  1. As an aside, I was also quite taken with The Spad XIII that featured in the March 2007 issue which I bought ready to get into when time allowed. However on getting the magazine out to look at the plan in greater detail......the plan of the Spad is there alright,........but on the build page there is a small note stating that space limitations meant that they held over a part of it to the following issue (April 2007)........... Guess who did not see that in time and missed the boat....!!!    Hey Ho....   Regards   Brian
  2. Thanks Doug...suitably edited my post.....not thinking today....been a very long day!!   Regards   Brian
  3.  Both my wife and I are full time Carers for our respective parents who both live with us, my Father is 87 and my Mother in Law is 81, looking after both of these people is, I have to say, very hard work indeed as you can probably imagine so, ( to preserve my sanity!!)    I wanted to get back into this wonderful hobby of ours. Being a glow engine modeller of many years I decided that as time and resources etc are a lot different for me now, I thought the remedy is that I would move over to the 'Dark Side' and get into small scale electric. These models are both quicker (and cheaper!) to make, plus the local park is within 2 minutes from the door as opposed to a now difficult car journey to the old flying patch.  I have been very taken with the designs of Peter Rake and whilst I have a number of his plans from the Flying Scale models magazine Pull out plans, there are a few others of his that I have been trying hard to locate. So, I have been looking everywhere for a few  back issues of Flying Scale Models Magazine  that are complete with the pull out plans for Peter Rakes little scale electric jobs. Regrettably, although  the Back Issues dept run by a very kind lady (Jackie Dunton) has helped me with several others, the particular ones I am still looking for are sadly out of stock .  It was suggested that I post here on the Forum for help and therefore just wondered if any of you living in the UK reading this might have any back issues of the dates below tucked away in the loft or cupboard etc that you might consider passing on? The dates are       Dec 2004 (Sopwith Camel)                           May 2005 (Eindekker)                        March 2006 (Bristol F2B)                           July 2003 (Avro 504)                           July 2002 (Tiger Moth)                          April 2007 (Spad XIII part 2) If anyone can help in any way even with just one copy....please let me know and what costs are involved, I would be extremely grateful Just  PM me if you can help.  Thank you Brian Gibbs (AKA Bridon) Bridport, Dorset. 7. Great Planes do some nice wheels for 1/5 scale Cubs.....available from most Model shops here in the UK. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXK158 Also amend your profile so that I can send you a PM re the U/C Drawings ( tick 'Message Me' box )  Regards. BrianG
  8. Here is a nifty gadget for us 'traditional' modellers who use Solarfilm, Profilm, Solartex etc. Whilst we were shopping in Tesco today, my Wife saw the new 'Scotch Gift Wrap Cutter' that was recently advertised on the TV. It enables you to cut gift wrap one handed with ease...quicker than scissors so the ad says. Well in the store I was thinking about the last time I used tex covering and how clumsy it sometimes was using scissors, so I bought two...one for Christmas Paper and one for the workshop The good news is that it works superbly on Solartex, Solarfilm and Profilm...with or without the backing on too.  Gliding effortlessly through these coverings will speed up the covering process for us modellers, useful for trimming edges as well with a built in edge guide to give a nice neat finnish......more good news...it only cost a couple of pounds! Regards. BrianG (Dorset UK)
  9. Glad it all turned out good for you Nik......sounds like a very good result Brian
  10. Barton is a tad too far for me Eric....I live on the South Coast but thanks anyway....had a load of piccys sent to me now.....such a resourceful lot you all are on here Thanks to you all Brian
  11. Hi Ton, Ahh...I can see it now....nice Ton.....but now I have the info from the colour 3-view in the book I got today,, I will do an American liveried L-4 with the 'Operation Overlord' Invasion Stripes. Ta anyway...... Brian
  12. Hi Ernie, Thanks for those links...plenty to see on those.... The Sig 1/6 Scale J3 also does not have the glasshouse either but I will modify the structure as much as possible to enable a fair representation of the L-4 (without weakening anything of course) the result should be sort of 'Stand Off' scale and hopefully will look convincing in the air......anyways, it will make a change from Cub Yellow..... Had a stroke of luck today...found a Polish book (Samolot) on the Piper L-4 in our local Charity shop.....only about 25 pages but in the centre was a colour 3-view... Just what I needed. I have heard of the book you mention ...by Ken Wakefield apparently but my local library do not stock it neither apparently do the usual online bookstores.....never mind, from your links and my book find today...I should get a fair L-4 out of it in the end.
  13. Hi, For Christmas I am getting a Sig 1/6 scale Piper J3 Cub.  I would like to make an L-4 version and to get as accurate a paint finish as possible, I need to see some colour details. Trawling through the net for a couple of days has not yielded much so far... Can anyone point me to any suitable colour profiles on this aircraft anywhere? Much appreciated. BrianG
  14. Nik, I have a collection of Aeroplane Monthly here from issue no 1 in the early '70's  through to year 1981 or so. In checking, I see that they ran a 6-part article by Howard Levy and Richard Riding entitled 'Burnelli's Lifting Fuselages' in the March, April, May, June, July and October 1980 issues. This runs to 20 or so pages and includes the above mentioned OA-1 .....though sadly no 3-views  . Nevertheless an interesting read with good photo's if you are into these strange craft  If you wish, I would be more than happy to scan out the articles in sequence and make a PDF file for you to read up on. Regards. Brian
