E-Glider new design called RedEagle
David Keil replied to Ton van Munsteren's topic in RCM&E Plan Builders
Ton Have previously checked the wing for a warp, on checking again, it is very difficult to see any warp more than a very very minor one which I will rectify. Hopefully this Sunday will be a good flying day so will get more experienced flyers to try it out. Dave -

Andy..... Thanks for that, mine has this tendency to turn left both under power and no power, have not considered one wing being heavier and will check that. As for being docile, mine is certainly not that, will put more weight in the nose and see if that makes much difference. Dave -

Happy new year to you all..... My Red Eagle finally finished and had its maiden flight but has some problems:- 1) Has a tendency to turn to the left, not violently but a steady turn, have had to put in a lot of right rudder to correct it. 2) Also has a tendency to stall, or easily stalls, may be needs a little more nose weight? 3) Feels quite unstable in flight, although I am more used to a very stable Radian. I would be grateful for any comments/suggestions on the above... Dave -
I have decided to add spoilers to my ASW 28, I would be interested to know peoples suggestions on the position on the wings of these spoilers.

Ton Thanks for your comments. I am sure the wing will be strong enough. As for the build, I did find it quite straight forward although the nose was quite difficult. I am really looking forward to its completion and its first flight, I will keep you posted on progress. Dave -

Hi all I am in the process of building the Red Eagle from the plan, about 3/4 the way through. Am considering adding a tow hook so that I can bungee launch although will still use it for motor launch. Has anyone tried this and if so what were the results? Any comments would be welcome. -
Peter thanks for the info on that regulator, that one seems a good idea. With regard to the rx, it was definitely working ok with the regulator connected prior to connecting to the battery without it. My assumption can only be that the battery had an adverse effect!
-
Unfortunately no, however I did try binding it with one of my other planes setup with an esc. but still no joy.
-
The red light does come on and flash but will not bind, I will try and move the tx andrx further apart. Because these are fairly cheap I am just interested in why it should not work. Just want to ensure that I do not fry anymore! Just to clarify the setup I used, initially I connected a regulator to the rx and to the said battery and that worked ok. Then I connected the battery directly to the rx, it was at this point that it failed.
-
Just to give an answer to my question, it appears you cant use a li-lon battery without a regulator. Have just tried it and now the receiver will not bind, so assume it is for whatever reason it has damaged the receiver! Would be interested in any comments.

Pete Its just for a small glider I have built, very little room for radio gear. Have managed to squeeze in the receiver and battery (which I happen to have) and just get in 2 servos. Built from a magazine plan model was called the 'spirit of zaic'. Dave

I have a hk li-ion battery (7.4v 250 mah) which I want to use with a frsky TFR6 receiver, do I need a voltage regulater or can I just plug it in.
-
I intend to buy the turnigy 9xr with a frsky module and receiver and a frsky variometer, but have read somewhere that it will not emit any tone when increasing or decreasing altitude, is this correct?
-
Thanks Graham, am now clear on the use of modules. Will maybe look at the Taranis. Dave
-
Ken, thanks for that but just to clarify it in my mind, if I had a turnigy 9xr with a turnigy compatible receiver, then I wouldnt need a module. But if I had a uncompatible receiver then I would probably need a module.....hope this makes sense! Dave
