  1. Hi I'm absolutely gutted! A friend wanted to see my Quadcopter, so brought it out. Took it up about 100 meters, and al going well, and pointed it at the sunset to film it with the gopro (wifi off) then banked left a tad and let the stick go back to the middle, but instead, carried on going left!!!! I flicked to "return home" and nothing happened (did have gps lock) flicked back to try and save it, but still no response. Tried return to home once more and no luck, then just fell!!!!! Smashed, and also the gopro is dead!!!!! I've kind of got some footage, but it was snippets, as it's corrupted. But before the fall, I could hear 2 beeps, the same 2 beeps you get if you're waiting for gps lock. And I'm pretty sure the rotors were stopped!!! Any ideas on this? Thanks.
  2. I he's ordering new batch in, hopefully they'll be the 2nd gen. out of curiosity, the gimbal I'm looking at, plugs into the battery balancer plug, I'm hoping there's enough room through the gap near the legs to push though on the opposite set of legs to the compas.
  3. Ah good point! Didn't know there were ones with longer feet too! Makes sense now. I will post back what I have once it's done!
  4. Sounds perfect! Local hibby shop is getting some in next week. So will order the gimbal now. I'll still have a read through that thread via Gonzo. Might find some useful information! Very Helpful! Thank you
  5. Hi guys Was going to purchase one of those cheap gimbals for the gopro, but I reckon I will need to buy the extended landing gear. I've not had mine apart yet, but the thing that gets my attention is the length of the compass cable. Would this be a simple thing like buying an in line connection to extend it? And once reinstalled, will I need to re calibrate it. Many Thanks
  6. Managed to find another little hobby shop hidden away in a retail park, and actually had the whole screw kit for a few quid, so bought that. I already have my eye on one of those cheap ones from China which keeps it all level, and actually looks pretty good for £35! Plugs directly into the battery charging socket. Although that means cutting things up, as the cover will always be open, so may adapt the cable that's hanging off which is for the optional camera?
  7. Hi Purchased the blade last night (second hand), and took it out a couple of times, which actually impressed me! Now I am looking at mounting my gopro, I seen in the box there is a grey mount which looks to hold a gopro, but there was only 3 self tapper screws, (below is a link) are these the ones to attach the mount? Either way, yes or no, I need the full set/an extra one. But can it seem to find them? I'm probably struggling a bit more, as I don't know the best Hobby shops online, and also the local one is shut today. http://i871.photobucket.com/albums/ab272/Dibbley247/Mobile%20Uploads/20150415_100220.jpg I think it would be stable with 3, but would definitely want all 4 screws on there! If these are the right ones, we have a local nuts/bolts shop which may have these? Many thanks
  8. Well. I now have the blade, and am very pleased. Got it for ?250 used. Thanks for the advise, I do have other questions, but will make another thread for it
  9. Hopefully will get my hands on the v3. As it turns out, a friends dad got one, used it once. Prefered the phantom, so he'll sell for ?250. Does it work like I'm imagining? Will the altitude lock in so I can still carry on going sideways as if im going down the side of a river? But maintaining heightt?
  10. Ok, the impression he gave wasn't like that at all, as he said "with the phantom it will stay there" As long as it stays at the same height in lock mode, I'll be happy Also been looking at self build kits for later in the year, didn't realise when it was mentioned, you can buy the frames, I thought you had to build them too! Haha.
  11. Im really torn between the phantom 1 or the 350 QX3 now!! I did see a video review of a 350qx, the only thing that bothered me was he had to continually adjust the throttle as it would keep dropping down...and quickly, whereas the phantom just hovered. Is this the case with the QX3?
  12. That type of view with the stands is fine, what I seen on the Quattro, you could see the whole height of the landing gear! At least with that set up, as you say, just tilt down slightly. I like the sound of that gimbal! Much more appealing than ?250 These gimbals that are remote controlled, do you have to modify anything to the copter? Many thanks for the advice here guys!
  13. Hi I think for my first quadcopter, I would prefer to buy a partially assembled one. I repair phones as a sideline, so I won't have a massive amount of time to research the components and how they all work/go together. It may not be, but they look like it needs to be very accurate in placement of the rotors being symmetrical. I thought the camera placements on these were all in a fixed position. I've never looked at one close up.
  14. Hi This is my first on a RC forum. So I'll be reading through a lot of pages for research! I have just bought a gopro, for a multitude of activities, and one of these will eventually be for aerial filming/photography. This isn't going to be a rush job, as I always Like to look into things for easily a month or two before purchasing. I've always had simple little RC cars, and more recently a helicopter. I paid a visit to the local hobby shop, and he's a good bloke, never tries to sell you the most expensive thing in his shop. Explained I looked at the DJI Phantom, and he said he has an equivalent there for about £260 which is the Quattro X (paying for what you get, rather than a name). So I went home, looked at some footage on YouTube, and the only thing that I don't like from the videos, is you can see the landing gear in its field of view, where as the phantom, you can only see a fraction of the rotors. Is there anything else on the market which has a good range, stable, and also, a gimbal to keep the camera stable which doesn't cost about £200 which I've seen for the phantom? I would say my budget is about £400. And I've read on UK airspace laws and filming regs already, so I'm getting my head around that. Many Thanks
