  1. Guys Where's the best place to get the Festo air gauges for retract/brake systems? I need a couple for my F16. Ta Scott
  2. Guess what.. I still don't have the damned model.. takes apparently 4 months to decide they cant do a paint scheme (even though Uncle Bobs customers get theirs in 3 weeks ). Supposed to ship now on 08th Feb.. We'll see... Still, the rest of the gear is here.. 2x Futaba 7003 Rx's through a Powerbox Cockpit SRS, Powerbox IGyro SRS with JR8911's for the elevators, 8511's for the ailerons and 8411's for the rudder/steering... I know I thought Futaba servos but a friend had an issue with a couple recently in a heli and it put me off completely.
  3. Is there a supplier in the UK for these? All-Scale now only supply a limited amount through DreamWorks & not what I need, looking for 1/6th F16 MFD's and HUD. Ta Scott
  4. Got one of these one the way, thanks to all for answering! Posted by david fillingham 1 on 06/11/2014 12:23:46: I have been using one of these for a couple of years and it is excellent: **LINK** It comes with a lot of useful accessories. The flexible drive is very useful for getting in tight places. The chuck is worth buying as it make tool changes a lot easier then trying to find the right collet. I bought the drill press, but this is not brilliant. I use it a lot, but the drill is not held firmly in place and it can wander, so not great for precision drilling. I am looking at buying a proper press drill for accurate work. The 3000 series also looks good and is a bit cheaper. There are a lot of cheaper items around which will probably do a good job, hopefully the Dremel will payback in the long run with quality and the wide range of accessories that you can get. good luck dave
  5. You mean you can get 'em without??? Posted by Andy48 on 06/11/2014 15:48:29: My Dremel cordless are brilliant, with Lipo batteries they last for ages. I have proper chucks fitted to both. The most useful aspect is the speed controller on each. I rarely use them on full speed. Old school or not I cannot understand why anyone would not consider cordless. Do you still have a corded phone? Bet your transmitter is cordless too.
  6. Thanks David & Roger, I think I know where I'm going now
  7. Thanks Roger, I'm kind of "old school".. don't like cordless stuff and charging batteries, just want to switch it on and get on with it! I think Dremel is the way to go though, got an old jigsaw that's at least 15 years old and works like a dream.
  8. Posted by roger graves on 06/11/2014 11:41:45: Bite the bullet, spend the money and get a Dremel cordless with chuck you won't regret it. That's what I was thinking but I'd prefer not a cordless one. Whats the best they do? Sorry, poor internet at work!
  9. After many years of faithful service my poor wee Minicraft drill's finally starting to die. Just wondering what you guys use these days. I could probably get another one on eBay somewhere but is there something better? Thanks, Scott
  10. Yup, perfect. I spray in my garage anyway (one corner's a spray booth) so it isn't so much of an issue but that confirms this is a quality item.
  11. David, I cant fire it up till Xmas, I'll let you know!
  12. After some careful consideration and a few e-mails I went with one of these.. **LINK** It arrived this afternoon ( an early xmas present from my wife )... she doesn't know about the impending JL/BVM F16 (AND DOESN'T NEED TO KNOW YET!!) I was allowed a quick look as I know more about them than she admits to and it looks to be excellent quality. Now I need a course (youtube or otherwise) on how to maximise what I can do with it!! The thought of screwing up £5K's worth of jet isn't appealing!!. I have an old BVM D/F F16 that needs a respray that I intend to practice on..any hints/tips/links gratefully appreciated!
  13. Thanks! Posted by Frank Skilbeck on 20/10/2014 08:16:58: Scott, I have a screwfix compressor with normal spray gun for spraying complete airframes and then use airbrushes for the smaller areas (I would say detail but that glosses my abilities too much ). You wouldn't want to use an airbrush for painting the whole airframe, unless it is small scale. Downside with the screwfix compressor is it's noisy, but when airbrushing the compressor hardly ever kicks in.
  14. Just saw this thread as I'm in the market for one too. I need something that'll spray either an entire airframe or fine weathering detail. How is the availability of spares?
  15. Brilliant news John!, I have a 5 y/o Cairn terrier with various allergies and a deformed ear canal that means he needs all the fur plucked from his ears twice a year. I hate seeing him recovering from being knocked out as he cant control his temperature and is so cold when we get him back.   That photo shows a cheeky little guy.. hope he's back where he belongs soon. Murphy says hi...       Edited By Scott Douglas 1 on 20/08/2014 13:35:55
  16. Posted by Lee Smalley on 19/08/2014 16:28:39: i have a rudder...so your still a girl Aye but is it a big one? And do you know how to use it??
  17. Posted by steve 1 on 19/08/2014 08:56:46: Hi Scott, i have been using jr 8411, 8511 & 8915 through a powerbox cockpit srs regulated at 5.9v for the last two years without any problems in my hawk (and other planes) but can't say about gyro's as i dont use them. Couple of hawk pics in me album. Steve Cheers Steve, that's a sweet looking model.
  18. Posted by Lee Smalley on 19/08/2014 09:19:20: Gyro!! Are you a girl or sommat why do you just get someone else to fly if for you all the time instead Am I a girl? Well my wife doesn't think so (and she likes men!) Nah, I was always going to fit one. I've had a couple of Yellow F16's in the past and still have a BVM D/F one in my hanger. None of them liked landing in a crosswind with that huge fin and at my club, the runways seem to be more often crosswind these days than not, plus they're only 30ft wide with little run-off. Everything I've seen & read says the Cortex makes a huge difference so I figured "what the hell".. besides, what difference does another few quid make when you've spent this much
  19. After some more deliberation and a few phone calls (where I was recommended to use Futaba servos!), I think I'll go with this lot... Elevators - 2 x Futaba BLS177SV Brushless HV S-Bus2 Servo 0.11s/37.0Kg Ailerons - 2 x Futaba BLS157HV Servo - High Voltage Brushless 0.14s/31.0kg Rudder - JR DS8411HV 17.2Kg/0.15S High Voltage Servo Seeing as they can all happily take 6v I'll feed them through a Powerbox cockpit SRS with a Cortex gyro. What do you think?
  20. Thanks Lee All the servos I want to use (8411, 8511 & 8911) are only really happy on 4.8v. The powerboxes I was looking at all start at 5.9v
  21. Although now I see on another forum that this thing has an issue with Futaba users that hasn't been resolved yet. Gawd I miss just plugging in a 4.8v NiCad and going flying!!
  22. Cheers Lee, I think I'll go with a powerbox cockpit
  23. Guys After a few years away from jet flying due to family/health issues I'm ready to return. I have a JL 1/6th F16 on order and a Wren 160K Pro for it. I fly Futaba through a 14SG but I prefer JR servos so it's a mix of 8411/8511/8911 servos on the major surfaces. Before, on my Boomerang, it was simple setup but with those servos/lights/afterburner ring etc I want to be as safe as possible but I'm not really up to spec on the latest powerboxes. What would you recommend re batteries and a powerbox if I went down that route?
