I use a Meaco DLL unit when the weather is damp and when I have the gas heater on. Works a treat.
Not cheap mind, but therein may be why it’s good. Kept my Harley dry for many years.

About 11 if I count those in the loft, ready to fly and those in the garage. Any ideas on label suppliers, I don’t have a Dymo machine?

Meaco DLL, working in the garage for many years and still in use when the gas heater is on. Had one in the conservatory as well. Very pleased with it.
You can have it “ plumbed “ in so it drains out the door or use the inboard tank.

Thanks everybody for all the great advice. I’m enjoying this build although keen to finish before the conservatory gets too cold too build in!!
Invest in a Calor gas heater. It will keep you toasty warm. Only downside, everyone else will want to be in there enjoying the warmth and any sunshine outside
I build in my garage and can recommend a gas cabinet heater, I also have a dehumidifier to keep the water vapour under control. It’s very capable of keeping me warm. I have both a smoke and CO alarm in case of any issues. An economic solution tested over several years worth of winters.

Andy
Recent discussion covered some aspects of this.
Personally, I use a BattboxS
But where do you keep your batbox?
Andy,
Kept in the garage for last 2 years. It’s insulated so batteries don’t appear to come to harm. I’ve been very much less concerned knowing they are in the Bat-Safe. Batteries seem to be most at risk when charging so the fact that they are charged and stored in the same box keeps everything in one place and I have no concerns. I also use a parallel board for charging. Prior to buying the box I was always wondering what a risk the lipo’s were to my garage.

Depending on size of “hole” I’ve used Polyfilla Advanced, pick up a tub and you’ll see it is very light.

Looking at the You Tube demo, it looks that the Battsafe will also filter some of the smoke emitting from a Lipo fire. I think that is a key feature of the Battsafe,
I don’t have the documents that came with my Battsafe but the FAQ’s are on the link.

Another vote for the Battsafe.
It’s purpose made for the job and there is a video on You Tube somewhere showing it’s effectiveness.

Hi,
Finally got underway with mine. Wings done but putting the aileron horns into place they are different to the ones in the instructions, and barely poke above the depth of the aileron. Am I missing something? Never used this horn layout before.
Thanks for any ideas.

I can get it on my fingers just opening the bottle.
THis why I keep acetone on the workshop
Guaranteed certainty ! As Peter, I keep Acetone on the workbench.

Hi
I use Epoxy. I suspect PVA but I like the solidity of Epoxy, and a slower setting one at that.

Hi,
Following with interest, mine is still in the box and will be IC powered, just half way through the Hurricane in the same series!
Will be a “very stand off” finish on both but will be looking for a colour scheme used on BoB.

Hi
If you put together the kit version dolly, you can have a radio controlled steering. I made one up and used the vacant rudder channel on the tax and a second rx. Not used it yet but the steering works on the dolly, just need to get the lot to a flying field.

I get a message saying “Safari could not open page as server stopped responding.” Not sure of the model of IPAD but the issue is the same on my iPhone 6.

I could open your link and the club web pages.
It seems to be where the URL has “.bmfa.” in the address . Others open fine when they don’t include that. The ones I looked at in your link didn’t have that.
I can access them via my desktop just fine.
Just don’t want to have to resort to that all the time.
Thanks both for your responses!

Hi,
I’m not a whizz at computers or tablets so am asking for help please. When I look up a club web site on my tablet, (iPad), those clubs that are hosted by BMFA will not come up. Not sure what the problem is. Can someone let me know please?

Hi
Praise where it’s due. I just got my charger back which developed a minor fault with one of it’s lights, (GT Duo) after 10 months use. I sent it back to George at 4-Max Models and in no time a replacement unit is back in my hands.
Will certainly be going to 4-Max for other electric items.

Hi
There were no plans as such, only an instruction leaflet. There’s not a lot of building involved, hence no plan.

Hi Nu Me 1
Mode 1 or 2 can vary with what part of the country you live in. Mode 2 is now dominant in the South. Oddly I learnt on Mode 1 in the South but am now very much in the minority. (T’was 30 or 40 years ago!)
Most Transmitters can do either, so not a a buying issue.
Good luck with your learning curve, and I hope it goes well for you.

Well said, more power to the manufacturers of kits. Look how long some of the well known ARTF’s have been out of stock. Looks like some Chinese factories have taken a very long holiday.

Not only have indicators dropped from use, I see a lot of people that see a red traffic light as an optional sign. The number of ‘jumpers’ seem to be increasing steadily.
A sign of the way things are going?

Having another bout of bad breathing so looking at getting an air filter. Shocked when low sun highlighted the dust hanging in the air even after finished and removing mask! (I use both dust mask and fume masks as needed)
Looking at the Jet system and will look at the Microclene after the new year. Building on hold until resolved!
Any further advice to above welcome. (Yes I could go all foamy, but where’s the fun in that, no building.)
