  3. Hi all

thank you so much for your advice will try all of these options.

Denis its a two stroke engine.

John have uped the clicks a couple of times and tried resetting the adustment in case it was moving too far but had not had issue before ,trouble is I am not good with engines it was a quite a while before i was able to tune them without help not sure I am that clever now but learning. changing the plug I will do next .

    mowerman .

if engine is over cooling what is the thing to do for that

  4. Hi all

wondering if anyone can throw some light onto this . The engine is running fine on the ground i.e ticks over ok, throttles up to max ok , pulls nicely when held vertical . I have no issue when flying, until I come in to land as I lower the throttle towards tick over the engine dead sticks . now I have been flying with this set up for weeks then all of a sudden I have this issue. any thoughts ?

    Many thanks in advance

  5. Hi thanks all

yes had thought about laminating also thought about alternate former , grain one way then the next one the other but think I will look at grain up and some reinforcing as Bob suggest. A confusing subject for me at least . so many thanks to you all for your input I do like this site people are so helpful . Many years ago I asked a question on a unrelated hobby and was told I should know that !!

    Kind regards

  7. Hi All

hope you can shed a bit of light on this for me

I am thinking about purchasing the above but where it quotes T-fhss which I understand to be telemetry and also S-fhss system ?? do I suppose rightly that you need to switch between systems on the transmitter or does it know by which receiver you are using ie does it just send in s-fhss unless you connect a suitable telemetry receivers which it then will transmit suitable data too ?

    Many thanks in advance

  8. Hi all

If everybody was building to a theme then I think that you would increase the number of people building in the mass build and may well create a lot of interesting blogs. However I took part in the 2016 mass build as a new comer to building planes (but not to model building) and found it a very good idea that people were building the same thing as the information was there to access ie Building issue's were high lighted as people came across them, asking questions resulted in answers from people building the same model.

Would you as a newcomer find your own model to fit within the theme, would the help be as good ( I know the help on here is excellent but I am sure you know what I am driving at ) I also think that it is good to see lots of the same plane being built and to think of all those planes out there .I thought last years was a good choice and the only reason I did not take part was I had a project or two on the go

Still the other side of the coin sometimes things need to evolve, Maybe give it a go one year see what happens my only concern you may not appeal the the new guy.

    Kind regards

  9. Hi

Thanks again. But I think that I have not made myself clear with regards to the puffy battery thing though your replies have been very helpful I shall now not be fretting if the battery does become puffed while discharging it . With regards to the puffed battery I was really trying to say is when I start to use my new battery if it ever became puffed up in use what is then the best way to deal with that, is it still to discharge it out side with a lamp as I am going to do with the unwanted one ?

Sorry for the confusion hope this now makes sense

    Regards

  10. Hi guys

Thank you for you help in this matter it is most welcome. I have little experience with lipo's and they do scare me some what, so the plan is to get rid of the one that I don't need, as the intended project for that is no longer live which will leave me with just the one for my wing and see how it goes. John that was a excellent link well worth the read thanks.

Just one thing though if I was to end up with a puffy lipo how do you deal with it. I hope this will not happen but if it does what is the best practice?

Thanks again for the response this really is a great site for help

    Kind regards

  11. Hi all

I have a lipo that I was given but no longer want, so I want to be rid of it. Correct me if I am wrong please, but as I understand it I need to discharge it first. Now if I use a car light bulb of say 12 volts / 5 watts will this do the job?

    1. Do I run this until there is no more light coming from the bulb so hence taking out any power in the battery?

    2. If this is so will doing the above not cause it to swell or does that only happen due to running too long at too higher amp draw if you see what I am getting at.

    3. If the battery was to swell what do you do then or if I ever end up with a swollen / damaged battery what then I have read that a swollen battery should not be dis charged ???

I know that there is a lot on here about Lipo's, believe me I have ploughed through Quite a lot of info on here and the net in general

Many thanks for your help in advance

  12. Hi Glynn

Good luck with the boat building. I was am a boaty I started with boats then moved to planes. The building of the boats is great never done a kit always found it was interesting to plan build trying to find ways to make things etc.I have to say the operating of them I find a bit tame after flying. one option I found quite good was the yachting side always more of a challenge to sail. Built a vic smeed star baby yacht nice one to have in your collection. I would second what someone else said about building something nice so something to treasure for years to come .

Next time I build a boat I am looking to do just that something that maybe remembered for a while. Anyway good luck you seem to have found most of the answer you wanted .

    Kind regards

    Tony
