  1. Thanks for that BeB. Really like to build one of these. Just getting back into building after a load of foamies. Going to do a Swallow for some practice, then a Middle or Phase 6, then hopefully Tucano or a Mossie or a....... Iain
  2. Any more progress on this build? I'm dying to see it finished, might build one too! Iain
  3. Posted by Denis Watkins on 23/02/2018 21:30:50: Contact adhesive Iain, very smelly and expensive, so buy a tin
  4. Thanks for all the ideas. I've got photoboard anyway so will give that a go. Not sure what glue to use to stick it to board though, maybe tape it on. Reserve the right to use the plasterboard idea Toodle pip!
  5. Thanks guys. The ply board is dead flat & a SLEC jig kit has just arrived . Idea now is to have the jig on one side with the captive nuts recessed slightly. On other side glue some 5mm ply, for use as a board without bolt holes, that I can have as a board for sticking plans on for building over. Maybe faced with some photo mount board. So, one board, 2 uses, less space. Workshop is small ! If I need another board, I will make another ply one. Sound like a reasonable plan? Ta.
  6. Thanks for replies so far. Would the photo mount card from art shop work over the ply for sticking pins in? Got some spare. Had building work done a few months ago, should have knobbled some of the p/board Iain
  7. Guys, Making BB from some 19mm ply, it's pretty flat. I intended to glue & screw some 1x2 battens to underneath to help keep it rigid and flat. Problem I have is that the 1x2 & 2x2 stock I have is banana shaped in all directions. Wasn't that bad when I got it. I don't want to fix this to board as it will probably induce twists etc. All sources of wood here seem to have similar levels of crapness Any suggestions on how to overcome this problem would be much appreciated. I'm fairly new to working with wood, but have built a number of balsa kits in the past. Thanks Iain
  8. I get all my stuff online as the nearest good shop is over 100 miles away. I use and recommend Airtek, SMC, Gliders and BRC. Hobbyking are ok too for stuff I can't get from the others. Iain
  9. Hi Guys, Just discovered Airtek recently and tried them out for a few orders. Have to say their service has been top notch and quality kit too. Certainly use them again. Recommended ! Iain
  10. Quick update. HH sent me a brand new DX6i Tx (a dsmx one no less!), which was very decent of them. I bought an E-Flite Apprentice with SAFE and so far I have about 10 flights on it and no crashes (touch wood). If only the weather would cooperate and let me get out and fly some more. I can use Inter mode ok now and have never used the panic switch. I can fly around in Expert on the sim so that is the next step IRL. Would like to get a Parkzone Mossy next but Santa is bringing a Blade Nano cpx so that should be fun. Apprentice is great for beginners, practically flies itself if you want, recommend it. Iain
  11. Check the CoG. My mates one was doing the same thing. HTH Iain
  12. Leaning towards the Apprentice. Possibly the HZ Super Cub S but would prefer to have ailerons from the start. Thanks guys. Iain.
  13. Hi Kev, No local clubs I'm afraid. Hope you get on ok. What trainer you got? Iain
  14. As a newish flyer of rc planes I need help to decide on a trainer. I have flown helis a bit and briefly had a 2ch glider years ago. I like the look of the e flite Apprentice and Parkzone Sport Cub. I will have to go it alone but also have Phoenix and a DX6i. Thanks for any help. Iain
  15. I sent my DX6i to HH when recalled with the pot issue. Mine was faulty and repaired. After using it a couple of times I noticed similar faults with 2 of the gimbles again. Stopped using it and forgot about it, other life events preventing flying etc. After about 2 years, sent it in last week for repair and got parcel back today! Super Quick! Opened box to find they had sent me a brand new Dx6i DSMX. Chuffed or what? Great to see a company standing behind their products and delivering excellent service to their customers. Well done HH and THANKS Ps I don't work for them! Iain
