  1. Thanks Dave, but this battery you mention is too big lengthwise 120mm is the max I can fit !
  2. Hi all - On the subject of batteries again ! I looked for alternatives to my eflight 3s 30c 3000 mAh lipo. All other makes I looked at for the same capacity were too large for the battery tray (Blade 350QX2) I then found this brand which was unknown to me but listed 3300 mAh with smaller dimensions than the eflight & also rated at 40c. Anyway I made a leap of faith & have obtained the Enrichpower battery. having given it it's first charge, I then did a back to back trial with the eflight one. The quad was set in "safe mode" & held in a stable hovver for each battery in turn & stop watch stopped at first blink of low battery indicator. I was somewhat disappointed that the 3300 mAh battery had a less flight time by a good margin than the 3000 mAh one! Is this brand known to others...have I been sold a "Pup" ? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/161513478380?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&var=460538298559&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
  3. I wouldn't imagine my eyesight is better than yours BEB, but at my advanced age, I manage to get by well with a white stick That would seem to be nice job you have got yourself there surveying the tombs, we are way south of this, but there is a beer called vergina  that I know quite well. At this stage I doubt very much that I shall exceed the range that you mention, on the field below us I have flown in "Safe mode" which limits the flight envelope to 45 metres altitude & about 100 metres distance, with stick relativity. When switched to the next mode "Stability" the limit is lifted & orientation is needed. I have so far pushed the quad out to about 150 metres at a guess & find that for me, at this stage, it's probably the limit of orientation. I shall persevere & hopefully after a few more flights be able to trust fully the equipment controls. Always have this sneaky feeling that something won't happen as it should, which is disconcerting with a bit of kit that has the gliding ability of a brick ! 4. Thanks Guys - Yes it is the BNF but as far as I know the receiver is built into the board & so far I haven't been able to determine the type. A job in Greece BEB - Anywhere this way in the Peloponnese?
  5. Ok... Done the prelimanary stuff, spent several hours on a simulator with a blade 350qx & amazed how easy it is to fly, in what seems to be stability mode on the sim. Set up the quad on the dx6i with not a lot of problem & then managed to arm the motors & get all up & running without too much of a hassle...Amazing considering the problems a lot of folk seem to have listed ! Anyway, test runs done at low altitude & in different modes to check all is ok & to prove the elecronics & controls. Bored with the safe mode, but can understand the reason for it. Using now in stability mode & all performs well. A question though, if I may ? Anyone have an idea as to the approx range that would be expected with this machine with the dx6i radio, with alkaline batteries at full capacity ? I would hazzard a guess at perhaps 4-500 metres, but would appreciate the advices of you good folk. Thanks, John
  6. Hi Guys - Having now started to use my Blade 350QX2 quad, I find that the one battery supplied is woefully inadequate (No surprise there eh!) The genuine eflight LiPo which is a 3000mAh 3s 30c is quite expensive & I have found a far cheaper alternative in a brand called Overlander, which is 2900 mAh but otherwise same spec & with dimensions that will fit the battery tray easily, also has an EC3 connector, which most others do not! Can you guys comment on the quality of this brand & is it a good alternative ? Thanks in advance for any info available.
  7. Many thanks for the wise & useful information...Just need some free time & decent weather now !
  8. Hi BEB - No not this spec. The kit is not the combo, which does have the camera etc. Mine was a BNF but with a Spectrum DX6i thrown in. I actually would have liked the RTF due to my general inexperience, but that was linked to a DX4e. Having read on here that the DX6i was a good intro to computer TX's...I just need to do a fair bit more reading etc to try to make sense of it all & hopefully gain a good deal of information on the way. With the way cameras are progressing, I shall leave this until later & add as necessary, after I have gained enough knowledge to decide on the best set up for me. So many people seem to be diving into FPV these days & I have to admit that the idea is quite fascinating, however, learn to walk before run eh (or at least not to crash too much)
  9. Just an update - Now received this quad - Fast delivery from the German supplier (d-edition) & as there was no issue of problems with sending lipo batteries, this may be of use to anyone residing outside of the UK? will certainly use them in future, also the model I purchased was approx £50.00 cheaper than it's equivalent that I looked at via UK suppliers
  10. Hi Guys - After reading posts about simulators & Phoenix, as a newbie coming into winter. I have obtained Phoenix 5. Having read previously that 5 is not as realistic as 4 has given me some concerns regarding it's usefulness in providing a degree of training ? I would advise that so far I have set up to use for a Blade 35oqx quad, which I have in fact ordered & a Hobbyzone Delta Ray, which I'm interested in buying. With version 5, both of these have proven to fly quite easily on the simulator - Too easily given my lack of experience. The other day I had a screen message that updates were available, so did a download (5 v) & there is now a tangible difference in the flying characteristics, so I'm wondering if this issue has been addressed? As a novice, I myself lack the knowledge to comment & would appreciate any opinion from your good selves, as to the realism of this latest update & the value as a training aid?.
