  1. Slowly catchy monkey, yes that;s the way to go, a D box is when you have made the wing, you cover from the leading edge back to the main spar with 1/16 balsa, this applies to the bottom as well as the top, this makes the wing rigid and less likely to break with a bit of a hard landing, the cap strips on the formers should meet up to the 1/16 balsa on the main spar, the best way to apply the 1/16 is to wet it a bit so as it will bend to the shape from the L /E to the main spar, also you may find it easier to do the D box to each wing half before you join them together, also don't forget the wash out at the tips.

    here's hoping this helps. Mike.

  2. Hi Glyn, I think the best way to fix the hinge pin would be to just push the short end of the wire into the balsa and not glue it, if you do glue then if you want to remove the elevators or rudder you will have a hard job, if you just push the short end into the balsa you will be able to remove it if you need to at a later date. I have been looking at the CD build, I don't know about you but it seems rather confusing, jumping back and forth.

I have looked at the photos of the gliders, and I think I will be building my wings with the D box method a bit heavier but so much stronger. pleased to have a chat & swop ideas.

    All the best, Mike. smiley

  3. Hi Glyn, yes you are right to put (3) to each side of the elevator leaving (2) for the rudder, space them evenly,

starting with the ones nearest to the joining wire then spaced evenly to the end of the elevator. the rudder is

more or lest the same one close to the control horn then the other close to the top to spread the load evenly.

Hope this is helpful, I have started with the wings first, but have finished the tail feathers except to sand and shape them.

  4. Hi Ton, just started the RED EAGLE build, bit of a problem with the translation but getting there,

just started on the tail feathers, a real good fit, only one small problem there was no brass tubes in with the

wing joiner wire, but have been promised they will be posted. the CD is great to help with the build.

Will try to get some pictures.

All the very best for 2015.

    Mike

  5. HI, my EP has what looks like a 600 can motor, with a Fusion Airpower 35 amp speed controller 5--12 nicad,

2--4 lipo, runs on a Futaba 6 ch, receiver Futaba servos, the battery is a 3 cell 2200, no problems there but the only thing was how to get the wing to fit properly so as the two bolts would screw in as they should, the fix I did was to file the fuse away at the front so as to let the wing go forward to allow the bolts to screw in properly. not flown yet so will write later to let you know how it went. happy xmas to every one.

  6. Hi Jim, just had a look at your build of the Jacasta, very nice, but the free plan in the magazine was not a build plan, it was a kit plan, I did manage to build from it but it was quite a problem at times, I have not had the chance to fly it yet but when I do I will try to get a photo for you, I did have a word with the editors about this but did not get a really satisfactory answer, I did tell them that they should check which plans to choose for the magazines, build ones in kit plans should stay in the boxes.

best regards Mike, Happy Xmas, A good flying new year.

  7. Hi All, it seems to me that you all have bought the kit for Jacasta, I tried the free plan, what a mess that was the supposed free plan in the magazine was the kit plan and not the build plan, I did report this to the editors but no sensible answer, so suggested that they sort out the plans properly and put the correct build plans into the magazines and leave the kit plans in the boxes.

    Yours Mike.
