. I'm thinking pultuded ... any opinions or experience? Cheers Mike     Edited By michael quinn 1 on 09/12/2015 21:41:52 Edited By michael quinn 1 on 09/12/2015 21:42:20
  3. Hello a clubmate kindly gave me his crashed Circle Dancer 3000. I need to build a new centre panel. Does anyone know a supplier where I can source a suitable 10mm tubular carbon spar? Building the new CS should be straightforward once I have that. Cheers Mike
  4. Hello gave it a go with cellulose thinners ... you're right ... cleaned it right through. Cheers Mike
  5. Hello I'm about to start finishing a model in Oracolor 2K. Its eye goggling expensive. I dont mind using their way over priced thinners for actually thinning the paint for spraying but its way too expensive for use in general cleaning of the spray gun/air brush. Anyone know an alternative i can use for general cleaning ... just to blow the 2K out of of the gun. Ill use a little bit of the real stuff at the end for a final clean through. 6. Lol ... next thread will be ... where do you get veneer these days ... its 15yrs since I cut a wing and all the local model shops have gone. Used to get it at one or two of them quite easily. I'll check flea bay but just wondering if there is a known 'go to' source for modellers. Cheers Mike
  7. Hi duohhhh ... using a different fle bay search ... as suggested ... works. Cheers Mike
  8. Hi anyone know where I can get Nichrome wire for cutting foam wings? Cheers Mike
  9. Hi   I think Cuban8 is right ... that name rings a bell. I remember at the time it seemed quite pricey but over the years its been great. I'd really have preferred to get like for like replacement uprights but I guess that wont be possible then.   Cheers   Mike Edited By michael quinn 1 on 05/10/2015 13:10:33
  10. Hello I bought a building jig years ago ... not a SLEC one ... can't remember where I got it now. Anyway ... anyone know if its possible to get replacement uprigts as per attached pic? Cheers Mike Edited By michael quinn 1 on 29/09/2015 19:06:48
  11. Hello   thanks for the advice ... a series would be good. I've seen series in mags on this in the past ... including Ian Peacock ones ... and his book. Trouble is that they are still fairly generic and either concentrate on compressors or airbrushes or painting technique, but not all together. Its a wide ranging subject really so I guess its difficult.  Thats why I thought I'd post a question.  Nothing better than real experience from other modellers.   @Ernie ... thanks for the advice about compressors ... fridge compressors are impossible to get hold off. Even the local scrap yards won't sell them .. or tinkers and scrap white van men. I tried very hard last year as I wanted to make a vacuum pump set up. Still haven't got one. Wheres the fly tippers when you need them.   Cheers   Mike   Edited By michael quinn 1 on 06/09/2013 11:02:52
  12. Hi I'm looking at getting an airbrush/spray gun/compressor setup. LOL ... I'd like to be able to use it for airfix sized plastics through to large RC model ( 2 metre pattern and 6 ft plus scale). Paints would be acrylics, 2K epoxies, enamels etc. I'm guessing Im going to need a couple of airbrushes and a small spray gun ... but a single comprssor. I guess the compressor size will be overkill for the smaller stuff but it would obviuosly need to be sized for the bigger stuff. Anyone got this kind of setup ... I'm just looking atvthe moment and trying to get a gradp of whats required. Cheers Mike
