Progress is a little slow. All of the sheet is now trimmed and sanded and the panel has been turned over, pinned down again for the sheeting to be started on the underside. Hi BounceBounceCrunch, my reference to finishing is more about the colour schemes and trim finish than the actual covering. However, tips and advice are always welcome.

I haven't built a proper model in years, instead relying on ARTFs, after all the quality of finish is far better that I can acheive. I bought this kit a few years ago and it has sat in my workshop waiting for the right time, and I have had the "itch" now for a couple of winters, so two weeks ago I finally decided to spread out the plan and get on with it. The plan being a couple of hours here and there would at least see it progress. So far I have been in the shed every night. I had forgotten how much I enjoyed building. I think it is all the DIY that knocks out the enthusiasm. And this may sound sad, but I had forgotten the pleasure of sifting through the bundles of balsa wood. The wood quality in the kit is excellent as are the three huge plans and instruction. If there is any interest I will post a picture or two

Thanks everyone for your recommendations. To be honest, I would never have thought of using plasterboard...and I have a sheet in the garage too. KC, I like your clamps, neat and simple, certainly worth a go. Cheers Everyone. Julian

Brilliant! Thankyou Do you find the cork tiles are consistant in thickness or do you sand them down after sticking them down?

Just a quick question to fellow balsa bashers...what are you using as building boards. Many years ago, in my youth, I had a nice piece of pine for building on. It was a bit hard for pushing pins into but it was ok for the size of models I built at the time, but that is a long time ago and he board is long gone. After assembling several ARTFs, I have got the itch to buid again and bought a 90" Decathlon, and my first obstacle seems to be a suitable large building board. The obvious seems to be worktop, but it won't easily accept pins. Any suggestions? Cheers Julian

I am still looking for a good Hurricane, so here is my choice:- 1) Hawker Hurricane 2) DH Mosquito 3) Martin Baker MB5 I would prefer electric, but why not go the same route as the Typhoon and makeit suitable for both power types. Julian 

How do you get on with taking RPM readings? I seem to struggle to get anything sensible or consistant. I must be doing something wrong!
