  1. Posted by ceejay on 19/09/2015 10:32:38: Aaah!! i see no probs mate just send it along, liking/wanting a moth seeing this, chris Cornish Pixie is selling his - the one Matt used to own....the one that got me into building this one...... Go on - you know you want to...go on.....go on.... go on.... Jez
  2. A bit more tinkering with the detail now.. Another one of the key bits of the Moth are the compasses - they are very visible!   I wasnt looking forward to this as the supplied vac formed ones looked naff..They were formed on the same sheet as the panel surrounds and padded cockpit back rests so they are textured.. So I went on the recycling hunt again - this time for suitable sized discs.. An empty glue bottle makes a great source of tubing for the body.. Now I will admit that at this point I got lost in the moment and forgot about the camera.. But grey paint, some stuck on dials, a dodgy stuck on name plate (thats actually a sticker for prop info) and a few Mick Reeves gorblimey screws later..... I'm really happy with this! Just got to make the little Compass lock... Jez   Edited By Jez Harris 1 on 19/09/2015 09:25:27
  3. At the other end are the elevator servos..(dont worry about the dodgy servo screws - Im waiting for some to be delivered!!) Another little "must do" here is threadlock - On a couple of occasions I have found the screws in Hitec servos to have worked loose despite the locking washer being used - just a little dab on the screw thread. This will be used extensive on the undercarriage and centre cabanes once they have been sprayed - You wouldnt believe how many times I have had to take various bits of this model apart and re-assemble it. Each servo runs a seperate crank. Made from brass tube earlier in the build. Ta-da! Jez
  4. The servos for the rudder and the elevators will go into the main centre console (makes it sound like a Ford Cortina!) Here's the full size.. And mine that I knocked up earlier in the build as I didnt like the ABS one supplied.. Servo rails have been added and the ubiquitus Hitec 645 installed in 3 places...at the front the rudder..A short rod connects the servo arm to....... The rudder bar which is mounted to a large servo disc running on a pivot..Note the use of tygon tubing as a keeper - much stronger than glo fuel tubing. The rudder bar needs to be attached after inserting the console into the fus by sliding it through the little slit in the fuselage, through the slit in the console, over the servo disc and out through the other side. This means I am using self tapping screws though the rudder bar and into the servo disc. The front seat will be removable to allow me to keep an eye on it. As I need a lot of movement I have cranked the travel up on the transmitter - That way I can keep the clevis as near the centre of the output arm to maximise the torque. In position then. And underneath a couple of cable tidies to stop cables getting caught. Where I have servo connectors, to stop them coming apart I find it easy to use simple gardening wire... Jez
