  1. I need to get a elec dehumidifier for home but spoilt for chose.its for a 3 bed house and would like a larger size unit that would possibly cope alone.i need tbe stand alone type.i realise I shoulx address ventilation and heating first but I have done ths best I can but still get condensation and mould in areas.the thing I dont get is,in ths unit specs which seem detailed some units say 20 -50 m2 while simlar unit in sizd say 250-350 m2. Not typo,s. Would be good to hear if someond is using and can comment.i bought a combined thermom and hydro meter from maplins and thd relative humid is 65 at momdnt.read it should bs 40-50!
  2. I have turned the spare bedroom into a little workroom. It is the spare room because its always cold in the winter. It as 2 exposed walls and a large window. The radiator is as big as it can be given its location. I wondered what the best way to keep it warm is using electric heater of some kind. At the moment I pop up there, find its cold so turn the elec heater on,it takes a while to warm up and by that time I have done a few bits and ready to leave the now warm room.I wpould like to get something I set for a certain temp and leave it on so its a constant heat, good with my wood in there also. The basic electris heater I have now, electric coil sort, has a dial from 1-10 but the thermostat is not that good. ALso wahts best economy wise ,filament/coil sort or the oil filled kind,? any advice or comments would be great.
  3. I am very new to building,on my first build a Magnatilla which is not going as well as should be in places.I am looking here for tips and general build methods etc and would like to ask about I beams for spars.I see these used and mentioned in the red eagle build. Im my case I am new to building and really going out of sequence and putting right mistakes etc and its not too bad on the fuse.I have now hit probs on the wings because the supplied ribs are really very badly warpred.I was looking and thought that if I used the I beam way rather than the plan method of vertical pieces of web I think I can get the ribs more vertical.BUT I do not know if they are stronger or weaker than normal webbing method. The spars are 1/4 sq spruce and I would use the supplied 1/16 balsa for the I section.I know its proberly too much messing about but this way I know I can get the ribs better for sure.the warp long ways I easy BUT the curl height ways is ridiculous.Strength wise is it a goer?
  4. With regard to the way I was using the CA, I was just tacking here and there to hold the rib straight,or as near to.then later I was using that liquid/super ali[phatic along the join. But I did notice that when I tacked the ribs they looked ok,i then used the superphatic at rib/cap strip join area BUT the next day the ribs were wavy.not that way before the superpahtic was used!

    CA Glue

Never really used CA before I started my first build. Its a Flair Magnatilla and I was ok to use pva type glue until I got to the wing ribs. These are soooo warped the only way I could get anyway near straight on the cap strips and spars was to use CA. Next couple of days I had a terrible sore throat and just felt off,had to be the glue.I see this is a well known prob some get.I have seen odourless mentioned but no real answer to if it rids the reactions in some or all cases.Even if there are better brands than others.any feed back would be great.I have only done one wing panel so far and don't know what else will work.
  6. There are a couple of things just seen that I am not sure of. The ailerons have a very steep face and going by plan attach at the top only and shown attached by film.Is there any way other than film to attach.would like to use some form of hinge. Secondly is shows the wing being joined with one tip raised.does that mean I can build one wing section with a sloping root rib and the next section when built onto the first the root rib butts up to that? the plan says 47mm +/- 3mm. It gives no amount of height at each tip,so I do not know if 47mm is one wing or split between 2.
  7. Cant work out inserting picture yet.that last post I inserted the pics last thing and the first pic as come out before the text! You will be glad to know that's me done for tonite..I think my my wings spars are dry know,i managed to get straight spruce after all, twenty mile ride to get them!
  8. Sorry chaps, last post for today, this shows my last mistake.I cut the ribs for the ailerons in the wrong place! I have have salvage d them to use at the root area because these need to be cut for ply barces and are stuck onto lower sheeting so I presume that will strengthen them, the picture shows my invisible mend. I would like to add that in the wing build I m building the ailerons separate.i did not understand the method andcan not read the plans properly as yet.I will add more pics as I go. I think my building level is ok its just the sequence and methods I do not know as yet.

  10. Still can get text to start after picture!!!! Think I have sorted the trailing edge,i have but a sanded edge on the upper piece at the rear to it lays againt the bottom sheet, makes the trailing edge a bit thinner? Next question I have is regaring the fire wall mounting,i have no holes done as yet but it just butt mounts to the front of fuse.so I can get a more positive connection is is ok to use triangle strip glued to the firewall to aid connetion and alignment, picture shows the idea with old dtrip at present.
  11. Had so start again! The pictures did not insert in the palces I wanted them and after the last picture I could not start a new text line.will try and find that out. While I posted for ideas on power train I started the wings, first prob was understanding the trailing edge,i have 3 wing sections on 2 plans now and all are different sizes.the gap after the rib to trailing edge tip varies greatly,i asked in a post if this was as should be t
  12. First of I am not sure if this should go in the build blog but I would like to ask questions as I go so I thought here would get more views, hope that's ok. It was suggested I combine my posts as I have posted earlier probs on the Magnatilla and it was a bit disjointed. The build came about quickly, fancied trying and thought I might find something on flea bay cheap.Got a early Magnatilla (mag from now on) kit which I thought was cheap.until I realised the wire landing gear was missing and the plans are tracing paper? and very creased/wavey ,so much so nothing would lay flat when pinned.because no full size drawing of the wire parts are on the plan.I thought I might as well get the new version.I would have spares if I go wrong at some point.I would like to add that the part cutting in the earlier kit is much better than the mk2 kit! And the latter ribs are very warpped.not using the new kit yet just the plans and wire landing gear. Sorry to go on but I would like to let you know the sequence of the build and the things I have done wrong and stuck on so I can ask for help and advice.I will add pictures I have just started to take.I had started fuse befor this so no early pics there. I started with the fuse main body which went ok then the rear lattice part,i was pleased with that to,the joine are ok but the pics do not really show. The first prob here is that I started building with no idea of the power set up. I have now decided on elec but I have not cut any holes etc for batt access or any hatch work ideas.I am totally to new to building.
