  1. My mistake. Both screens show the same motor layout. I guess I need new glasses. Well that puts me back to square one. I cannot get this tricopter to fly. It's all the rudder motor.
  2. Ok thanks. I'm sure that's my problem. Not sure I understand why the board shows two different motor layouts. but thanks. I'm going to correct my prop directions.
  3. When setting up the tricopter in the KK2 board, I click on "motor layout". That screen shows the prop directions. BUT when I click on "load motor layout" it shows different prop directions. Which one is correct?
  4. Yes I have rudder control but here is a video of what happens.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LLQJliqSlW8&list=UUcbKHWfGNh695vWcyLxiZDw
  5. I'm having big problems with the rudder motor. I know that the rudder motor has to be canted a little to the right to compensate for torque. It seems that no matter which way I trim the rudder, when I throttle up, the torque rolls the motor to one side or the other. It almost seems like the servo cannot hold the motor in a given position. Is there a KK2 setting that i am missing?
  6. Hi again. I have one more question. I have already built a quadcopter, and figured it out. On my tricopter, I cannot get it to arm the motors. I know there is a setting to make the lower right throttle stick arm the motors, but I cannot remember how. I read the KK2 instructions but i just don'r see it.
  7. OK GREAT!!! Thanks Chris. So the rudder servo plugs into motor 4 on the board. Great thanks again.
  8. Well HK sent me two ball connectors. They are too big but I made them fit. Anyway I have a new mental glitch. I am 99% finished with my X900 HK Tricopter. As you are aware I'm sure, there is a servo that controls the rudder motor. Well where do I plug it in, the KK2 board or the receiver. Either way, there is only one rudder channel on the board and the receiver. How would they communicate with each other?
  9. Thanks much Caveman. You are a gentleman and a credit to the hobby. I DID reverse the gear switch as you suggested, and it now works.
  10. Hey Pilots. I have yet another issue with my Orange Rx. Just to refresh your memory, I have the OrangeRx receiver with the built in gyro (one unit). I have it mounted, and ready to go. All that is left is how to turn it on and off from my DX8. I was chatting with a HK tech and he said just map the radio switch (gear, flaps whatever) to AUX1 I did that. Won't turn on or off. Am I missing something?
  11. Posted by cymaz on 06/09/2014 07:02:06: There might be some dirt or grit under it. Have you tried an air jet of some sort to blow into it? Thanks cymaz, I tried that this morning. I kinda doubt there is any dirt. It went from the package to the plane. It has never been flown. If you are looking at the gyro with the antenna facing forward, and the dip switches on the left. Which way do you move the switch. Right or left?
  12. I have my Orange Rx receiver/gyro combination all mounted and ready to go. I know that I must move the AUX dip switch so I can turn it off and on with my DX8. I want to fly tomorrow morning, but I can't seem to move the switch. I pushed in both directions, but it won't budge. I don't want to force it and break it. Why can't I get that dip switch to move?
  13. Thanks guys. All good advice. As you can tell, I am up very early. Bad case of Insomnia. I have seen a couple of Youtube videos where the guy has the OrangeRX under his wing, upside down. For some reason I don't think the Orange RX is as sensitive as the Guardian. Well I will try some of your all suggestions, and get back to you. Thanks
  14. Hi pilots.. I have a profile foam plane which does not have a cockpit. All components have to be velcro'd to the outside of the plane. I also have the OrangeRX receiver/3 axis gyro. I really don't want to mount it on top of the plane for looks purposes. That means it will have to go under the plane upside down. Why do I think that's a bad idea? Anyone have any thoughts?
  15. I received my Tricopter from HK. Well while I was putting together the rudder motor/servo assembly, I discovered that I only received two ball connectors for the push rods on the assembly. I have sent messages to HK but nothing yet. Does anyone have any ideas of what I can do. Without those two ball connectors, my build is dead in the water. I attached a pic to show what I mean. Well I was going to add a pic, but I don't seem to know how to.
  16. Thanks Tony. It's kinda weird. I went out to fly today with the quad, and it lifted off perfectly. I ran an acc calibration which may have something to do with it, but I ran it every time before. Not sure, but I'll take it.
  17. Well Tony, I checked the props and they seem ok. I made sure to tighten the nut on the prop adapter, but it was pretty tight. Flew my quad and it does the same thing. Do you thing there may be a setting adjustment on the KK2 board. I'm just grasping at straws here.
  18. Yes the props do spool at the same time. When I add throttle they all seem to be responding together. It happens only when the quad is just leaving the ground. after that, it is very stable. Thanks Tony, I will try a prop swap. Hey that rhymes!
  19. I may have asked this before but my quad with KK2 board, seems to want to take off uneven. Most quads I have, all four corners lift at about the same time. This bigger quad's right side motors lift first as if it's going to flip over, but with a little more throttle, it evens out. Is there some adjustment I can do?
  20. I'm sorry Eric. I do'n know anything about your board. But there are three things that I am pretty sure are true for any multirotor. 1. The board has to be oriented facing forward. 2. The motors have to be connected to the proper corresponding port 3. Making sure that the receiver controls correspond to the ports on the board. Other than that, I'm kinda at a loss myself.
  21. Eric, I can't remember. Do you have a KK2 board?
  22. Well David I appreciate the info. Being an ex RC helicopter pilot, I should have followed my own rule. I like to use the term "smartly". When flying a helicopter or multirotor, the props cause ground effect. It is pushing the air down, and the air has no where to go but back up. You should lift off "smartly" and get above that turbulence. I did that and the quad is more stable at take off.
  23. I have a minor issue. My quad Flys real nice, but when I lift off, the right side raises up before the rest of the quad. Finally after some throttle it levels out. What do you all think is causing one side to raise up?
  24. I am between a beginner and intermediate pilot. It seems to me that one way of describing an airplane that is easy to fly, is the amount of help it gives you. I have a Katana that does exactly what you tell it to do, and it assist you in doing it. Some planes like war birds will not help you and seem to want to commit suicide. I think the best way to determine if a plane is easy to fly, is by word of mouth like on this forum. For example, the Apprentice (not SAFE Technology) seems to love to fly. Now that I'm on the subject, I thought the Apprentice (With SAFE technology) was easy to fly, and it was. But I soon discovered that the SAFE aspect was causing me to bang the sticks around to get it to turn. So I removed the SAFE receiver, and put in a standard one. Anyway, you probably won't know if it's easy to fly until you have purchased it. So I could be wrong, but I have purchased my planes from word of mouth from my fellow club members, and peoiple on this great forum.
  25. Hey Pilots!! I am building an HK Talon tricopter. I will be using the KK2 board. I also have an OrangeRX receiver/3axis gyro. I was thinking of putting the 3 axis gyro on the tricopter. My concern is that there would be a struggle between the KK2 and the gyro. Whatcha think?
