  1. Well everyone, as some of you on here already know I've had to give up this build, it was way over my limited knowledge, luckily a dawn patrol member has taken on the project, being both the strutter and the torqumaster, the edge 540 is also for sale if anyone is interested, thanks again to everyone who contributed to my build kind regards boz
  2. Sorry the pics are in the 1/3 scale strutter build, boz
  3. Not leaving push rods outside, they are stainless steel, so just fitting them, then same as jez, covering them with varnish
  4. Could someone take a look at the last 5/6 posts on my strutter build, re engine, and tell me if I've drilled the correct holes out this time, on the outer edge of engine there are some holes that are recessed into the engine case, these I've left, I have drilled the other holes, so may have made another mistake, thanks for looking boz
  5. well i have had a thought re the engine used look, i have hung the engine push rods outside for a while, i am hoping to get some weathering on them before fitting them to the dummy engine. i don't know if it will do any good but as i have a spare set of everything i can take the chance. then i used this to give the engine its first coat of paint, following jez build i have used the same paint, hoping my engine will turn out something like a used one when the push rods have turned a bit rusty i will fit them and give the whole thing another coat of paint.i will then fit all the nuts and bolts and see what it looks like, thanks for looking boz

  9. Forgot to mention, after re assembly I will be cutting the engine bolts to there correct length, this is just a test assembly Thanks for looking boz
  10. well guys, after a slight hick up with the first dummy engine, i decided i would order a replacement from mick reaves. well i wont go over the first part again re fiberglass the cylinders, and cut and bend the push rods, and cut and fit the brass cam followers, as i posted on that before, this time i did thing a little different/ i glassed the engine as a whole unit and also around the tops of the cylinders, without cutting it out first, i found this made for a stronger base to stipple the grassfire, after drying i gave the thing a sprinkling with talk on the inside, this made it a bit less sticky, and it smelled better than the glass resin, after carefully studying the engine this time {lol} i drilled out the correct holes,i then went on to test fit the push rods, and the nuts and bolts supplied with the dummy engine, the white powder is not cocaine, honest, officer, its talc those of you eagle eyed builders out there will notice that the nine holes around the outside of the engine are empty, thats because when i went to RAF cosford to see the full sized aircraft , i noticed they where a bit bigger than the others, so i have left them out for now, although mick reaves does not supply anything to put in there only the same nuts as around the inside, however im looking for something to put in there. i have taken the picture as close up as i can get so you can see the detail in this dummy engine, im sure the expert builders among you would be able to do a much better job than me, after i find some nuts and bolt tomorrow i will fit them , then as per the excellent build by jez i will paint and varnish the assembly using jes,s methods thanks for all your interest, i really do appreciate all the people who are following my attempt, boz

  15. Well everyone, I'm having a few problems with the strutter build, I have come across a few things that I need to sort out with some people who are more knowledgeable than myself, until I can clear these problems up and get my build back on track I won't be doing any more work on the aircraft, I will carry on with the engine so will post those pics when I can, thanks for looking boz
  16. Thanks for that, I live in Scunthorpe, for my sins lol

    TRIP TO RAF COSFORD

Well I looked for the me110 but they did not have one. I discussed the me 410 with the rear facing cannons, there was no plaque on the aircraft, and although there could have been one on there when it was refurbished the plaque could have been removed at some point later. Sam one of the staff there said it was most likely to have been the 410 that you worked on and he did have a very comprehensive knowledge of that aircraft, I did take two pictures of the cannons for you, however I have not got them off my camera yet but will post them for you asap, I would recommend cosford to everyone 100%, thanks for looking boz

  22. well just got the main undercarriage parts back from my friend, he silver soldered them for me, as they were far too difficult for me to attempt, i will clean them up with wire wool before sanding and painting, i am going to have a go myself at some of the smaller parts when i need to fasten it to the fuz, later in the build. the cross member and axle are still to be fastened to the sides but will wait until i have made a jig the same size as fuselage before i do anymore work on it, thanks for looking boz, will be doing a little more work on the dummy engine over the next few days
