Danny about that cub, I did a search and its at lashenden airfield in kent. Aparently it just had a small flying accident. Search it on google and you will find the page.

Hey danny, I realy like the cub aircraft and i am about to buy a kit. But I would like it to be different to the many cub yellow coloured modles at my club. Do you know if the RAF ever used a cub like the American L4?

Hey all, I have been unable to go down to the patch for the last 3 or 4 weeks now due to bad weather and im getting really bored. I want to have a crack at building a piper cub from a kit over plans. I have been looking at the db sport and scale cub (dbsportandscale.com) and it looks really good for a bigginner to flying and building like me. Can anyone tell me if it is a good kit? Or if there are any other cub kits you can recommend?

Hey clarky and co! Im seriously amazed at how this thread has grown! I have been too busy building my tutor 40! It came in the post a few weeks back with a futaba 6EX-A transmitter and an irvine 46 engine. Its now finished and ready to fly! I have been making a lot of noise and annoying the neighbours running the engine in :) he he. If anyone who is looking at a tutor 40 all I can say is the instuctions are really clear and easy to follow and it looks awsome. There was only one snag i had: no fuel lines, so I had to order some which was no problem. Sadly the weather has been way too windy recently and I havent been able to fly...sigh. On tuesday i went out with my dad for some slope soaring with my nebula, which was great! I had loads of lift and i was flying for the better part of an hour untill I made a hash of the landing which was really badly planned and resulted in a smashed up wing which now needs to be replaced...Waaah. Trouble is the new nebula (mine is a few years old) has a diffenrent wing and im having trouble finding a replacement. Anyway rant over... Angus

Hey Clarky I went to my local club for the first time last friday night, to what they explained as a "chin wag" The club has its own club hut which is stuffed full of all kinds of models. I could have admired them all night! But I talked with them for a while about trainers and stuff and they all seemed to be friendly. One guy in particular helped me a lot and he let me on the flight sim, which was realy good practice. He had me flying 3D in no time!!! It just gave me a bit more confidence using the flight sim because I know what to expect when I fly my first trainer. I spent practically the whole night on the sim and had a great time! On the Sunday I came to spectate the guys flying down on the field. It was great watching the aerobatics and how everything was done. I found out about the membership and the insurance that i needed. I was a bit dissapointed that it might take a few weeks untill I became insured but good things come to those who wait i suppose. Ill be going back this friday for another go on the sim. On sunday hopefully I will get a try on the buddy box with one of the experienced flyers with the club trainer. I just ordered an Irvine tutor 40 so hopefully I will get that this week. Ill stop now because im probably boring you all but im really getting into this exciting new hobby!
  11. Yea I meant a kit like the Ben Buckle super 60 that Roger metioned earlier. It looks like fun building over a plan, but if the prices are practically the same then i might as well get a ARTF. Roger, why would you say the Ben Buckle is the best trainer in the world? I thought that tricycle undercarrages were more stable on landing?
  12. I dont get it. My origional plan was to buy and build a trainer kit, which I thought would cost less money. But looking at the ARTF models they are almost the same price. Why is this???
  13. Thanks for the advice! Im contacting my nearest club to see if it is still going (I heard about it a while back) The trouble is I live in scotland and there is only the above club within 15 minutes drive and another two in about 45 minutes drive which sucks. Ill have to persuade my dad to take me. The space for flying isn't a problem where i live: fields fields fields and more fields + few people...but i spose i best no risk it.
  14. I currently own and fly a ripmax nebula 2000e electric glider which I fly in local hills and fields. I have crashed it numerous times almost always on landing due to a lack of landing gear. But I do have a feel for flying. I am about to buy a irvine tutor 40. Do you think its a good idea to fly it when i get it? Is there a big difference between flying a large electric glider with no ailerons and a tutor 40?
